Very Unpleasant Experience
Glacier Club is a course that gives off the impression of an upscale experience but provides almost no enjoyment in the process. More than half of the holes have slopes leading to cart paths which have out of bounds lines on the immediate opposite side of them as the course is densely lined with houses. Several times in my group yesterday, well hit tee shots would hit the fairway, and then catch slopes that would send them into a backyard and out of bounds. Beyond that, the greens are nearly impossible to hold, even with a short iron or wedge. If you are able to keep your ball out of the hundreds of backyards and hold the green, you then have to deal with some of the most ludicrous slopes and hole locations I have ever seen in my life. Several holes were located on top of slopes that looked to mirror a miniature golf course, and would have been physically impossible to hit an approach shot within 15 feet of. Glacier Club has a high slope rating, and it is a difficult course to score on, but not because it's a tough test of golf. It is more so challenging because it penalizes good shots as often as it penalizes bad shots. Additionally, some of the holes (#8 comes to mind) have a layout so contrived that you can really only laugh at what faces you off the tee.
In terms of conditioning, the fairways and tee boxes are in good shape, but the greens are bumpy and the course is very poorly marked. Tee boxes are not marked, very few sprinkler heads are marked in the fairway, and the 100/150/200 plates were often not the correct distance from the green.
Lastly, our 18 hole weekday round took well over 5.5 hours and the rangers absolutely refused to do anything to help out. As other reviews here indicate, pace of play is a serious problem at Glacier Club.
The overall conditioning of Glacier Club is not terrible by any means, but this was my third time playing the course, and in my opinion, it is neither a fun, nor fair, test of golf.
Painfully slow
I think we got stuck behind a group headed by someone important because they played a 4 team 4 man scramble at 20 minutes per hole. They were driving the golf cars up on the tees and greens and there was way too much beer involved. The Rangers seemed to ignore them.
Tough Course
Tough course that takes a few times to figure out. Shot 99, 107, 91 then 82 today the first four times I played this course respectively.
Lacking in customer relations
Lacking in amenities, example is restaurant food. All that is offered is hot dog/ chips along with a cart girl to provide drinks on the course. They want to be considered as up scale but are far from it. Club house is like a converted barn the so called resturants which is not functional at all with the exception of restrooms.
When I saw men wearing tank tops and groups driving three carts it became clear they only want money. They survive beacause of the residents ,reason being it is in there backyard.
If it wasn't for Hot deals on GolfNow they would be in a bind.
True links style golf course
If like links golf this course has it. Excellent greens fairways and tees, the only thing with this course was the club house needs some work and amenities. Pace of play was 4:15 for four players.
Up north look!!
First time playing the course and I was very impressed with the condition of the course due to lack of rain in the area.
The course had an upnorth feel with the layout it had as it was very challenging.
Would definitely play it again!
Glacier Club
Over 3 hrs. to play 9 holes. Could not even putt on the 18th hole, it was covered in goose feces ! Staff knows & does nothing about it.
Challenging Layout
I played this for the first time and I am a 16 handicap and a few holes -- I would have played four holes completely differently because of tight fairways lined with homes. Nice course and staff were wonderful! Went on Fathers day - rangers were extremely helpful.
Glacier Club
Course has 6 min. tee times. EXTREMELY SLOW pace, regular occurrence. Fair conditions, bunkers terrible. Management unfriendly. Cheap green fees. Rangers have no authority to move slow groups.
Good day on the golf course
The course was in excellent condition and the pace of play was quick (3 1/2 hrs). There was a beverage cart but she didn't ask if we wanted anything either time she came by. (?). Greens were fast due to lack of rain but they rolled smoothly.
approach shot critical
Caught up to two slow foursomes on the back nine but weather was perfect and the course fun. New condo construction detracts from the view but course layout not negatively impacted. Missing the green on many holes means very difficult wedge shots, so plan your approach shots carefully.
Backup on First Tee
We had a tee time for 7:42 and when we arrived at the first tee at our allotted time there were 3 other groups in front of us. The starter was very apologetic however we did not get off until almost 1/2 hour after our tee time. The entire 18 holes we waited on every tee shot. It was extremely slow. The price was good, but I will definitely think twice before going back there again. The pace of play was just too slow. The course itself was in good shape.
Glacier Great Condition
Played Saturday morning as the first group out, only a twosome as the others did not show up. Course allowed us to go out and course is in excellent shape, greens are smooth and fast and rough is tough. A lot of construction going on around the course but still in great shape
One of my new favorites!
In an area with many great golf courses, this is one of my new favorites! In great shape, some elevation changes, and fast greens it is a fun course!
Great course
Went off in a twosome early morning and had the whole course to ourselves. Can't beat a Friday morning on the golf course.
Very Well Kept Course
They do a fantastic job of grooming the course at The Glacier Club. It's kept as good as any course I've been to. It's a pretty challenging course but fair. The pace of play varies but the price always seems to be reasonable which makes it ok if you do fall into a long round filled with waiting.
Classic Arthur Hills Design
Course is in great shape, especially for lye in the season. Greens had just recently been airated but you could tell they have taken the time to roll them and get them back into playable conditions. The course itself is challenging but fair. I am a 4 handicap and shot 79 from the black tees which are second to the back. All par 3s vary in length which is my pet peeve for some courses where you hit 7 iron on the four par 3s. Play this course and you won't be disappointed. Ranger on the course on a Monday means they care about the pace of play. Enjoyable all the way around.
Fun Course
The pace of play was a little on the slow side. However, it was Sunday with great weather late in the season so people were trying to get in their last few rounds.
The course makes you use all the clubs in your bag. The greens were in great shape (aeration had not started yet) and were challenging.
Go play.
Pleasant all around
Fun course with a lot of good combination of open and tricky looks. Green speed varied a little, but altogether a great outing.
Thanks for the comments but I don't think you're talking about our golf course. Our club house is a 100 year old converted house. We offer a full menu for our restaurant, and a full bar.
Thanks, Glacier Management
