Golfer Reviews
Not bad for the value
I saw a lot of bad ratings recently on this course so went and played it. I have played the course a couple times since the renovations and dozens of times over the years.
To be fair, this course had a long history of issues in the past going back several years (no greens just dirt, staff stealing money) but since they renovated the east course this is a great value spot. I played it and had a great time.
Greens are uniform throughout and are still growing in. As long as they maintain them properly they will continue to be great. I hear the complaints about the fairways being spotty in places but for the most part that isn’t different from any county course. If people replaced divots properly it wouldn’t be a problem.
The West course is getting redone now with the fairways and greens are in scope for upgrades. I can’t wait since I prefer the west course!
Once done and both courses are open for play, I think this will be a part of my regular rota of county tracks.
Decent if caught on an off day
Went out as a twosome around 2:30 on a Saturday. $55 each for nine holes. I shot a 43 however this place is not worth your time money and energy. No starters to be found, tee box back ups of up to three groups waiting hole after hole. Tons of blind shots and skinny fairways. Greens are pure I’ll say that much. If this was a $30 course for 9 or $60 for 18 all in, my review maybe different however 1,000% not worth the money or the time. We played 9 holes in 3 1/2 hours due to the tee box being backed up. I’ve played this place once a year for the last three years hoping it gets better, I can say I will not be returning this year
an absolute mess
Played 9 here on a saturday, starter was nowhere to be found so everyone went as they please. no course etiquette, awareness of the pace of play, long holdups at the tees. 2/3 group waiting at a time. will not be returning.
East Brunswick native- never play this course
So sad how poorly maintained this course is. They had a multimillion dollar renovation a year ago(ish) and the course was so beautiful. It is a shame that they didn’t maintain it because it would’ve been worth the $80 they now charge to play. Now the course is pretty gross and unkept, just gets worse and worse every time I play. I live in East Brunswick and can’t go back to this course anymore, so I wouldn’t recommend that anyone drives to this course. Better off finding another nearby course that charges the same or less and has much better course conditions, like I have.
Major improvements needed
Check in: Lady/girl at register was on her phone, didn’t say much other than “you paid online” - thought there’d be more to the interaction.
Range: is what it is. Just hit some balls.
Golf cart: herky jerky but did the trick.
Course: terrible fairways; roughs are 50/50 between some grass and mud/contrete like dirt. Greens were there, I’ll say that. Just an overall not pleasant course with plenty of issues. $61 on a Saturday after 3pm seems way too overpriced for all the factors this course offers
Decent course, horrible pace of play
Course was in good condition.
Front 9 took almost 3 hours.
Course doesn't have rangers to enforce pace of play
Mike
They have put some effort into making the course nice again; however, the fairways are still bumpy and not very well maintained. $66.00 for Walking and an additional $20.00 for the cart. For a price that high, we should expect a bit better conditions and maintance of the course.
Not worth the money
The greens were in terrible shape. Basically there was no grass on the greens. It was essentially incredibly hard dirt. The fairways werent in the best shape either a lot of dry spots. The tee boxes were in good condition. For the money i paid it was no where near what i would have expected. I dont plan on coming back any time soon
Awful condition
The course was in absolute state of disrepair. It was in such bad condition and they charged $89 for a round. That is insanely expensive for what we got.
Good county course, value for money.
East course was dry and greens were firm. Bunkers are in great condition since the renovation. Staff is friendly.
So glad to hear the fairways are still garbage . Maybe Middlesex county will be smart enough to get rid of Troon. They are the problem. Not the ones maintaining the course, hands are tied, but they will blame individuals for their failures. Disgrace
