Good Course
This is one of my favorite courses to play in this area. It is very well maintained and has been in great condition every time I've played it. I can't say it's a great value. You probably get what you pay for. In addition to greens fees, you'll have to pay $2 to get into the Metropark if you don't have the annual pass ($10 to get in and then they take $8 off of your greens fees). It has also been busy every time I have played it. The most recent time, I paid $25 for twilight and got in 12 holes before dark.
All in all, I would recommend this course, especially if you can find a deal or play at a time when it is less busy. It is challenging, just because of the length of some of the holes, but is also very playable for most golfers.
Pace super slow
Course is nice for the money but no one out here pushing the pace of play. Current starting hole number 4 and 1 hour in already. Planned on playing 18 but I will only play 9 based on this pace
Great Course
I Love playing Kensington. the course is always in good condition. The pace of play is usually pretty good. The only negative I have is Not with the course, but with golfnow. I had a Gift certificate and had to call the day of golf to tell them that it wasn't showing up on there website that it was deducted from the total,. Waited 45 minutes to get through a rep which I was told they will apply right before I golfed.
Good Metropark Course
Kensington has the best greens of all Metropark courses in Michigan. Overall course was in great shape. They need to replace to hitting area mats, they are in horrible condition. Senior rates should apply before noon on Saturday for us early risers seniors.
I was pleasantly surprised with the condition of the course. All other courses have ruts, and then more ruts. The greens were in great shape, only wish people would fix the them after putting dimples in them. It’s not that hard guys and gals.Let the next group be able to enjoy them too. Thanks for a great day!
Great course!
I really loved this course! Great value, well manicured, and the scenery was so peaceful. We saw a few deer, plus there’s Kensington Lake. The atmosphere and course conditions were unique to the course! I will be back. It lived up to the hype!
Beautiful
First time playing here, very beautiful. Take High Ridge Rd. To Avoid paying the $10 to get into the park.
Stellar
Played this course on a Monday afternoon and it was terrific! We played 27 holes in under 4 hours. They pushed us out in front of their league for a replay 9 rate of $9.
It’s a long course with hills and tough greens and beautiful back drops. The par 3’s are tough but fair and there’s enough room for an avid golfer such as myself. Staff was extremely friendly I can’t recommend this course enough. The metroparks courses just do things right! You pay the park entry fee of $10 but they give you $8 credit towards your round so it’s really only $2 to get in.
Had a Great Time!
I have passed this course hundreds of times as I am traveling down 96 over the past 10-15 years and never took the opportunity to stop and play this track. The group I was will had a great time. I thought it had everything on the course. The traps were maintained very well. Greens rolled true. Spent a little bit too much time contending with trees on the back nine but if you are not going to hit the fairway you deserve a challenging shot. All in all we had a great time and I would play this course again.
Good but slow
I like Kensington but the pace of play is often brutally slow. The price is extremely fair so if it’s not too busy it’s still worth it.
Great Course / Frustrating Play
I've played Kensington for over 30 years and love the course; I understand that we played on Monday, Memorial Day and must take my complaint with a grain of salt:
absolutely the most excruciating Front 9 I have ever had to endure. We paid for 18 holes but over 2 1/2 hours later we had to stop play due to the people (NOT 'players') in front of us. Two threesomes, one behind the other, that could not move the ball directly forward. I can only hazard a guess that most of the time, these people fish, sail, picnic, or sit around a campfire strumming a guitar but never, ever play golf.
Entry fee to Kensington
My foursome got charged $10 for each car to get in into Kensington. We were told at the gate that the pro shop will reimburse us $8.00 each. When we spoke to the pros they told us that we don’t get anything back because we bought a hot deal on golf now. They you should have read the fine print. Really?? No exceptions. Will not go there again. (We paid an extra $32 to get in. It’s not a hot deal anymore)
Very mean and rude to kids
Ranger said “this is why we shouldn’t have kids play here”.
