Lake Erie Metropark Golf Course
About
Lake Erie Metropark in Brownstown sits along the shoreline of its namesake lake. The location is a popular bird-watching spot with more than 300 species recorded. Golfers might catch a glimpse of a bald eagle and broad-wing hawk sightings are almost definite since the area is one of the best hawk-watching sites in North America. The golf course sprawls across gently rolling terrain and is routed through natural wetlands and forests. Towering trees line the fairways and water comes into play on a few holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. The golf course is a manageable 6,472 yards from the back tees. Lake Erie Metropark's challenges are mild enough for high handicappers but there are still some interesting holes that will keep the avid golfer entertained.

Needs New Staff
The course was in mediocre shape, a lot of standing water (not their fault).. They tried to bill me full price after I paid in full with Golf Now, so I questioned what was going on, Golf Now had overbooked. They weren’t going to let me out even after I showed them the receipt. I told them I wasn’t paying full price as I had already paid. I told the guy that if there is a problem it’s between their vendor and the course management I have nothing to do with it. Very frustrating, took 30 minutes to get fixed.
Rangers followed us around the course, very stressful, the dude went off on me for parking close to the green, it was 20’ from the green in the rough. Overall the course is nice but the staff jumps on you for trivial nonsense which ruins your day. Fifth time playing here and the staff has been rude every time. Won’t be back.
Snobs
Lake Erie metropark golf course is always in great condition. With lake Erie itself being soo close, any rain pretty much floods the course and don't expect too many not soo windy days. The staff and local golfers always are very snobby and uppity not a problem at any other course but always has been a problem here for the 3 years I've golfed here. The fairways and greens keep you coming back, but the management of tee times and no flexibility on teeing off on the back 9 constantly has you crowded front and back people will play up on you and try to force single players in your group. Beautiful greens and fairways, not too challenging layout but challenging dealing with surrounding golfers and poor customer relations with staff.
Nice course. Try and play on a non-windy day because being by the water the wind is kicked up a notch out there making some long holes feel even longer. Greens were great, fairways were great. Tee boxes were in fair condition. Staff was super friendly and homemade cookies in the club house are a steal! Highly recommend this course
Slow pace of play, slow guy working counter
I’m sitting here at 10:52, still waiting to tee off for my 10:48. The 10:40 showed up at 11am and got moved in front of us. The guy working the counter said “nothing I can do for you” I will never in my life come back to this god forsaken golf course..
GREAT COURSE
ALWAYS ENJOY PLAYING LAKE ERIE!! IT DOES FORCE YOU TO HIT THE STRAIGHT BALL!! :))
beautiful course nice location
Every time I play ere you see wildlife. Great layout challenging but fair. Always in great shape. Pace of play always seems to be good. Never taken any longer than 4 hours to play. Well worth the money.
Solid course
The course is nice, lots of wetlands which come into play. The staff though seems to be irritated with people who use the discount. They are a bit too snooty for me, I'll probably find somewhere else to play next time.
Another Nice Round
Always enjoy playing Lake Erie Metropark. Play it about once a week. Even though it is relatively flat, it is always a challenge from the white tees. Recommend
Fun experience
This is a very playable course, although most greens are difficult to reach in regulation. The fairways are wide, the greens receptive. There has been a fair amount of rain lately and some spots were soggy, but overall, drained pretty well. The only drawback for us was the excessive number of Canada Geese and their droppings everywhere you walked. True, the course is built in what appears to be a conservation area, but golf and poop really don’t mix that well. It appears to have been a healthy breeding season and it seems, without measures, that it will only get worse.
Impressed
When i arrived, I was skeptical. Course was well manicured. Good time.
Nice track
Typically play 1st tee time of the day on weekends. Course was in great shape, rough was a bit longer than usual, but I'm assuming because of all the recent rain. Greens rolled great, Sunday pin placements are a bit ridiculous, nearly all the pins were directly on heavy slope or the apex of the greens. Hoping that was a one time thing, but overall, love the course
Needs a few weeks
Course very wet and greens as shaggy as a 1970's living room carpet.' Clearly they need to lower the mower blades. Great layout but needs a few weeks to dry out. Will return under the promise that greens run faster than a 4 on stimp meter.
Good course, not the best management
Booked an 8:40am tee time. Arrived and checked in at 8:30. Found out there were 7 groups still waiting to tee off due to frost. Temperatures are averaging 40 degrees early in the day but for some reason management decided 7:30am Would be a good time to start booking tee times. First group made it off at 9:30. It wasn't until after 10am before we were able to hit the course, an hour and 30 minutes after our scheduled time. Temperatures haven't been fluctuating, so not much of an excuse for this oversight. Overall good course and friendly staff, but they need to manage their times more responsibly. Won't go back to this course.
