Up and Down

As the name implies, most often you are teeing off from a hilltop, down a valley and up to the green. Greens often hard to read - several very slow, some fast even when correctly reading elevation. Lots of elevation on greens in very good condition. This is a tight course. Some nice scenery but you might also see activity on three holes when playing your hole.
Fairways are narrow and require accuracy especially on doglegs. You may need to be extreme right or left in order to have a good shot to the green. A bit odd there was not a starter on a crowded day but players moved along at a moderate pace.

Great elevation change

Our first time playing this course and the staff was friendly, the course well maintained, the layout very enjoyable and the pace of play fast. We really enjoyed the elevated tees on many of the holes and the presence of the varied terrain regarding elevation changes. Water on the course and a cart girl to serve up some nice cold beer; what a perfect day. Will definitely be back for more. Highly recommended.

slow

i've played twice here and the pace of play both rounds was good. greens are slow (the most recent round was very slow due to rain) and some are damaged. fairways and rough in decent shape. short course even from the back tees, which is odd considering the par 3's are all mid to long range.

Play proper tees and you'll find plenty of golf

Tight course featuring lots of elevation and terrain change. Playing from tips will bring a challenge from the par 3 holes. Staying below the cup is a must on most greens. Found course very enjoyable in set up and length. Pin placement was difficult for a Sunday and promoted slow play. Will play again during the week and reevaluate from there. Mature track. Most will enjoy

Great Course

I have played this course a few times before and it is always a nice one to play! The only problem is that I am a long hitter and the fairways play short. Love the course

This course offer a modest challenge for a great price!

This is a great fun course for the beginner up to the 10 handicapper. It challenges your driver straightness along with your ability to place the ball near the pin on the approach shot. The greens are pretty challenging on most of the holes. To me the biggest challenge are the tee boxes on every single hole! None of the tee boxes are parallel to the horizon, so you have to find a decent placement in order to hit your tee shot.

nice local course

Nice course to leave work early and play 9 or 18. Course is not difficult and doesn't have a ton of water, which is fine for my level. The green speeds can vary wildly from medium-fast to very slow. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Great course, but poor time management

We've golfed here several times. Once on a day when there was a special price. The course was backed up unbelievably and they refuse to start people on the back 9, so there were about 20 people waiting to tee off at the 1st tee box. Even on a normal day they won't start you at 10, so you have backed up conditions and people jumping around to other holes to try to get more golf in. They really need to manage their tee times better, i.e., pairing people up when there's a million twosomes out there, and starting people both on the back and front simultaneously. Better to get there EARLY, before 9am, if you don't want to wait to play at every hole. They also need to make sure people are playing "ready golf" and tell them to speed it up when needed.

Not bad

they need to manage there tee times. Why schedule a group of 4 players the same time as a group of 2, and then let the 4 man group start first? The group then did not let us play through so it made my expierience poor obviously 2 players will golf more fluently then 4.Though the management has no control over how people play they do however have the control to see a problem before it happens.

Short and tough!

The course plays a lot tougher than the 6009 yards on the card. You better be on your game or your not going to be happy with your score. I have always enjoyed playing Hilltop even when it humbles me. I would recommend it to anyone.
