Scenic course, good conditions a fun challenge
I thought glacier club was up there with the likes of greystone, not quite as picturesque buy a nice course. I don't love the houses so close but playing early and no one bothers you, and they're beautiful so certainly not complaining. The greens are in ok shape, no fault to the course tho, I didn't see a single person on any green I passed fix a ball mark all day, I was fixing as many as I could within reason but the laziness of other golfers impacts the conditions for everyone. Pace of play was good, I was paired up with a peculiar father son combo but they were friendly enough, a little slow but again not the courses fault. The greens are FAST when it's dry, lots of elevation changes and multi tier greens but it keeps it fun! From the tips it's 7,139 yards but it didn't seem ridiculous, a nice variety of hole shapes, distances, hazards etc. Overall very happy I played here, if you're on the fence at least try it one time and see what you think
Glacier On the Upswing
First, Glacier's new management is doing a really good job of bringing this course back from several years of neglect. Tee to green course condition has dramatically improve...IMO a 4 on a 1 - 5 scale.
Greens are comparable/better to other local public courses...greens roll fast and true - best feature of the course. Fairways in good shape.
Rough and areas off fairway still need attention in certain areas...some bare spots and areas needing TLC (many holes lined by homes relatively close to the course...); however, understand course conditions will continue to improve as management executes their 3-year plan. Traps could also use some additional sand and TLC...several are very thin on the sand quantity).
Friendly employees, driving range significantly improved/upgraded - facility upgrades are looking good. One of the best values available in the area...the weekday Senior special is especially attractive.
# greens
Greens were on poor shape, not so much the fault of greens keeper as it was the fault of lazy golfers who would not repair ball divots.
Fun and challenging course
Lots of elevation changes on this course. Water and hazards are well placed on most holes. Several position-golf holes force you to use most of the clubs in your bag. It was raining in the morning and there was some standing water on the course. But drainage seemed to be reasonable. Greens were in decent shape and fairly quick, even though it was wet. Houses along the fairways are sometimes placed in really precarious positions ( ;-) ). Despite the rain and the fog, this was a fun round.
This course is very has great features
Nice course I will come back. Had a nice round but ran into slow people that didn't let me play through.
Be straight with your tee shots
Some moderately tight tee shots on the front nine. The course was in generally good shape with nice greens. Pace of play was very bad due to an outing even though the ranger(s) tried to help. Overall worth what I paid.
Great course but small greens
This course is always a good play but the greens are way to fast to be as small as they are. Par 5 greens were smaller than some par 3 greens. Nonetheless its a great place to play but make sure to bring your own drink as there isn't any drinking water available on the course.
6 minute tee times, really?
I'm one of the guys that plays golf early morning to avoid 5 hour rounds and the heat of the summer. So I was very disappointed when I got to the first tee at Glacier Club on Sunday morning for my 7:12 tee time and saw 6 foursomes on the 1st hole. (3 playing the hole and 3 waiting to tee off). Come to find out that their tee times are 6 minutes apart. In 20 years of playing golf I have seen 8 minute tee time but mostly it's 10 minute, never 6 minute. When I questioned the starter his response was it "opens up after 3-4 holes." When I explained that it would take us and hour to play those 3 holes he tells me they put gaps in the tee sheet to make up for it. Of course the gap is at 10 am almost three hours after we tee off only helping the people teeing off AFTER 10am. Then he tells me if everyone plays "proper golf" there would be no back up. What an improper thing to say as I watch the two groups hit balls OB and not take stroke and distance - which would actually take longer.
The only one the benefits from 6 minute tee times is GLACIER CLUB. They overbook the tee sheet assuming that a few people will not show up for their tee times so early and they can maximize their green fee potential. And if everyone shows like they did this past Sunday morning, they take your greens fee for your schedules time BEFORE making you wait a extra 20 minutes to tee off.
The course was in great shape for a $39 on the weekend. Maybe the guy making the tee sheet should take a lesson from the groundskeeper on how to satisfy their customers. Come on Glacier Club Management, you guys are better than this.
Glacier club still delivers!
Glacier Club is still a very well kept nicely manicured golf course. I haven't played there in years and was nearvous it deteriorated. I was pleasantly surprised it hadn't and still delivers a good challenge and well taken care of facility. Service was good also!
Good experience
Played in the hot part of the day and no water coolers on course, only issue. Being water, don't count on a bev cart. Course was in good shape. There were many ball divets on the greens that people should have taken care of but that isn't the fault of the golf course management.
Nice round
This was my second time playing Glacier Club in as many years. The staff was phenomenally welcoming and a joy to talk to. The course was good but not great. Many diviots that were not replaced so the fairways weren't amazing but outside of the diviots the fairways were nice and played well. The greens were extremely quick on 75-80% of the holes. The inconsistency on the few holes that were slower was frustrating. All in all a very good course with a solid pace of play. Great value for the $23 round we got on golfnow.com
Ron The Starter
The starter Ron has some anger issues. While I was Teeing up, he drove his cart in front of me and yelled, "I would have never let you out as a single". What kind of a person would do that? So if you like to go out and have a good time , try and stay away from Ron, he's out of control. This is the only reason I gave the course one star.
Hot and Humid
Played on sunday 7-19-15. Greens do not hold approach shots. Greens are very fast and undulating - can be frustrating. Bring your "A" game. Sand traps are poorly maintained, not raked at all. It is obvious that the mgt. is in a cost cutting mode as far as maintenance goes. No water coolers. Water fountains at the bathroom facilities don't work. No cart girl on a hot Sunday until after 10 am. Thank goodness we brought our own drinks. Pro shop is not a pro shop. More like a place to pay for golf, and nothing else.
Great fairways and green
Loved the greens. They paced play 5 mins between groups. Only wait was 18th hole
Love the course
New ownership has brought this Arthur hills design back to life.
Golf now incentive
Very nice. Will return when construction abates. A bit noisy in some areas due to home and road building.
Great value
Great value for notice. Interesting links-like course with enough trouble to be a challenge. Some easy holes and some good risk/reward holes. I recommend.
Getting better!
This course was neglected and mismanaged for the last 10 years, but with the new management, this course is getting better. The greens and fairways are so much better now.
Diamond in the rough
Excellent track. Diamond in the rough because I didn't expect the excellent value for the money. Front nine had lots of residential housing and back nine nowhere near being as populated. Starter and ranger kept pace of play consistent.
