Course Continues to win
The course is a little narrow overall and there is usually trouble on one side or the other. The real challenge though is the rough by the greens and the greens. Although they have slowed them down are group saw a lot of 3 putts for the day and many times two chips;
Everyone was over their handicap; 2 golfers at 12 or less handicap and no birdies for the day . This is why the title is course continues to win. This was our 3rd time playing the course and although someone has an okay 9 no memorable 18 hole scores.
Range and practice greens are nice
Only down side is the clubhouse has very limited food this season.
The course was great
It's a very good course if you like a challenge. Don't go out expecting to shoot 80 that's for sure
Challenging layout but worth the time.
I read many reviews on this site before our outing, and was plesantly surprised by the course. Much was written about the greens. I found them to be fast, but not unfair, I've seen much faster greens at Atlas Valley and Warwick Hills. They roll true and have a lot of undulation. It was written that they were bare and like concrete, every well hit shot to the green stayed on and one sand wedge even backed up. I think the bare spots were old ball marks. The sub surface of these greens seem to crater making it hard to repair ball marks to be invisible, I'm not sure if that is a product of the hybrid bent grass used on these greens. As for the beverage cart it was around 4 times and there are two nicely kept bathrooms, no water on the course so take a couple of water bottles. All in all, a very nice course, hard but looks great and the staff is wonderful.
Great course
Great course, challenging from the tips. Pace was good,4 hrs. In peak hr. Greens were good. Fairways great, rough was great and long in some spot, dead and short in others. Bunkers looked good, never got in one. Some of the tee boxes needed a little tlc. Give it a year and this course will be a must play, new owners need to put money and TLC. Overall worth the 1 1/2 hr drive for me
Great Potential, Needs Immediate TLC
The course layout and views are enjoyable (with the exception of the 1st hole that has large tree in the middle of the fairway). A nice mixture of well placed fairway and green bunkers, with a little bit of water mixed in. Great undulation to the whole course and some real nice views.
The real issue is with the condition and maintenance of the course. The players and management are destroying this course! Not sure if it is a lack of respect for the course, but the tee boxes are beat up and the greens are even worse. Divots all over the place and ball marks on all the greens. The greens are getting bare and the ball jumps all over the place when putting. REPAIR YOUR BALL MARKS PEOPLE!
All in all, if some care was taken and people respected the course, it could be an elite course.
Course need work
I have played here a few years ago and the course was in much better shape then. This time I noticed it needed attention. I found the tees were filled with crab grass the rough was too long and the greens had many ball marks. The bunkers were very good. The course layout is challenging on a whole I would recommend playing. My only other suggestion would to add one more tee box between the white and the forward(lady) tees.
Terrible greens-fast but in bad condition
obviously the management screwed up on maintaining the most important feature of any golf course-their greens. These were cut way too short and were in very poor condition. Balls marks-spike marks galore-why don't you have sand stations through-out the course-so players who know how to take-care of a course can refill their divots. Tee boxes needed divots filled in too. It's too bad about the greens condition as the layout was interesting.
This course reveals the quality of your game
Enjoy the challenge of this course. Extremely well laid out and difficult. Fast greens and although fair still requires accurate shot placement. You earn what you shoot.
Staff extremely friendly and accommodating. Only problem is that the whole course tilts to the east and your putts do not break by what you see..in other words reading greens is very difficult
glacier golf club
glacier was in great shape, rough was a solid 2inches all around the greens so it puts a premium on hitting approach shots on the green.
Course Needs Work
Layout - OK. Course condition needs serious attention. Greens too thin, no grass, fairways are approaching same condition. Signage needed to indicate hidden trouble. Good for practicing, but not for competitive play. Rangers a bit grumpy & at a loss to the direction given from Club house.
Great track
The course has a great design the greens were a little cut up but very fast tight fairways fun place to play
Great course for money
Excellent driving range and the course is challenging for all levels. Especially the greens which are very fast. Overall great course.
I've had better
I've played Glacier a few times in the past, but this course has seen better days. First off, the tee boxes need a little TLC. The fairways are in decent shape, but divots need to be repaired. The greens on the other hand are pretty bad. Ball marks are scattered throughout. The grass was cut entirely too short, which makes the greens way too fast and firm. The only way you're going to hold a green on an approach is if you hoist it way up in the air and land it softly, don't even dare to go after back pins. I'm sure the horrible winter didn't help matters, but big brother down the road (the orchards) is in fantastic shape, so it mostly reflects on bad course management. Decent track for the money, needs time to heal.
Winter hurt.
The greens were in terrible shape, made it impossible to make anything outside of 5-10 feet. The back 9 didnt have very good yardage markers.
really poor greens
Greens were in very rough condition, bare spots a plenty - ball marks not repaired - cut very short.
Tees were OK - fairways were good but very tight lies. Hot dogs and that's it.
not for seniors.
Course in need of TLC
We thought the course needed some serious attention.... weeds, burnt greens. Arthur Hills design not one of his best
Course in rough shape
Every part of the course showed wear from play and poor management. Greens were both burned and over watered. Greens were fast and true if you hit good grass and the shame of the course is that you can see the true beauty and potential for a great track. The layout, rolling fairways, and greens all give this course tremendous potential. If they can fix the greens this course is an A+.
First Time
overall the course was in good shape.....greens cut way to close very very fast....if you don't have gps or have never played here before you'll find only one ball washer on the course and no indication of what the hole does...no signage. also no bathrooms or water on the course.
If you find a Hot Deal, play. If not, don't.
This course can be a stern test of every facet of your game. It can play rather long, especially from the tips. It can play rather narrow, with lakes/marshes/lateral/O.B. lurking on seemingly every tee shot. And the greens more often than not, even after rain softens the course, play firmer than expected for some reason and can putt ridiculously quick with tons of break. That being said, if that's the kind of test you're looking for, then by all means give it a shot once in awhile. But if that's not quite your cup of tea, then you'll save yourself hours of frustration and countless golf balls by skipping it entirely. The conditions of this course used to be much better maybe 5-10 years ago (albeit most courses this year suffered "winter burn"), but quite frankly if you're making the drive to this area of town, you'll be much better served driving an extra 1/2 mile up the road to a certain course that I'll refrain from naming that has an apple in its logo because it far exceeds anything you'll find here.
Great course for the money!
Paid $26 for 18 & cart and was thoroughly impressed with the course for the money.
