New course management co. Making huge improvements
Greens, bunkers are in great condition, fairways are just decent
Local golfer
Course was in good shape. Greens were excellent. Pace of play was 3.5 hours, very good probably because it was extremely hot and humid.
Going back
Tried the course the other day and not bad. Still could use more water. Greens are hard but still slow, hmmm.
Need to have players fixed ball marks on the green or these greens will be a mess in a year. Need sand on carts to fix divots, forget the coolers.
Going back today, used to the hot weather from living in Ga. For 15yrs. Stay hydrated.
More water
You could charge $20 more if you would water the course.
Always seems dry.
Still better than the west course.
Hopefully you are watering the course well before you reopen it.
Decent County Course
I have enjoyed Tamarack for over 20 years. It is a good track to play with enough difficulty to test your skills. There is nothing you can do with a group or 2 in front of you who plays slow. The course needs rangers out there pressing the pace as it should not take longer than 4 hours and 15 minute to play. Honestly, the round should always be under 4 hours to play.
Not bad for the value
I saw a lot of bad ratings recently on this course so went and played it. I have played the course a couple times since the renovations and dozens of times over the years.
To be fair, this course had a long history of issues in the past going back several years (no greens just dirt, staff stealing money) but since they renovated the east course this is a great value spot. I played it and had a great time.
Greens are uniform throughout and are still growing in. As long as they maintain them properly they will continue to be great. I hear the complaints about the fairways being spotty in places but for the most part that isn’t different from any county course. If people replaced divots properly it wouldn’t be a problem.
The West course is getting redone now with the fairways and greens are in scope for upgrades. I can’t wait since I prefer the west course!
Once done and both courses are open for play, I think this will be a part of my regular rota of county tracks.
Water
There was zero drinking water on the course, you had to buy any drink from a staff member, very very annoyed about this
Decent if caught on an off day
Went out as a twosome around 2:30 on a Saturday. $55 each for nine holes. I shot a 43 however this place is not worth your time money and energy. No starters to be found, tee box back ups of up to three groups waiting hole after hole. Tons of blind shots and skinny fairways. Greens are pure I’ll say that much. If this was a $30 course for 9 or $60 for 18 all in, my review maybe different however 1,000% not worth the money or the time. We played 9 holes in 3 1/2 hours due to the tee box being backed up. I’ve played this place once a year for the last three years hoping it gets better, I can say I will not be returning this year
