Timber Trace Golf Club

About
Timber Trace Golf Club sprawls across the rolling countryside that surrounds Lake Wallaby in lower Michigan. The location seems rather remote, giving the course an isolated feel, but the round is well worth the trip. The layout is routed through tall pines and the fairways effortlessly flow across the gently rolling hills. The wooded terrain is one of the course's major draws. Golfers from as far as the metro Detroit area come to enjoy this scenic round. The layout has an interesting mix of holes that offer plenty of variety. There are some tricky spots but you won't come across any carries over wetlands or ponds. Golfers will face long and challenging back-to-back par 5s starting with the 15th. This duo has the potential to ruin your score.

Awesome course
The staff is super friendly here and the track is fun and challenging. I can’t wait for all the repairs to be complete because it will be near flawless.
Alright experience
First time playing here. You can tell this course is under new ownership as there is a lot of work to be done. A lot of areas that are ground under repair. The 9th whole was the only hole with nice bunkers. Some of the greens had dead spots on them. Tee boxes were pretty bad on a good amount of the holes. Fairways were in good shape. Staff was friendly and practice areas were fair. Would certainly come back once a lot of these things are updated.
Better Every Round
The new owners of this course have really turned it around. 3-4 years ago Timber Trace was a shell of its potential. The new owner and greens keeper have invested much time and effort into restoring the course to its glory. Absolutely love the layout. Timber Trace gets better every time I play it!
Solid Course
Felt like I was up north. The greens and fairways are really nice. Some of the bunkers are still in the process of being restored so they have stuff piled in them, but everything around the greens is nice which is most important. Nice to play now, in a year or two it will be awesome.
A great comeback story
Timber Trace was terrible one year ago. The new superintendent and staf has been amazing. From a broken course to one that is great to play. Going from not being able to find a good patch of grass to playing all shots down. Great clubhouse staf.
Excellent course
Course was beautiful. But not a great value as the greens were recently airrated and were terrible. They should disclose that before you booked. I will be back to play in the spring
Solid
Bunkers are mostly gravel, but other than that the course is good for the price. Nice layout considering half the holes go through neighborhoods. When I played, the pin positions were only accurate to the sheet they gave out on 9 or 10 of the holes, but that's really minor.
Great Course!
Interesting course in fantastic condition and outstanding greens. Excellent practice range, one of only in the area. Great value.
This was a pretty forgiving course which was perfect for our 15 -20 handicap group. Would’ve liked to see the bunkers ready for action as opposed to g.u. r.
New Owners = Major Improvements
Played here early last year and the course was in Brutal shape and severely overpriced. After hearing that the new owners were making vast improvements and being a fan of the layout I decided to give it another chance. They've done an amazing job restoring the the overall condition of this course.
Awesome course
This was my first time playing this course. I live an hour away in metro detroit and I am definitely going to play this course a couple more times before the season is over. New favorite course. Under new management, excellent staff. Course was in perfect condition. Hidden gem.
new management doing great work
Course is in great shape
My new favorite to play in the area
Great course
First time here, really impressed at the conditions. Staff obviously works hard to keep it maintained. Course is fairly open with no water hazards. Pace of play was reasonable, didn’t see a beverage cart though.
Encouraging comeback in progress
This track had suffered from a long period of neglect from the prior owners. Short of an endless supply of money, and in today's labor market, there is only so much progress to be expected in a short period from the new owners. So far so good. And the price is right for the condition of the course.
