Lake Erie Metropark Golf Course
About
Lake Erie Metropark in Brownstown sits along the shoreline of its namesake lake. The location is a popular bird-watching spot with more than 300 species recorded. Golfers might catch a glimpse of a bald eagle and broad-wing hawk sightings are almost definite since the area is one of the best hawk-watching sites in North America. The golf course sprawls across gently rolling terrain and is routed through natural wetlands and forests. Towering trees line the fairways and water comes into play on a few holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. The golf course is a manageable 6,472 yards from the back tees. Lake Erie Metropark's challenges are mild enough for high handicappers but there are still some interesting holes that will keep the avid golfer entertained.

Like being up NORTH
Wonderful people wonderful golf course pace of play perfect I like the fact that 50 minutes from my house I can find a perfect piece of land
Best Course Downriver!!!!!
The course has to be the best looking course downriver!!! I highly recommend this course to anyone!
Good for the right price
This was my fourth time playing here. I usually only go once a year because it's about a 45 minute drive. This particular time it seemed like they hadn't mowed in a few days. Tee boxes and fairways were a little longer than usual. The course condition is great along with the greens, but I think we went on the day they forgot to mow. Played 18 with a cart at noon for $30. I'd go more often if it wasn't such a far drive.
lake erie metropark
Nice course with some very tricky pin placements on undulating greens. Bring you putting A game
Nice round
Always enjoy playing here. Impressed with condition this early in the season. A little soggy in spots but normal for mid-May; greens were very nice but still putting a little slower than normal.
Course doing a nice job of marking to remind players to observe
90 deg. rule and keeping carts out of the soft spots.
fall a great time to play this course.
Leaves are nowhere to be found on this course. fairways and greens are spotless. also less expensive in the fall. love the layout, no shooting galleries.
course was not bad
first nine holes went quick but the back nine got congested and very slow. greens were lush and quick.
Like it
Course is very well taken care of. We got a great deal for a 10am tee time....was worth every penny.
This course is a gem in the downriver area
The Lake Erie Metropark course is very well maintained and clean. It even has actual bathrooms around the course--not just porta potties. The course is very wooded and is therefore quite challenging. It's probably just because I do dumb things on the golf course, but sometimes the tree line is like a magnet for my shots. There are lots of challenges off the tee and approaching the greens.
I enjoy playing here and is the place to play in the downriver area (IMO) as the GolfNow prices are hard to beat. If you can find it on the site in the $15 to $19 range, you'll have a lot of fun for the money--just bring extra balls.
Nice course, a little wet is some areas.
The course was very nice with a few areas being pretty wet. Otherwise, though, no issues.
Ever present ranger irritating !
Nice course but having a ranger become a spectator as opposed to a ranger is a reason to go elsewhere. Played three times and all three times same problem.
this course is maintained well and is a good test of golf
good vaule when using golfNow , the course is a good test of golf and maintained very well
Love the course.
Course is in really good condition. Challenging, yet enjoyable for the intermediate golfer.
ok
Had a good time. Staff was nice. Had a good time. Nothing fancy though. Greens were nice - real fast. Rest of course was eh, tons of weeds in fairways. Water /ponds not clean. Worth it if you can go dirt cheap otherwise there are nicer courses.
hit it straight or you will be in trouble.
fun course to play,,with a lot of ways to get in trouble. We got paired up with two other golfers , who also did their tee times on golf now. We enjoyed their company
Coarse was in excellent condition and challenging. Excellent setting highly recomended.
The coarse was clean and in excellent condition it was fun to play and would highly recommend it to others.
Better then expected...
Pristine greens.. could be faster, but GREAT condition and roll!!!
One of the best golf course staffs you will find around
This was the most time consuming 18 holes I've ever played in my life. However with that being said, it was not the courses fault. In fact, they did the best job of handling the slow play that I've ever seen. When we teed off there were two groups of three in front of us. All six of these people were friends and together. The course staff gave them explicit instructions that they do not allow six-somes and what have to play as two separate groups. However, once they got to the second hole they joined up. The ranger caught them and force them to separate, but they just did it again towards the end of the front nine. They were causing extremely slow play, so I called the clubhouse and complain. When they made the turn the club house and gave them their final warning to the guys did not take too well to this and started complaining so they were escorted off of the property. Staff was very apologetic for the delay and offered to even let us start around over.
All that aside. The course was in excellent shape. The greens were similar to a private country club or high-end resort courses; challenging but not like putting on the cement floor. The course is very well laid out with lots of different types of holes to challenge different areas of your game. The only minor irritation was that the course was on a cartpath only rule that day which seemed unnecessary. The fairways were not soggy and there were not very many areas of standing water. However, This is probably part of the reason the course is in such great shape. They take extra steps such as that to take care of it. And of course is not very hilly so it wasn't that much of a bother to have to walk from the cart path to my ball. The only recommendation I would have as far as course conditions were to have better drainage in the bunkers. To be fair, there was a huge rainstorm the night before but most of the bunkers have been transformed into many water hazards due to poor drainage. But again, I am just nitpicking, because it was very difficult to find something about the course that I did not like.
This is the first time I've played this course since I was in high school and used to live right down the street, I always remembered it being a very average course, but yesterday my experience would have me ranking in the top five courses in the area. Other than Eaglecrest, I would say it is the most well maintained Course in Southeast Michigan.
If you're in the area I definitely recommend stopping by and checking this course out
