Myth Golf & Banquet - Regulation Course
About
The Myth Golf & Banquet, formerly known as Beaver Creek, tumbles across rolling hills. Situated next to Lake Orion, the golf course sits on protected land that is home to an abundance of wildlife, including sandhill cranes. There is both an 18-hole championship course and a nine-hole par-3 course. In 2007, when the Myth was established, several improvements were made to the championship layout, improving its conditions and making it more challenging. The scenic golf course features boardwalk cart paths that cut through beautiful pine forests. Don't get too distracted by the scenery though because there is plenty to keep you busy including multi-tiered greens and water hazards on almost every hole. The 13th is the golf course's signature hole. This par 3 plays from an elevated tee over water to a generous green, offering a great opportunity for a birdie.

Hole 13, fun par 3 Photo submitted by Tait2dn on 05/09/2013
Good Practice Course
This course has some interesting holes, Par 3 are laid out nice. This course is a great course to hone your skills.
nice course
the greens were fast. some of the pin placements were suspect. the hot dogs were good. the course was in excellent condition. the greens held approach shots. the traps were raked. the leaves were blown where appropriate.
we'll be back again
Course is surprisingly tough
The course is difficult you must hit good shots to score, and the greens are difficult but true.
Improved conditions
Started going here when it was called Beaver Creek. This course retains the same layout and the conditions have greatly improved.
Golfer friendly course
I would recommend a beverage cart on the course and a roving ranger as he foursome ahead of us was soooooooo slow. We will golf here again !
pleasent surprise
its been 3 years since last played, course was always
considered a Crapper!, not anymore, can't wait to
play it again!
This course is challenging
I like the fact that you can use a lot of different clubs. Some of the greens are tricky.
Golf Cart Rollercoaster
I've played the Myth twice this year. Fun course. Good price, nice view, easier course. We enjoyed ourselves both times.
Challenging 6200 Yards
The Myth is only 6200 yards from the back tees but it is a very challenging course. It is in good shape but some tees definitely need work. There are some short par 4s but there are also 4 par 4s over 400 hundred yards. Dog legs etc. make the course play longer than the scorecard reads. The rough isn't over long but it exacts a price. Really try to keep the ball in the fairway. There is a premium on shot placement especially when it comes to shots into greens due to greens that are very undulating. Put the ball in the wrong place and three putts are very possible. Definitely a course that plays easier if you have played it before. I would definitely like to play it again.
Great Value!
Played a foursome first time! We all had a great time! No problems with ranger! Did not have to wait to hit! Some tee boxes needed some love but over all course was in very good shape! They could of had BBQ going at the turn (10;30 ) but cart girl was on top of it!
Pros and Cons
This course has many pros and cons. If you could live with the cons, then play here.
Pros:
1) Golf course is challenging for all skill levels. It's a good test of golf.
2) This course is the only one around other than Greystone that has an island green par 3. At 100 yards, it gives everybody an opportunity to hit the green and avoid the water.
3) Some holes look fantastic and well designed.
Cons:
1) Course is hard to navigate. Between holes your riding through the forest on bridges that sounded like they were falling apart but in reality they were fine.
2) Since the 13th hole is an island green, and the group behind us was two holes behind, I took a couple pictures of the island green. While I was taking a picture the ranger yells at the top of his voice "HURRY UP YOUR SLOWING DOWN PLAY! YOU CAN'T DO THAT OUT HERE!" And then REFUSED to leave until we finished the hole. He caused me and my playing partner to chunk our shots into the water. His attitude is why I will not be returning. He made me feel like dirt and didn't acknowledge me as a paying customer and I could take a quick picture before I tee off. If you see a ranger, older guy with blonde/grey hair, and seems to be staying in the same place all the time rather than driving his cart, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
3) There is no drink cart, you have to wait until you reach the clubhouse to buy drinks.
Overall it's the ranger is why I won't be returning. His rude and inconsiderate attitude changed my opinion on the entire course there's better courses in the area that has great staff, and perhaps the ranger won't mind if you take a quick picture before you tee off!
tricky greens... but fair.
used all the clubs in the bag. nice variety of tight/ open fairways. visually very pretty golf course. Some of the wooden cart paths were like the Wild Mouse at the carnival , but that was enjoyable too. Love playing here
Poor service
Usually service at a golf course doesn't matter too much to me (check in and move on) but I stopped at the pro shop at the turn because all of a sudden they threw a group out in front of us on 10 on an already packed course. The pro shop insisted they were in front of us the whole time which was a blatant lie because I interacted with the 3 who were in front of us throughout the front 9. When I called him out on his lie he responded with "they won't slow you down they'll play faster than you guys". I was paying a low rate and was having fun with my friend so I just swallowed my pride and moved on. Every tee box on the back 9 we were forced to wait for the "faster" group. The service was classless and patrons should be treated better.

Well groomed, but dont let that fool you
The course was well manicured, and the clubhouse was very nice, I cannot deny that. However, the design of the course was not enjoyable. Great if you are close to the course, but not worth the drive from the suburbs.
Excellent Course
This course was challenging and fun! Not very long, but if your not careful, you'll end up with a very high score. Greens are very challenging.
Not sure if they are trying to keep this open...
Can't beat the rate of $14 for 18 and a cart. I would never pay the full rate. The golf cart sounded like and ran like a battle tank. The wooden bridge trails looked like they are in dire need or repair. The steps up and down to many Tee Boxes were an accident waiting to happen. The food was gross...old hotdogs and burgers that were probably sitting around all day.
However, my 9 year old son thought it was beautiful, especially the front nine and all of the trail leading to the next hole.
Greens rolled nicely and were in good shape.
Nice course
Nice course. Plays nice. Lots of boardwalks to zip you to some of the remotely located holes. Only complaint: quite a few of the tee boxes need attention. Definitely will return
Best condition in a while
This is the best condition I have seen the course in in a while. Some tee boxes still need a lot of work, but fairways and greens were nice for the most part. We finished our round in about 4 hours, but were constantly waiting for groups in front of us. Overall I like this course for the price.
Fun time
If you want to go out and play a fun round with friends this is the course.
Challenging course but fun to play
I have been golfing the myth for a few years now. It's a really fun course but can be challenging. Need to use your muscles as well as your brain. If you play safe, you can shoot a good score.. A few holes when you think to hit driver, try laying up with a long iron or a rescue club to set up a second shot at the green. The pace of play is good. The course is rather empty. If someone ever hits up to us, we let them play thru because there usally is a space between them and the group (if there is one) behind them its a few holes. Great course, great staff!
We sincerely apologize for your experience with our ranger at The Myth! Please allow us the opportunity to make up for this by offering you another golf experience at a discounted rate by emailing our PR manager at nash@vargogroup.com.
