woman's to long
We got a great deal though golf now. But the women's tees are to far to get there in regulation.Im one of the longest drivers I know and would still be 150 or more out. I And I only know 3 women can hit that far.The course was in Great shape!
Parkland Course in excellent condition
I have played here many times over the years. It is a wonderful course well worth the money
parking
Booked for $23 thought great deal. When we arrived paid $7.00 to enter park and told $5.00 would be refundeded at course. When checking in presented pass for refund but told because booked online no refund for parking. The reason given was had to makeup for cheap rate online. So actual price was $30.00. Beware if you book online add $7.00 to your total. Thought pretty lame.
Always a good course to play
Kensington is in very good shape for this time of year, everything is green and full and thick. The course always plays long as well as the greens are a challange because of the undulation. The grounds staff has done a great job with the condition of the course being in the best shape you will see all year long right now.
Greens
Greens were very slow. Play was very slow.Waited on every shot. Never saw a ranger. The group in front of us must have been playing for high stakes. Probably .25 cents a hole. lol Our tee time was 11:07 Felt like we were out there all day. Would not recommend
Be prepared...
....to tack on an additional $7.00 to park if booking via Golf Now. You don't get the $5.00 back if you prepay.
Great Value
Played during the day on a Friday. Excellent value for the round. Course is in good shape with some weather damage on the greens. Look forward playing again
Fantastic course for beginning golfer
T his is my first year playing golf and I am so happy that I discovered this course. The fairways are wide with few hazards. I also like the variety of his lengths.I also think that experienced golfers can practice their game at this course. The staff is so friendly and helpful and they manage the flow very well. I can't recommend this course highly enough.
This course is excellent
The greens are great, a challenging course if you don't hit your tee shots fairly straight.
RObbery at the booth
The course pricing is very unfair the guys in our group who paid at the course ended up paying less then the one's who used Golf now booking. Because the course is in a County Park they charge us $7.00 dollars to enter on top of the green fees. the one's who paid the course directly received $ 5 back, but we who used Golf now got nothing back, very unfair. I don't ever want to go back there again. They had a indifferent attitude about the situation.
Totally good
Total course yardage was long for me , but not so tricky course. It must be easier for long driver.
Nice family course
Great place to take the family to play.
All levels of players will be a fair test.
Nice Course
Very well maintained and no complaints. I wouldn't necessarily pay full price, though. There are too many deals to be had, through golfnow.
Great deal
Great course, especially if you can get a good deal. 96 traffic is the only disappointment.
Another day of golf
It rained for the first 11 holes...pace of play was good except for the first tee...4 groups bottled up and starter was confused...had fun...always a great day to golf!!!
fairways and greens were in excellent shape
The only thing missing is there is no real golf range
Great track and great staff
Very nice especially considering the winter we just came out of. A few greens had damaged areas but overall very good condition. Hit 'em straight...or else.
Better options out there.
Kensington is mediocre, at best. The course runs along the I-96 freeway and is therefore quite nosy. Pack your helmet as the holes are very close together in most spots. The greens are slower than average and in fair condition. The grass on the fringes and tee boxes are longer than most fairways. Staff was ok, athough they didnt have a ranger the day I played so play was excruciatingly slow. It's a government run course, so you will see plenty of staff standing around, doing what I dont know. The bathrooms were so filthy that one of playing partners, a woman, had to use the mens room. They also charge you $7 for entering the metro park so be sure to tack that on to the cost of your tee time. To summarize, there are too many nicer options on the west side of Detroit for a similar price to ever play here.
Too many better options to play here.
Kensington is a below-average course in its marketplace. There are simply too many better options on the west side. The starter told us the course and greens were in great condition, but I found it to be nowhere near the better courses in the area. The grass on the greens is longer than typical hence they roll slow. The fringes are very long, longer than the fairways at some of the nicer courses in the area like Moose Ridge, Links of Novi, or Tanglewood. The staff was friendly but play was quite slow. There are no rangers on the course directing traffic, which is surprising since there had to be 5-6 guys working/standing around in the clubhouse. The bathroom on the course are filthy, the woman I played with had to use the mens because the woman's was beyond dirty. The course is noisy and several holes abut the I-96 freeway. You can hear the roar of the freeway constantly. Some of the holes are configured on top of each other so bring your helmet. Overall Kensington is not a viable option on the west side if you want to play a nice public course. For the same price, you can play a much nicer caliber course. Lastly, you have to pay for entrance into the metro park, which adds $7 to the cost of your tee time. They reimburse you $5 if you book through them but NOT if you book on Golf Now. Thumbs down all the way around.
