Eagle Crest Golf Club
About
Located in Ypsilanti just off I-94 between Detroit Metro Airport and Ann Arbor is Eagle Crest Golf Club, operated by Eastern Michigan University and home to the college golf teams. Eagle Crest opened in 1987 and is a daily-fee course with a Marriott hotel located onsite. The elevated driving range and practice area overlooks Ford Lake and the course layout features several holes that play along its shores. The highlight is the signature par-5 16th hole that features a shallow, peninsula green on the lake. In 2012, EMU embarked on a 20-year master plan to the golf course that will elevate the stature of the course among NCAA host courses. Enhancements include tree management and more views of the lake, rebuilt greens and rerouted cart paths.

Don't believe the score card
Changes to Eagle Crest have improved the layout if you haven't played there in the last few years. The course has been lengthened significantly from the tips and the longer distances were not reflected on the score card 9/15. Tee up if you need to score to enjoy your round.
Very scenic
Ford lake is a beautiful setting. Greens and fairways were superb
not for me
very slow play and the greens where extremely inconsistent.
Awesome course, beautiful layout!
A really picturesque course. Doesn't get much better in the area! Challenging holes and you can't beat the views!
Nice course but too many pedestrians and even wedding ON the peninsular green!
Let me tell you something I usually don't see on other courses. And I think this contributed a lot to the slow play too.
I played this course from time to time. It's lovely course and surrounded by lake. However, for many times I saw pedestrians walking on the course when we were teeing off or playing. I would guess these people must be from the Marriott hotel and they may even don't know that they should never walk on a golf course. But didn't the hotel tell them that they can't walk on the course when they checked in? Even they didn't , where is the ranger?
Besides the pedestrians (I saw 2 this time again), I saw something I have never seen before: we saw a photographer was shooting (wedding) photos for a couple. Initially they were on the side of the green. When we were chipping around the green, they kept moving around our balls and shooting and almost made us feel that we were the strangers and they owned that area. After we finished the hole, we saw they moved to the green and kept shooting the photos (it's a nice green and it's a peninsular green with lake background). The group behind us were just about 80 yards and were trying to play their approaching shots. Before we finished our next par 3, they were still there! We don't think the photographer and the couple just came to the course by themselves. There is a cart which looks like belong to the course (or the resort) and the lady drove them around.
This is a nice course and that's why golfers are willing pay good money to play here. But these pedestrians and even wedding photograph thing really changed my mind if I should come to play here in the future.
Poor starting
Good course but afternoon play is very slow. Starter also not very knowledgeable about how to manage the groups playing. Was on hole 13 and had 6-7 groups from 13 to 15. People on 15 were just teeing off.
great golf
I love playing here. Great greens! Nice looks all day.
Great Course
This course is one of the best in the Metro area. Greens are hard and rolling (quick). The condition of the course was great.
Beautiful.
Course is immaculate. The peninsula type green on the back nine is truly a challenge.
Should've gone sooner.
I was very impressed with everything the Eagle Crest facility had to offer. The course was in great shape and the layout of the course was the type of challenge that excites an avid golfer. It no doubt holds its own against the UofM and MSU courses. The practice greens and range are nothing but class (not to mention the UofM GC and Radrick Farms have extremely limited, if any public range usage). I will definitely be returning to Eagle Crest sooner than later.
Pace of play
Moved rather slow on the first nine (back nine). 3-4 groups on every hole. Waited at least 5 minutes on every tee. Never seen a ranger. Back moved much better, due to half the groups in front of us only playing 9 holes.
Great Course
This course is very scenic and very challenging. We played after several days of heavy rain and as a result the course played long and wet everywhere except the greens. There are a few multilevel greens that can be annoying especially if you're putting from an upper tier to a lower tier....impossible to stop some putts. Greens rolled fast and true while the overall course conditions and atmosphere resembles that of a private club. I'd recommend this course to my friends especially if you can catch a GolfNow HotDeal.
Great course
This is a beautiful course. The staff is very accommodating. The layout is superb. The greens are fast, running about 11-12. I love it.
Beautiful piece of land.
Tough course not fitting for some golfers. We played the first 5 holes at a good pace then hit a wall of backedup groups. It ended up taking 5 hours to play without a stop at the turn for anything to eat.The yardage on the tee markers doesnt match any of our gps systems so that was a problem. I would like to see a yardage book or gps on the carts either would help. The condition of a couple greens were suspect but most ran true and fast. My buddies said the traps were nice. hahaha
**One of the Best in State for the Money. Awesome Greens and amazing Views**
Fantastic course in pristine shape. Lovely views and great layout. Played from the tips and it's forgiving off the tee for the most part. Some harder holes for sure. Greens take some time to read so playing here a few times would lower scores by 5-10 putts per round. 5 STARS!!!
Wonderful view.
Great course. White tees have been moved forward making them more playable for average golfers.
Top notch
Being as I play here several times a year, I can say that the course is near peak condition! Greens are in great shape and renovations started last are near completion.
slow play killed the round
the foursome that we caught up to on the back nine must of been the reason for slow play on the front nine. the ranger was out there and i was surprised he didnt say anything to that group. they were playing from the back tee's and should have been playing up at least one set of tee's if not two. people who tee'd off an hour later then us caught up to us because of the slow play in front of us. not how you want to play on a cool weather day.
M14 West
Nice updates to course. Looking forward to returning when all holes are open.
