Tough but fair
This course is very challenging. There are a lot of elevated greens, forcing you to make good iron shots. Course is in great condition, and for the low prices you can't beat it.
Cold day on the course
It was cold but the course was great and busy. Challenging course fo all levels.
Great course slow play
Had afternoon tee time tee was open so got off 30 early behind another twosome flew through 4 but then ran into some dandies who needed many practice swings and needed to do the grass toss to check wind direction. Was waiting about 5 minutes on every hole after that as they would not let twosome in front of us past so what should have been a 4 hr round into a 5 hr deal. Should have a ranger watching out for this type slow play but great track and they are doing a great job maintaining course.
There's No Place Like Home
After playing Florida courses for the winter it was great to be back home in Michigan and play on real grass!
Glacier was in really good shape and not overly crowded which made for excellent pace of play.
The course is challenging but Very enjoyable!
A great deal for the price especially for seniors.
Definitely will be back
Great shape for late october
There werent many leaves on the course and it was in great shape for late october golf. I enjoyed this course and would recommend it.
Nice challenging course
Very nice course . Some elevation , tight fairways and greens that roll like a pool table make it challenging for a beginner golfer. Also wasnt real fond of all the houses that line the course. But i will say the fairways and greens were top notch. I was also very impressed how few leaves were on the course compared to alot of these other courses ive played.
Often slow
Tough course for low skill player
Labor Day Twilight
Couldn't beat the price to tee off at 3:30 PM on Labor Day. However, there was a member outting finishing up in front of us that made the pace of play extremely slow. I don't think any member in that outting fixed a ball mark all day. I would routinely fix 4-5 on every green, this made for some very poor putting conditions.
Good course
Good course but pace of play was brutal.
Worth it.
Course is certainly worth playing.
Slowest round ever
I booked a twosome tee time for 645 am. 2 foursomes went off before us. The pace was so slow with no monitoring that we did not finish our round until 11:25 or so. We were on the tee box with the foursome in front of us nearly every hole. Otherwise, the course was great and the staff was very friendly. I will go back, but it should not take nearly 5 hours for a twosome that early in the morning, ever. My last experience at this course was much better.
Very Unpleasant Experience
Glacier Club is a course that gives off the impression of an upscale experience but provides almost no enjoyment in the process. More than half of the holes have slopes leading to cart paths which have out of bounds lines on the immediate opposite side of them as the course is densely lined with houses. Several times in my group yesterday, well hit tee shots would hit the fairway, and then catch slopes that would send them into a backyard and out of bounds. Beyond that, the greens are nearly impossible to hold, even with a short iron or wedge. If you are able to keep your ball out of the hundreds of backyards and hold the green, you then have to deal with some of the most ludicrous slopes and hole locations I have ever seen in my life. Several holes were located on top of slopes that looked to mirror a miniature golf course, and would have been physically impossible to hit an approach shot within 15 feet of. Glacier Club has a high slope rating, and it is a difficult course to score on, but not because it's a tough test of golf. It is more so challenging because it penalizes good shots as often as it penalizes bad shots. Additionally, some of the holes (#8 comes to mind) have a layout so contrived that you can really only laugh at what faces you off the tee.
In terms of conditioning, the fairways and tee boxes are in good shape, but the greens are bumpy and the course is very poorly marked. Tee boxes are not marked, very few sprinkler heads are marked in the fairway, and the 100/150/200 plates were often not the correct distance from the green.
Lastly, our 18 hole weekday round took well over 5.5 hours and the rangers absolutely refused to do anything to help out. As other reviews here indicate, pace of play is a serious problem at Glacier Club.
The overall conditioning of Glacier Club is not terrible by any means, but this was my third time playing the course, and in my opinion, it is neither a fun, nor fair, test of golf.
Painfully slow
I think we got stuck behind a group headed by someone important because they played a 4 team 4 man scramble at 20 minutes per hole. They were driving the golf cars up on the tees and greens and there was way too much beer involved. The Rangers seemed to ignore them.
Tough Course
Tough course that takes a few times to figure out. Shot 99, 107, 91 then 82 today the first four times I played this course respectively.
Lacking in customer relations
Lacking in amenities, example is restaurant food. All that is offered is hot dog/ chips along with a cart girl to provide drinks on the course. They want to be considered as up scale but are far from it. Club house is like a converted barn the so called resturants which is not functional at all with the exception of restrooms.
When I saw men wearing tank tops and groups driving three carts it became clear they only want money. They survive beacause of the residents ,reason being it is in there backyard.
If it wasn't for Hot deals on GolfNow they would be in a bind.
Thanks for the comments but I don't think you're talking about our golf course. Our club house is a 100 year old converted house. We offer a full menu for our restaurant, and a full bar.
Thanks, Glacier Management
