Located in Ypsilanti just off I-94 between Detroit Metro Airport and Ann Arbor is Eagle Crest Golf Club, operated by Eastern Michigan University and home to the college golf teams. Eagle Crest opened in 1987 and is a daily-fee course with a Marriott hotel located onsite. The elevated driving range and practice area overlooks Ford Lake and the course layout features several holes that play along its shores. The highlight is the signature par-5 16th hole that features a shallow, peninsula green on the lake. In 2012, EMU embarked on a 20-year master plan to the golf course that will elevate the stature of the course among NCAA host courses. Enhancements include tree management and more views of the lake, rebuilt greens and rerouted cart paths.

Fun and Challenging Back 9

Played the back 9 after work the other day around 4:30pm. 10 and 11 I wish I could have done over as they are tricky driving holes so could have saved some strokes likely if they came later in the round or now that I've played them once I know how better to attack them. 10 it's OK to hit driver cause it opens up and 11 you need to hit at least 220 to get around the corner.

Cart Path Only stinks at any course and it was pretty wet after the rain they had but greens were in good shape. Layout has a fair amount of water on the last 3 to 5 holes on the back. Distance is needed, some really picturesque holes w/ Ford Lake in the background. Got windy down there too. I'd go back, food was excellent on the patio as well.

Great course, but bad decisions lately

This is a wonderful course and I've played it regularly over the past few years. I gave 5 stars for the course condition because over the long haul that's a fair rating, but I have a complaint. The staff members are great, the facilities are very well kept, and the conditions of the fairways and greens are typically excellent. That said, I have to say how disappointed I am with the trend over the last 3 years . They have simplified the course by cutting down dozens of trees with the most recent move being the worst, by far. They cut down a giant oak tree that protected the green on #11 and in the process robbed one of the signature holes in the area of every bit of its personality. Now it's just another meh dogleg right par 4. The more fundamental problem: this was a magnificent tree that must have been well over 100 (200?) years old. This was a terrible decision and it resulted in an irrecoverable loss. It makes the whole course feel less special.

Thinking golfer’s course

Good layout that presents decisions to make or break your round on virtually every hole. From the blue tees a good test of when to go for it or play for position. Downhill putts - look out ! Be sure to play for low side of the hole. Par 5s are a good challenge with small greens making risk reward on going in two not favorable. Only down side is green are hard but true

Fantastic Course

Have never golfed this course and will definitely be going back. Great challenging course and great staff. Greens were in amazing condition as well. They did have an outing going so pace of play was a little slow.

Had a BLAST!

This was my first time to play here as I'm in town for work so here is my take:

1) Staff was great! As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted with a smile. Pro Shop was a little small, but they do have anything that you might need in a last minute situation.

2) I started off by hitting a bucket at the range which is right behind the pro shop that overlooks part of the course. Large bucket is roughly 75 balls and was only $9.

3) The Marshall was really nice and upbeat. We cracked a few jokes before he told us to get out of there and go have a good time.

4) Course was very well maintained. The fairways were neat & manicured while the rough was still very playable. It's a challenging course, or at least it is for a novice golfer like me. The greens were very fast, but they were in great shape.

5) WATER HAZARDS! I lost two balls to water. While the scenery is very nice, there is water lurking around every corner! Lol Ok maybe not EVERY corner, but there are several just waiting to get you so be sure to check before you swing.

6) Pace of play was a bit slow for the first 4-5 holes, but once we played through it was smooth sailing all the way.

Overall, I really enjoyed myself despite shooting an 82. I will PROBABLY be back this coming Sunday to try and break 80.

Underrated Gem

What a pleasant surprise!

Staff all very welcoming.

Fabulous practice facility. Largest, most beautiful range in the state!

Golf course challenging with plenty of tee options and length but not tricked up.

Fairways and greens in great shape (if other players would fix their ball marks it would be perfect).

Save your money and stay away

This is a poorly run golf club. The staff is unfriendly and straight up rude (when they're even around to help). The rangers never go around to check the pace of play so the course is extremely backed up every time I've played. If you tee off after 8 am expect at least a 5 and a half hour round. The greens keepers and lawn mowers are the rudest and most clueless people I've experienced working at a golf course. They don't stop for people on the tees/in fairways/on greens and if they do they don't turn of their motors or move out of your line of sight/landing area. The driving range is built on a complete slant so there is little to no flat spots to hit from. I have never walked away from a golf course feeling like I had set my money on fire, but when I play at Eagle Crest it is a common theme. Use your hard earned cash at a driving range instead of playing at Eagle Crest.

Close to Lake and Goose droppings

You'd think a course of this caliber would have the tee boxes cleaned of goose $#!t. Other than that , nice place

Nice course and pleasant staff

We booked and played at the last minute. Turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The course was in very good shape, and we moved around the course ahead of normal pace of play.

Great Course

Stayed at the hotel and played 9 one day and 18 the next. Played from white tee's, loved the layout. The greens were also in good shape.

My kind of course for sure. There was some room to miss off the tee. If you miss you still have a chance to recover vs OB or red stakes on most holes. Greens were rolling true and in good shape. I would definitely recommend this course

Course was beautiful but overbooked causing slow play.

Not happy with golf now. This was a $15.00 course & I paid another $7.50 in fees and when I got there it was for walking offer. I did not know that when I booked. So basically I paid these fees for nothing and had to pay the regular rate.
