Avalon is a user friendly, great course !
Avalon is a short course, well maintained, friendly environment.. great course to play !!
Enjoyed playing this course
Being a six handicap I played from the tips and found it quite challenging especially when I started spraying it a few holes. The staff was extremely nice, with a well stocked pro shop. I would definetly play this course again.
Loved the course,
Great course, well maintained, it was still early in the year and the grass needs to grow in in some places. the threesom I was playing with were playing from the blue's so I joined them. Being a 15 handicap shoud have played the white's. But still had a lot of fun with the guy's they set me up with, the staff could not have been nicer. Being from Long Island, N.Y. my wife and I make many trips to South Jersey (AC) and I'v played many courses in the area, Avlon is going to be one of the top five for now on, Thanks for the great day.
Fun day of golf
The course played very well. The greens were in great shape and your putts had to be dead on. Course played well with no stopping. A fun day of golf was had. Price was excellent and will play many more times as the season gets into full "Swing"!
Avalon is a good value, usually crowded but play is not slow.
Greens had been dressed for spring so they were of course bumpy, but generally they are acceptable. Course is a good layout with challenging par threes. Avalon seems to play at a good pace, many regulars play there.
Just an OK course.
I only play here when I get a great deal from GolfNow; otherwise I cannot see myself paying full price to play here. The course is not very scenic and diffinitely needs some attention. I just played on 03/30/2013 and I told my friend that I may not play there again because of the condition and the lack of challenge.
good 18 holes for any golfer
clean. spaced out enough that not too many slices go on other fairways.
Good value
The price was right for a late winter round. Pace was really slow, more related to the three I was paired with. Will play again.
Great Value!
The course is in great shape, the greens are in very good condition, the fairways and ruff are well maintained!
Very good value, just a fun place to play.
The round was slow, but that was to be expected given 50+ degrees in January. The course gets a good bit of play, since it is nestled between some high priced courses. Here is the thing that gets me, and I have played this course in the winter before, the greens are wonderful. How do they maintain their speed, pace and overall feel through the cold winter months? I can only imagine them in the spring and summer. I like the place alot, heck, I travel over 50 miles to play it, and the bar and restaurant are just the icing on the cake!
course in very good shape
course in very good shape for winter conditions. Greens a little slow but, roll very true. Course free of leaves on fairways. Overall a very enjoyable experience!
NEED WORK!
tee, fairways need dirt in divot, green need to be clear of debrie and goose droppings and ballmarks need to be repaired. other then that the course was in good shape.
Simple and easy course
I've played Avalon a handful of times in the past year and I must say it is a decent course. The staff isnt too friendly and the club house members are on the rude side, but if you just ignore them you'll have a great time.
The greens are well kept and the fairways are par at best. Make sure to play a few days after a rainstorm. There are very few fairway bunkers and every whole almost dead straight besides a few dog legs.
The course is fun and I will continue playing here.
The course was fun and the starter was very cooperative.
We played as a threesome. The course was in good shape and was very playable. The starter was very cooperative and we finished our round in 3 and a half hours.
SLOW, SLOW PLAY!
I had not played Avalon is several years, and now I remember why. 3 HOURS TO PLAY 9 HOLES! 11 OF US WAITING ON THE 10TH TEE.
I should have known when I pulled up and read the sign that bragged about having a record number of rounds. Avalon's approach is to maximize their revenue and minimize the golfer's enjoyment. There were no marshals on the course.
I will never play their again, and advise others to do the same.
Nice course, challenging greens
My wife and I stayed in Cape May and played Avalon on a good deal through GolfNow. Hooked up with a couple of friendly guys who also booked through GolfNow. Course is flat with drivable fairways and not a lot of trouble. Good advantage on longer holes for women and seniors. Being at sea level and with ocean breezes it can play longer than it seems. Greens were large and very undulating making for a number of three putts for me and, I wager, others, depending on pin placement. Some water and bunkers but not problematic for low or mid handicaps. Not much development around course so that most holes seem serene and natural. Overall a very good golf experience on a course that seems easy but the score on the card says it's moderately difficult.
Great course
We are beginners and this course was a great challenge. It was a beautiful setting and the club house was gorgeous.
