Timber Trace Golf Club

About
Timber Trace Golf Club sprawls across the rolling countryside that surrounds Lake Wallaby in lower Michigan. The location seems rather remote, giving the course an isolated feel, but the round is well worth the trip. The layout is routed through tall pines and the fairways effortlessly flow across the gently rolling hills. The wooded terrain is one of the course's major draws. Golfers from as far as the metro Detroit area come to enjoy this scenic round. The layout has an interesting mix of holes that offer plenty of variety. There are some tricky spots but you won't come across any carries over wetlands or ponds. Golfers will face long and challenging back-to-back par 5s starting with the 15th. This duo has the potential to ruin your score.

Awesome track
Best conditions I've ever played for the lowest price on a weekend.
Only downside was pace of okay as there was a group of 6 playing together holding everyone up. A 5 hour and 23 minute round is not much fun. Hard to keep a rhythm going.
5 hour round is not acceptable. Nobody from the course out trying to move slow players along. Hit your shot then drive to your ball then wait again. Hit your shot then drive to your ball then wait. Recreational golfers do not play ready gold anymore. They are watching too much professional golf.
Need to space pace of play further apart.
This course is one of my favorites seeing how I've been playing it as a kid. I've seen it grow into something it had potential to become, that being said the 3 times I've played it this year it was almost a 6 hour 18. That's about an hour longer than average due to I am always having to wait for groups in front of us and having groups right on us from behind. Because of the area covered by this course space between groups need to be increased by at least 5 minutes from what they are now. That would create an ease of play for many many people
Very very Slow
The golf course keeps on putting new groups on 10th hole. We were four groups back after 9th hole. We quit because we can see it will be painful to wait.
Timber Trace is in unbelievable shape.
Couldn’t say enough great things about how this course is being managed and maintained over the last couple years. Hats off to the new owners! Would recommend this course to anyone in the area! 10/10 for the value.
Northern Hospitality
- Pillowtop fairways
- Super fast greens that weren't rock hard and very receptive of long approach shots
- comfortable indoor and outdoor dining area with excellent burgers on the menu
- excellent practice facilities
The distance between #12 and 13 makes the course unwalkable. It's a legitimate 20+ min walk. If you're a walker, you don't mind the distance but walkers would certainly cause issues with pace of play.
Michigan Golf near its finest!
Perfect Afternoon
Was pleasantly surprised that their GolfNow review score was right on.
Course was in excellent shape and layout was enjoyable.
I will definitely play again.
Fun round
The course is in great shape. It's a fun track with reasonably placed hazards. They have made some modifications with sand traps, so they all have fresh sand. Even the rough is in good condition. We ended up playing with Jamie, the course pro, and she was very enjoyable to share the round with. The other staff members were all friendly. The clubhouse is clean and well appointed. Timber Trace is at the top of the courses I like to play.
Great course
I really enjoyed this course. It was in great shape and we finished in 3 1/2 hours.
Amazing conditions at Timber Trace
Timber Trace Golf Club truly stands out as a gem for golf enthusiasts. One of the most remarkable aspects of the course is the greens. They are some of the truest I have ever played on, offering a consistent and fast roll that can challenge even the most seasoned golfer. The fairways are meticulously maintained, providing lush and forgiving lies that make every shot a pleasure.
The recent bunker renovations have added a new level of sophistication to the course. These enhancements not only improve the visual appeal but also the playability, ensuring that every sand trap is fair and well-positioned.
Overall, Timber Trace Golf Club offers an amazing golfing experience, combining pristine conditions with thoughtful course design. Whether you're a local or visiting, it's a must-play for any golf lover.
Great local course!
Well kept and clean in the club house and on the course. Pace of play was slow however it was a busy day. Staff were friendly. The layout of the course is open and pins were well placed allowing every level of golfer some variation to their play.
Worth the Trip
This is a course that should be in your rotation. It’s a very playable course that gives you some room of the tee. I’ve played here many times in the past but moved to a different state 3 years ago, so it’s been some time since I last played it. Course conditions get very high marks from tee to green. Person I spoke with in the Pro shop was very helpful with a special request I had for the group I brought out. If he his reflective of the new ownership the course is in great hands.
