Par 4 fourth hole. Long and slightly uphill with a tree hanging over in the so called fairway. One of the few holes I enjoyed playing. Photo submitted by BuffaloBen15 on 10/26/2020
Not worth the time
Not only was it slow, they didn't charge me the amount specified on golf now. They charged me their spring amount plus cart fees. I won't be back.
Good course for the money
Good value, fast pace, good course for higher handicap players
City course
This course is close to home . Makes for a quick 18 with my 10 year old son. With Golfnowit is the right price.
Not laid out well.
It seems as if they tried to cram in so many holes onto a given plot of land. There are four eighteen hole courses at Maple Lane. All the fairways are parallel and next to each other with a row of trees appdividing them. Very few bunkers, no rough, no water. No imagination. Also, it appeared golfers were playing holes willy-nilly. On the 15th hole, a twosome majically appeared in front of us. Not recommended.
Great value for the amount of golf you can play.
Maple Lane is a nice course. It may not be top of the line, but with 54 holes a lot of golf can be played for a good value. The north course is very fun to play on, there is no water and few sand traps that make it a great course for players of all skill levels. The staff was friendly and helpful to guiding you in the right direction. There are three courses, so if you are new to the club it can be confusing finding your starting hole. A downside to this course is that there is a number of trees, some right in the middle of the fairway, and lead to leaves all over the greens that can be difficult to putt through, and too many leaves to simply brush out of your way.
with 3) 18 hole courses you can always get a tee time
This course can be a little conjested with the three courses all butting up together. If you want to boost your moral, you can score well here.
Good Value only with a discount
Due to distance, and convenience, I play Maple Lane 20+ times per year. It is a flat course with little to no hazards other than the older trees present. The greens are the best part of Maple Lane on the West and North especially, the fairway grass is only detectable because it is cut slightly shorter than the "rough", the good thing is its 54 holes so tee times are never typically needed. The bad- if you are playing the North there is absolutely no course etiquette for making the turn. The majority of the time i have plyed the North, i have had to play the back east to finish my 18 or wait behind players who hop around or play 9 and are sent to #10. If you want to play an un-interrupted 18, play the West. For twilight though all bets are off.
Inexpensive course
Great for beginners, didn't lose a ball, shorter course which i also liked.
Outstanding & Cheap
I love playing at this course. Every time I've played here I've had a good experience. The course is maintained like the most expensive golf courses in the area but half the cost. Greens are clean and divot free and even the rough is cut evenly throughout. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. It can get very busy but if you like to golf early in the morning you can stay ahead of the crowd and have an enjoyable round. Highly recommend this course.
Greens are great
Could not beat it for the cost. Staff deserves an atta boy, they treat you like a member not a customer.
Good course, Good Price
nice course, fast pace, carts need updating. Food and bar is reasonably priced. Very simple course with minimal bunkers and hazards.
Decent, hit it straight
There are 3 18-hole courses and the place is not as much of a shooting gallery as you might expect. Each fairway is lined with trees. If you do not hit your tee shot straight, you will hit a tree. Funny though, the ball often bounces back to the fairway. The greens are pretty tough with a lot of terrain differences. The greens are not often protected by bunkers to approach shots are easy.
Golf Now directions: wrong, course: nice, carts: very noisy, staff: very accommodating and friendly.
Staff was very appreciative that we called in advance when we had difficulty finding the course. This was nice to hear as Golf Now's directions were wrong. The course was nice and well maintained. The carts were our only complaint... they were noisy and didn't have much power. All in all, I would definitely recommend this course to others.
Early spring course
For the price, a good early spring course, Would not pay more then $25/18. Central location for north east Detroit suburbs, easy to drive to.
Not a good experience
We had a 1:10 Pm tee time on the North course. When we arrived, it was obvious that the course was totally overbooked. There were at least 5 or 6 foursomes lined up at the first tee box waiting to tee off and the course was still accepting walk ons! The starter suggested that we play the East course to avoid the logjam so we reluctantly did that (mistake - it's not USGA rated - you can't post your round). It was the first round of the season so I didn't expect good course conditions. What I didn't expect was really poor hole markers that made navigating your way around the course difficult. All in all, not a course I would want to play again and the thing is that the experience could have been so much better if the course management had just been a little less greedy. I really hope, for their sake that my experience was an anomaly.
This course is close to home.
The reason I play here is because it is 10 minutes from home. If it wasn't so close they couldn't charge what they do. If you're willing to drive a little you can find better courses for lower prices.
