Course in excellent condition
Pretty golf course. Stay out of the rough as it is very thick. Had an excellent ranger on the course whe the group ahead had more than a hole open. I will definitely recommend and play thi course again.
Fabulous!!!
My first time out at Eagle Valley has won me over. Nice to play on a lush green course so early in the year. Love the layout with elevations and some picturesque shot making opportunities. The greens were challenging but true. I know because I seemed to be all over them except the hole! Lol! Friendly staff, beer cart,.....FABULOUS!!! We shall return!!
Great course to play
Course is always in great shape, Personnel are always friendly. Would play this course more often if it wasn't on the other side of town.
fall golf
Pretty open fairways but challenging around greens.
Houses are far off course. Long walks between holes.
High Value Suburban Course
Eagle Valley Golf Course is a high quality, high value suburban golf course. I played this course for the first time very late in the Minnesota season, the first week of November, but the course was still very playable and very enjoyable. One negative aspect of playing at this time of year was that instead of the normal five tee boxes ranging from 6,902 to 5,234 yards, there were only the white tees (6,197 yards, 70.2 rating, 129 slope) and the red tees set out. Another change to normal operations is that morning groups were sent out on both the first tee and the tenth tee. Our group went off on number 10, a 473 yard (from the white tees) par 5 that has one of the familiar characteristics of Joel Goldstrand courses- a forced carry into the green. The fairways are gently undulating with no significant elevation changes, comfortably wide and forgiving, and very well maintained. There are houses on at least one side of most fairways, but they are set well back and present no problem unless a golfer hits a really wild hook or slice. The rough was cut just high enough to make it occasionally hard to find a ball, but you could still hit it when you found it. The greens are large and reasonably fast. They were a little furry during our round, but that may be due to the time of year. In my opinion, the three finishing holes on each of the nines constitute some of the nicest sets of holes in the east Metro. Number 7 is a 138 yard par 3 with water on the left and the green guarded by three bunkers. A stately old farm house and barn overlook the tee box, adding to the picturesque nature of this hole. The next hole is a short (304 yards from the white tees) dogleg right par 4, but you have a forced carry over water to reach the best place in the fairway to attack the flag on an elevated green. The normal finishing hole is a 381 yard par 4 with a fairway that curves slightly to the left and has water all along the left side. Play your tee shot safely away from the water or challenge the water to have a shorter approach shot. I had a feeling while I was playing the course that it really reminded me of another course I really like- The Wilds. There are no dramatic elevation changes and no spectacular scenic vistas on this course, but otherwise it plays very similarly, and it definitely doesn't cost as much to play. Think of it as The Wilds on a budget. I will definitely be back to play this course next Spring
Great Fall Golf
The weather for this November round may have influenced my review because is was a beautiful, sunny day. The course was in great shape and the pace of play was good. The only negative was the sun shinning off the dew made tracking a rolling ball difficult the first few holes. Otherwise we had a lot of fun and discounted fees.
Perfection
Playing 18 holes with my wife on Nov 1 with temps in the 60's and a beautiful blue sunny sky - all for $28.40. Perfection. Course was in great shape and the course staff is very friendly and helpful.
Fun day at Eagle Valley
My first senior discount! If I lived in the Twin Cities, I'd play here a few times a year. It was a fun and reasonably challenging layout. It helped that we played with a local with great course knowledge. Knowing where to aim on holes 2 and 11 helped. Best ball washers I have encountered in a while. All of them had a great suds to water ratio and a good towel. Seems like I find more dry washers these days.
Eagle Valley
By far your best choice in the cities for the money.
Excellent track!
There's an excellent driving range and a huge practice green. The course was in very good shape. A great value for the price that was offered on GolfNow!
Highly recommend!
About as good as it gets for a municipal course
Overall, one of the better 4 star courses, but 5 stars for a municipal course. Hard to imagine anyone disliking their round of golf here.
Quality practice facilities: well-kept grass on range, nice putting/chipping green. Although, with as many sand traps as they have on the course, they could use a practice green with a bunker to practice those shots, as well as pitch shots.
Greens were in good shape and on the soft and fast side. Almost every putt was some combination of slightly uphill or downhill and/or left or right breaking. Some greens were also sneaky big, requiring unusually long putts at times.
The rough was moderately thick with a shorter first cut between the rough and the fairways.
Lots of ponds, some big, some small and off to the side. But about two-thirds of the holes had at least one somewhere.
Lots of bunkers as well, including fairway bunkers (a little over 50 total and a par 3 with seven).
Not a ton of variety of interesting/unique holes but layout was decent.
The course literally weaves in and out of the neighborhood with many holes bordered by houses.
Bathroom buildings and plenty of drinking water on the course.
Not super hilly or spread out, so walking the course should be doable.
They also had electric golf carts, which I always prefer over gas.
Great course!
Eagle Valley is a nice track with an interesting variety of holes. The greens are well maintained, roll smoothly, and are plenty fast. The only drawback to Eagle Valley. First, the only par 5 on the front 9 is the 1st hole. So, you better be ready to hit a good drive on your first swing of the round if you want to take advantage of it. All in all, Eagle Valley is a fair test of golf and an interesting walk or ride.
Nice course, Starter needs to relax
Really nice track. Marshall on the course was definitely a bird dog.
Starter scolded us at the turn because we split up. Try a more positive approach. If you don't want to work with people and talk politely, golf Is really the wrong sport for you to be associated with. We were very uncomfortable.
Challenging and well kept course
I was impressed with the course and enjoyed my round. It was windy so that added to the complexity of the course, and the greens ran fast. Definitely gave me a tough time but it was a great course.
Good Day, Good Course
The course is fair, fun and in generally good condition. Pace of play is pretty average, as it is usually busy. The only hole that is poorly designed is #8, just kind of a throw in hole around the pond.
Great course
Overall wonderful course and experience, very nicely maintained. Challenging approach shots but open tee shots makes for a fun competitive round without the risk of losing too many balls.
Only 2 issues i experienced were 1.) Thr ranger asking is to pick up the pace on the front 9. I understand the need for keeping the pace up but he was basing it on our distance to the group in front of us rather than our actual pace. We finished the front 9 in 1hr and 50 mins which is plenty fast for a 4some (which we had), I wish the ranger would have evaluated our pace not that the 3some in front of us was moving quicker.
The only other issue was 2.) slow service grabbing 2 hot dogs at the turn, but that may have been a fluke.
Nice course - Even better service
Not the most demanding track in the area, but it's always nicely maintained and has a great variety of holes that make it a ton of fun to play. Driving range is excellent as well. What makes this course stand out is the customer service...some of the best I've experienced at a public course each time I've played. Last weekend, I realized I had forgotten my wallet as I was walking into the clubhouse, but the head pro Josh honored a voucher that I told him that I had anyways. So great to see a business that's dedicated to getting customers to come back again and again.
