Crescent Farms Golf Course
About
Formerly known as the Players Club at St. Louis, Crescent Farms Golf Club has undergone more than just a name change with a major course renovation that included lengthening the fairways and reconstructing the bentgrass greens. The course has a parkland layout with mature trees lining the fairways and plenty of water coming into play throughout. There are also numerous strategically placed bunkers that appear along the greensides. Golfers will come across several risk-reward opportunities where good course management and accuracy are the key. One of Crescent Farms Golf Clubs toughest holes comes halfway through the golf course. The par-4 ninth hole begins with an intimidating tee shot protected by two fairway bunkers, a hazard to the left, and tall native grasses to the right. The challenges don't end there either, golfers are then faced with a second shot to a heavily bunkered, sloping double-tiered green.

Course under repair
Course should have either not posted on golfnow.Com or should have said they were under repair. Paid for 18 but only played the front 9 twice. Back nine had 4 fairways under construction so there was a total of 6 par 3's.
Golf at Crescent Farms
Back 9 had a number of fairways under alteration with temporary par 3 s provided. So I played the front 9 twice. The greens were a little fuzzy and slow, but in good condition. Repair of recent rail derailment adjacent to course resulted in a foul aroma and demolished parking lot. Expected to have the restoration of the fairways by August, 2015. Not aware of schedule for replacement of parking lot. This doesn't affect the round.
the course under renovation
I was surprised to find so many of the holes (something like 3 part 4's and one par 5) were under construction and were converted into par 3's. The attendant said the construction would be over in two weeks or so. Until then, I would not recommend this course.
N/A
Greens were excellent today, but the course is rebuilding a few fairways and the ground is mostly exposed. That should have been listed and some financial consideration given.
Nice course...but back 9 under construction...
Multiple holes under construction when I played. Greens were in good condition but a bit hairy and on the slow side. I look forward to playing when it's finished.
GOLF18
Several fairways on the back nine were extremely thin.
Rain in forecast
We went out around 1 pm and it was cloudy, but perfect the whole round. The grass wa pretty long int the tee boxes. Considering how much rain they had standing water was minimal.
exceeded expections
don't miss playing here you won't get any better for the price. a real treat.
Maintenance has gone to the wayside
The cart paths are basically deteriorating and flooded. It rained the day before so we expected some standing water but WOW. They were more like a goat trails. Tee boxes are worn out to the point that it hard to find a good level spot or grass to tee from. The greens were in surprisingly good condition, not to many ball marks. The groups in front of us and behind us were a loud bunch that seemed to be in their mid to late 20's that had no respect for the course or the others playing it. At one point there was 8 of them, yes 8 because they were playing in two seperate foursomes that decided to pair up as two foursomes and scramble. At one point they were all trying to get something out of a tree next to a green, no it wasn't a ball because we had to wait for them the entire hole because they refused to let us through which brings me to the Marshall or lack there of. The food at the turn was your run of the mill food, ie... hot-dogs, chips, soda and of course beer. 2 Powerades and a hot-dog should not cost $12.50 on any planet. Bar staff was very friendly but the Pro Shop could be more warming to the none local face. That will be my last and only time playing here.
better than a year ago but still needs work
I like the layout but the condition of the tea boxes and fairways need some attention. The greens were a little shaggy but overall were in good shape. I was disappointed in the fairways as I thought they were worked on last season. I'll play again after a couple weeks of sun to see if that makes a difference.
Challenging course, great bunkers
For the St. Louis are the bunkers actuall have sand not some form of dirt/sand mixture, course rewards good shots
Course was great
Great layout. Great staff. Green fairways for the most part. Greens a little bumpy; signs of recent aeration? Bunkers were actually nice to play out of (actually sand instead of mud). Love playing here and will definitely be back.
Good course for all level of players
Course was in generally good shape, although the recently aerated greens were still quite rough and the ball didn't roll true. I will play it again later in the season as it is always a good challenge.
Great value
Great course for the money. Not too easy, not too difficult. In good shape for this early in the season. Been to a lot worse places that cost a lot more in St. Louis. Fairways, greens, bunkers are all very consistent and in pretty good shape.
The pace probably would have been better if it weren't for a couple of the groups in front of us.
beatifull course
the course was in great greens were excellent fairways also challenging but not to difficult for the high handicapper
Don't play here on your Birthday!
There is an old saying that there is no "free lunch." Apparently, there is no free golf either for your birthday at Crescent Farms! I set up a tee time to play with a friend using their birthday coupon offer. Unfortunately, due to several days of rain, we were unable to play. I called and spoke to the golf shop and I was informed that I had to "play in the next two days or my coupon would be expired." Since my job prevents me from playing on the weekend, I guess I have my answer already. I inquired as to why they would not be willing to honor the coupon for another week, since we have four days of rain in the forecast and I was simply told that she "would not argue with me about it." I was in no way trying to argue, I was merely asking why the coupon couldn't be honored for a short time longer given the fact that we've had 2+ inches of rain each day for 3 days straight. Who wouldn't want to play golf in the rain on a water logged course for their birthday? Does one round of golf really hurt this course's bottom line? Am I crossing some kind of ethical or moral threshold? I understanding this course has good reviews in terms of their course, but in my humble opinion, a course who is unwilling and argumentative in simply extending a birthday coupon for another week due to flood conditions is greedy and not worth my patronage!
Cresent Farms G C
Had a great golf day! I'd have preferred a 27 dollar rate, paid full price of 53. Course was in great shape. Couple of tight fairways. Greens very nice.
Accuracy is essential here.
The course has many bunkers, water hazards, doglegs, and tree-lined, tight fairways; so accuracy is a must. The course was in better-than-good condition overall. The tees were in excellent condition. The greens were in near-excellent condition, except for a few thin spots. The bunkers were well raked. The fairways were in good condition.
Good condition, inconsistant greens
The overall condition of the course was good. Many of the greens had thin areas and shaggy areas making it hard to consistently judge speed. Several "hidden" water hazards that can not be seen from the tee so pay attention to the diagram on the scorecard.
