Slow Play
If you don't mind a 6 hour round of golf this course is for you. They had us start on hole number 10 and when we made the turn they were starting groups on hole number 1. We had to wait for everyone in front of us. Marshals are on the course but don't enforce pace of play. Too bad because the golf course is decent.
True Scottish Feel
This golf course is amazing. It felt like I was playing true golf in Scotland. The course is set up wide open, there isn't a tree on the premises. It's also set up to play the bump and run, or even putting through hills, just like links golf. Bunkers are deep and fun to get out of. Bring a case of golf balls though. If you miss fairways, it's tough to find your ball in the long grass (again, true Scottish golf). If you want a true test of links golf, play this course on a windy day like I did. It brings a true Socttish feel. Definitely will play again!!
OK but...
The course was in good shape but a bit dry and hard. We got off on time but were behind an outing so play was a bit slow. We never saw the beverage cart on the back 9 and in the 90 degree heat that was a bit disappointing.
Great Value--Need Better Beer!
Good course, challenging but not punishing. Very well kept, excellent greens. Pace of play was fine, not sure what the complaints are about--we played in 4 hours. Only major complaint is that the beer cart has lousy beer--let's get some Michigan beers out on these Michigan courses!!
Timing is everything
Do not golf here on a weekend, way overbooked and unorganized. Nice course, pretty fun layout.
Terrible Pace of Play
The golf course is nice, gorgeous views and it was well kept.
The pace of play however was atrocious. We were planning on 18 holes but had to leave early because it took us 5 hours to get through 13. We waited probably 20-30 minutes each hole just to tee off (extremely aggravating). It wasn't that there was a group of slow golfers, it's the fact that we had three groups at every hole waiting to tee off. Way overbooked.
Blackheath
The course itself was in very good condition. Staff is not friendly and made us grab our own hot dogs off warming rack after paying for them. Had a country feel for a course in Rochester.
Nice course, but did not golf?
Made a Tee Time on golfnow.com for 130pm they had a matchplay tournament going untill 1pm went to the 10th tee and saw 8 plus foresomes waiting on the second tee..I went home..
Horrible Pace of Play
We played in the middle of the day (12p tee) and the pace was horrible. Spacing of groups was too tight. Pace of play management by the Rangers was non-existent. My group and the group behind us waiting on every tee box from #4 to #18.
Course was is decent shape, but was over-shadowed by the 5 hour round.
Good course but painfully slow
Good course & good value, but pace of play is so bad that I probably won't go back. Do they really need tee-times every 6 minutes?
Good Value...no course and slope ratings.
I found the course in good shape. The transmission on the golf cart needed tuning. It was rainy out and the belt kept slipping. It would be nice if the course removed the rocks from the bunkers. I damaged my sand wedge...I guess the lesson learned is to stay out of the bunkers. The pace of play was good. I think we lucked out because of the weather....it rained on and off the entire round. Normally it takes 6 hours to play a round for some reason even though it's difficult to lose a ball since it's a links style course.
The clubhouse is nothing to write home about. We prepaid for the round of golf and asked what happens if we get rained out. Normally, courses will give you a rain check, but the cashier said that we would have to get a refund from the discount sight. Luckily we were able to finish.
It's very annoying that the course has let it's GAM /USGA Course and Slope Ratings expire. I track my handicap and I am not able to enter this round in the system. Very disappointing.
Slow Play
If you have 6 hours to kill and want to play behind a bunch of foursomes playing scrambles this is the course for you. The Rangers were useless, but they always are at most courses.
good course
good course but experienced very slow pace of game, took almost 5.45 mins to play.
Course in Great Shape but overbooked
It took 5+ hours to play 18 holes. Rangers didn't seem to help find the slower groups and request to speed up. Course was in great shape but won't be back again due to just slow play. Having to wait every single shot made it less enjoyable.
Great course
This course is great for any golfer. I went when there wasn't many people there but i still think pace of play would be quicker than most courses because it is so wide open and well maintained. There isn't a hole that is too challenging in length but every green had some type of undulation.
review
Great place to golf. The course has a great value for the conditions and layout of course.
Great value for the price
We love the course. We look at it as OUR HOME course. Tom and Mike are great. Always a good experience at the Heath.
cold day
Like to play this course in the fal,not too many trees so the course has not too many leafs.
Bunkers & Rough
Course overall is progressing well- Good Value and enjoyable to play.
a few things to improve--1 Get rid of Geese
2. Sift bunkers to get rid of rocks
3. Would be good to have some added info at the tee box on some holes-IE 17 how far to marsh etc. Or at least put that on card or some yardage books--there are several holes that it can become issue. Need to better define par fives so that cant cut or attempt to cut corners so much Number 11 is example.- If you are going to be a scottish links style then be that--several of the holes have such deep and wet areas in front of greens cant roll up.
Good Course
It is a nice course but not challenging. If you are a bogy player, I should be a good one. Try it.
