Good course for the money
Pace of play was very slow for a course that was not too busy the day I was golfing. We had a group of 7 on one hole in front of us and there was no attempt from the course to split them. Other than that great course
Still playing
As I write this I’m still on the course. On hole 14 right now cuz a group of 8 felt like they would be faster than my 4 some. We have to wait at every hole for them. Other than that it’s goin good!
Great Value
Blackheath is a very enjoyable track. It is challenging but playable. Staff is very friendly and you can always get a great deal, even on the weekend through Golf Now. It is one of our go to courses in the area.
Great links, terrible amenities
Love the course. The links lay out is great. Second time here this year. But the staff and the course amenities need work. Ranger was the only friendly face and easy to talk to. Beverage cart girl didn’t want to stop and they do not take cards or even hold to pay in the pro shop. Very hot day and no water coolers. I’ll play again but will be bringing my own cooler of water.
For drinkers not golfers
Absolutely horrid course management, over booked tee times, ranger is always around but never pushes slow groups or suggests they let smaller groups play through and when you do try to play through, the slower group gets combative like they've never been on a golf course before.
Quit after 14 holes over 4.5 hours, with front 9 being just over 2. Very easily could have been a 6 6.5 hour round for a 3 some that played ready golf.
I give this course a shot every year and every year it's the same thing. Not somewhere to play if you actually want to golf.
Playing Blackheath
Course in very good shape. People were each and all very positive and pleasant. Pace of play was good until we got behind a foursome who slowed the pace significantly.
I’ve played this course many times and the condition and layout is good at a good price
Just need to keep working on pace of play
I will definitely play again.
Good value
Pace of play is always slow at this course, but if you have the time, its a good course for the money.
Blackheath for the win.
Played 10-18 first and as a two some. 1:45
Joined another couple for 1,-9 after waiting 10 minutes at our Turn, 2 :00 for that nine.
The course was in nice condition, the 10-20 mph breeze kept it interesting.
Tee TIme Issue
I made a tee time under GolfNow on Friday June 7th for Blackheath Golf Course on Sunday June 9th at 11:54am.
i get to the course to check in, my tee time wasn't listed. I got 18 holes with a cart for $7/person for 4 people. i know it was an amazing deal and almost too good to be true but it was under your website and nothing worked. we were lucky to even get into the course and my convenience fee should be refunded. I'm not sure what happened if it was GolfNow's fault or Blackheath. If the deal i got was a typo or wrong, it would've been nice to get a heads up instead of showing up to a course that was an hour away and having to argue with them that i had this tee time for a cheap price.
Awesome course great deal
Course is a links/heathland beauty that you would expect to be up north on Lake Michigan and that would cost 100 plus. We payed less then 30 and were very impressed. Wide fairways, lots of bunkers, fun layout. People give this place mediocre ratings based on the clubhouse.. who cares about the clubhouse? Go to a bar or a restuarant. The course is great A+
8 Hour round
I have never seen a golf course more overbooked.
Not only did we have our tee time delayed 20 minutes, when we pulled up to the tee box on 1 there must have been 20 people waiting in line to tee off. It took us a full hour just to play the first 2 holes. It took 3.5 hours just to play the front. So by the time it’s all said and done with the delay...almost 4 hours to play 9 holes. By the time we made the turn we were so frustrated we left after only playing the front 9, even though we payed for a full 18.
The course itself isn’t bad but wow is it poorly ran. If you enjoy spending 90% of your round waiting doing nothing, playing for 7-8 hours, and wasting your money be my guest.
I can’t recommend this course after that experience. I will not be going back.
Decent links course. Incredibly slow play
Course was in real good condition considering all the rain recently. Only issue from that perspective is that a lot of the tee boxes weren't flat. Not a huge deal but something that is a pet peeve of mine. If you haven't played here it is a links course with multiple short par 4s and a par 5 that restricts you from using driver off the tee if you hit past 240. So you wont be hitting driver on 14 holes here. The real big problem with my round was the pace of play. I assume it was a combination of overbooking and a lack of a ranger out on the course. Was waiting at least 10 minutes on every tee. 20 minutes on the first two tees. It's a solid course but I would not recommend playing it on the weekends.
