Hilltop Golf Course

I had a great time playing this course! The staff was extremely friendly and the grass was well maintained. It was definitely a challenge though, with the swampy hazards and sloping greens. Nonetheless, the holes were diverse enough to keep me interested and the challenges kept me thinking about every shot.

Got to course which when booked was told I would owe $80 for 4 players, they said we owe $92. When asked why they said the price shown on golfnow was for seniors which was not displayed online. Cart girl was extremely rude and pace was super slow. Course condition was fair but not great and golf carts are very old and so slow that you might not make it up the hill. Overall I would not recommend this course.

Great day for golf. Paid for 18, only played 9. Pace of play in excess of 6 hours for 18 holes. No ranger present on front 9. 1st hole backed up 4 foursomes when I arrived. At hole 10, same 4 foursomes in front, so we decided enough was enough. No one in club house when I went back inside to inquire about a rain check due to slow play. Wasted my money.

Challenging greens and narrow fairways made for a great round. Play was a little slow but that is on the players not the course. Great staff, very friendly. Would definitely play again.

The pace of play was terrible. We played 9 holes in 2.5 hours. Super slow for an easy short course. We like the course but I think they let out too many twosomes and there were quite a bit of young players out there but without supervision. I am all for young players out there but not in carts without supervision.

Management needs to do a better job by pairing up everyone to foursomes on weekends and holidays and they need rangers on the course to speed up play !!!!

Course condition is decent. Drink cart availability seems spotty, but not sure. For sure, nothing but hot dogs ready at the turn. Hamburgers are discouraged because they are still frozen and not ready to be cooked. Staff could not care less and make you wait for 30 min while it defrosts. Immature staff to blame.

I've played Hilltop a number of times. Enjoy the track. Nice and challenging. Fun elevation changes. After a week of moderate rain, the course was in really rough shape. Lots of standing water, lots of mud. About 5 plugged balls between the two of us playing. Frustrating hitting a driver down the fairway and not being able to find the ball. Still had fun though.

I played here with a couple of friends. None of us are good. The place wasn't at all busy but about 2 or 3 times during our round there were some grumpy staff members who would pull up beside us at the tee box and tell us we were being too slow. I think only one group caught up to us and we let them pass through. I wouldn't go back but the scenery was nice and if you're not as bad as I am then you would like it better.

Good course but overbooked, tee boxes need to be flattened

Ok to just knock the ball around. Tee boxes are in poor shape and mostly weeds.

I was looking to get a birthday celebratory round of golf for a buddy in the South/Western part of Metro Detroit who hails from the Westland/Canton area.

Hilltop had some convenient early morning tee times available which I locked in and the rates were $25/round including cart compared to other courses nearby charging $40+.

This was our first time playing there and the score card had very minimal information on it regarding flag/pin placement as well as yardage marker locations.

We were constantly searching for markers and/or guessing our yardage throughout the round which was frustrating and the rough seemed a little high near the fairway.

The staff was friendly but like many golf courses could have used some portable bathrooms and water stations at more holes.

This course was in bad shape. They need serious attention to the tee boxes and a hand full of the greens. About 3 summers ago I played here and it was night and day. I asked a staff member and they told me it was under new management. This kinda explains some of the stuff. I'd never pay to golf here EVER again.

MY NEW FAVORITE COURSE. THEY DO A NICE JOB WITH THE FOOD TOO.

As the name implies, most often you are teeing off from a hilltop, down a valley and up to the green. Greens often hard to read - several very slow, some fast even when correctly reading elevation. Lots of elevation on greens in very good condition. This is a tight course. Some nice scenery but you might also see activity on three holes when playing your hole.
Fairways are narrow and require accuracy especially on doglegs. You may need to be extreme right or left in order to have a good shot to the green. A bit odd there was not a starter on a crowded day but players moved along at a moderate pace.

Our first time playing this course and the staff was friendly, the course well maintained, the layout very enjoyable and the pace of play fast. We really enjoyed the elevated tees on many of the holes and the presence of the varied terrain regarding elevation changes. Water on the course and a cart girl to serve up some nice cold beer; what a perfect day. Will definitely be back for more. Highly recommended.

i've played twice here and the pace of play both rounds was good. greens are slow (the most recent round was very slow due to rain) and some are damaged. fairways and rough in decent shape. short course even from the back tees, which is odd considering the par 3's are all mid to long range.

Last time I played here was about 25 years ago.. Greens were much faster back then and the trees were a bit smaller.. A very nice course..

Tight course featuring lots of elevation and terrain change. Playing from tips will bring a challenge from the par 3 holes. Staying below the cup is a must on most greens. Found course very enjoyable in set up and length. Pin placement was difficult for a Sunday and promoted slow play. Will play again during the week and reevaluate from there. Mature track. Most will enjoy

I have played this course a few times before and it is always a nice one to play! The only problem is that I am a long hitter and the fairways play short. Love the course
