Great course a little over priced.
Love this course. Great layout and challenging holes. Hopefully you don’t run into the Marshall. Playing a scramble with a Firestone and we all golf frequently, so we were ahead of pace being that we’re scrambling. The starter sends a group immediately out after us, so this ends up screwing us as we are being pushed by a threesome who could drive the ball (almost hitting us and playing the whites) but had terrible short game and we’re taking so much time on the greens. We were waiting for them to ask about playing through but us waiting for them to play through would have meant us waiting 5-10 minutes on the tee box when we could continue our pace. Unfortunately, the Marshall hears their side and decides we are the ones at fault and causes us to stop playing MID HOLE to let this threesome go through and tells us we need to let people play through in the future if we’re playing slow… mind you they never said anything to us and earlier in the round the Marshall drove by and had nothing to say about our pace. Then we finish our hole finally and what happens? We are waiting for them just as much as they were waiting for us but we are the ones who are at fault and the Marshall decides to blame us and confront us saying it is our fault, while this group was hitting into us due to errant shots when we are not even in their line but we let it go. A Marshall must do his job and keep everyone happy. He took his power used it in a negative way just because he saw they were waiting on one hole… makes no sense. How can you enforce golf etiquette from a complaint form someone who doesn’t follow golf etiquette. Very disappointed in that Marshall and him arguing with us to not hear our side of how things went. If I spend 200+ dollars to golf, I should be given respect especially if I’m respecting the course and the game of golf.
Typical day at Bear Creek
Per usual, the pace of play at Bear Creek was horrendous. 3 hours for 9 holes is ridiculous. My playing partner and I didn’t even bother playing the back 9. But the course was in decent shape and fun time
Course was extremely wet and was not best conditions to allow play. One bridge was flooded and had water going over the bridge from the creek.
Pace of Play
BC is always in solid shape. Range and club house are nice. Staff can sometimes be uninviting, but are solid for the most part. However, the pace of play is awful. Consistently 5+ hours - almost 6 last round there. Its obvious the course overbooks tee times, because its not like people are playing slow, theres just too many people crammed together.
Bear Creek December
Course was essentially cleared of leaves which was very good. Tee boxes were in extremely poor condition. Pace of play was far to slow. Took 3 plus hours to complete 9 holes. Club in my opinion over booked number of tee times. They need to put a greater gap between tee times - hopefully they are not just thinking of revenue. Had paid to play 18 but there was not a hope of playing 18 once we realized pace of play and number of players playing.
Over booked by course
more players showed then scheduled for a morning outing so all other scheduled players was delayed from their tee times by over 1 1/2 hours. Also very slow play and no course marshal
Slow and unhelpful
Place of play was terrible. Went off 35 minutes after tee time and took 3 hours to play 9 holes. Staff also wouldn’t provide rain check due to it now being almost dark after 9 holes
Great course great staff Good food
We had the best time at the 19th hole that was great hotdogs and most delicious hamburgers everything priced reasonably can’t wait to play again
Luke, thanks for your feedback and your 4 star review, we can always do better. We apologize for your slower pace of play. On Sunday we had our Irish Bear Open, with 144 players on cart path only, taking the entire course. If you played on Monday, we had our senior scramble with 2 more foursomes than expected. With 75 degree temperatures and the next 3 days calling for rain, we were busy. Please try us again another day when the traffic is slower and the pace is much better.
