Timber Trace Golf Club
About
Timber Trace Golf Club sprawls across the rolling countryside that surrounds Lake Wallaby in lower Michigan. The location seems rather remote, giving the course an isolated feel, but the round is well worth the trip. The layout is routed through tall pines and the fairways effortlessly flow across the gently rolling hills. The wooded terrain is one of the course's major draws. Golfers from as far as the metro Detroit area come to enjoy this scenic round. The layout has an interesting mix of holes that offer plenty of variety. There are some tricky spots but you won't come across any carries over wetlands or ponds. Golfers will face long and challenging back-to-back par 5s starting with the 15th. This duo has the potential to ruin your score.

Great local course!
Well kept and clean in the club house and on the course. Pace of play was slow however it was a busy day. Staff were friendly. The layout of the course is open and pins were well placed allowing every level of golfer some variation to their play.
Worth the Trip
This is a course that should be in your rotation. It’s a very playable course that gives you some room of the tee. I’ve played here many times in the past but moved to a different state 3 years ago, so it’s been some time since I last played it. Course conditions get very high marks from tee to green. Person I spoke with in the Pro shop was very helpful with a special request I had for the group I brought out. If he his reflective of the new ownership the course is in great hands.
Great Course, Great Day
Outstanding course. It appearred they had had a lot of rain and had to rework a number of sand traps /bunkers. Many traps were in great condition a few were marked ground under repair and players were given free drop. Greens above average speed and in good shape. Fairways in good shape. Rough was not terribly penal. GpS on carts matched my range finder distance.
Played the course on 9/24. It’s so dialed in. Perfect conditions. Great value as well. 5 stars for sure. Love it.
Soft faiways
I enjoyed this coarse. There are some challenging sand traps around some of the greens that will test all levels of golfers. The fairways are nice and soft. Some of the traps need more sand as this is a task still in progress that the coarse management is currently working on.
Play before the renovations are complete
This course is well priced and spreads golfers out enough (10 min) for a good pace of play. We were done in under 4 hours, the course expects a 4.5 hour pace.
Course was in great condition, although bunkers were under construction on several holes, including excavation on the hole 1 fairway. Greens and tee boxes were in fantastic condition considering a month ago the course got destroyed by hail.
Very open course, you don't have to be straight but it certainly helps. Placement on the greens is important, lots of different levels and the greens ran slow. There's a 5 minute cart ride to play holes 13-16. Can't remember water coming into play at all, but there's lots of slope around the greens if you miss them.
Nice gas carts with course GPS. If you buy a snack at the clubhouse, pass on the sandwiches, they're maybe 4 inches long. The course has new owners who are making improvements and with that comes an eventual raise in greens fees, so play the course before it becomes $55 for 18 holes.
Would absolutely play here more often if it was more convenient.
Great Value
This course has come a long way in a short period of time. Best course within 50 miles.
