Harkers Hollow Golf Club
About
Nestled in the hills of Scotts Mountain, Harkers Hollow Golf Club was carved from a sloping hillside, giving it a challenging terrain with plenty of elevation changes. Opened in 1929, the golf course has a classic layout designed by Robert White, the first president of the PGA of America. Although it is a seemingly mild 6,551 yards from the back tees, the course plays much longer and harder thanks to the undulating terrain. The layout does offer a few lengthy holes as well as some interesting par 3s. The greens are small and fast with breaks ranging from subtle to dramatic. There is hardly any water but the Lopatcong Creek does run the entire length of the golf course and requires the occasional carry. The par-3 fifth hole is the club's signature. It is particularly notable for its scenery, which is why it has served as the backdrop for many weddings.

course condition much improved from last year. best value in the lehigh valley after 3 pm
Much Improved
Course is in much better condition.. it’s getting there. Staff was great, and you can tell that they care about revitalizing the course/club. Will definitely be going back soon!
New owners efforts are paying off
Have golfed at this course 3 times so far this year and the experience is getting better each time. Owners and staff are doing a great job with turning this course around. Not an easy task, their efforts are paying off. My wife and I enjoy playing this course, followed with excellent food and drinks.
Progress
There's still a ways to go but the new ownership is showing a commitment to restoring this course back to the way it should be. They've cleaned up all the debris, replaced the sand in the bunkers and are keeping up with the mowing. The greens are currently hairy and slow but they're filling in. Hopefully the plan will be to cut them shorter when they've matured.
It's great to see a quality layout being brought back.
I love this cource
This course lost a lot in the last 2 years. but the new owners are getting the course back to the it should be
A work in progress
Wow, they have done a lot of work since taking over last November. The layout is good. It has the potential of being a great place to play golf. We'll go back to monitor the progress.
WIP
The course is improving. The new owners appear to want to develop quality product. Sand been added to a number of the bunkers. There is a lot of work going on which is a good sign. It will be interesting to see what this work in progress becomes.
Getting better
I went to play course for first time since it's under ownership. I wanted see what they have done in their short time taking over. The greens were playable contrary an earlier post I reviewed. A majority the tee boxes were still weeds which will addressed as go forward. Fairways in decent shape. Overall pretty good experience. They seem to have come quite a ways since i last played here during the time that Apple Mountain ownership managed this facility. Worth the play. Looking forward see how they continue improve.
It’s a shame what has become of a once beautiful country club
Booked a tee time on Golf Now for $25. At best this course is a place to practice hitting shots without the thought of keeping score. The tee boxes are covered in dandelions and weeds as are the fairways. The rough is insanely horrible. Make sure to play junk golf balls because you will lose several. The greens were recently aerated, and almost all had major burn out spots. Keep in mind the greens have not been aerated on this golf course in over five years. There has been a serious lack of maintenance due to the turmoil of the sale of this facility.
The one female staff member at the front desk, was very accommodating and was forthright and discussion about the conditions of the course. She did not hide anything or state any miss truths.
The course will hopefully come back and be what it was once one , when it was a private club. But they do have a long way and a long road ahead of them yet. There are basic things that every golf course should have ,and this course is lacking many of that. There was not a single cube of ice to be found anywhere on the golf course. I’m sorry, but that is just deplorable!
We spoke to the girl at the halfway house and all she basically had was two choices of beer and crackers and snacks. And there she had no ice either. I doubt she made any money at all considering her inventory and lack of persons, playing the golf course. This course should be limiting its play until they get their act together and turn it back into a golf course. You can see there is some definite character to this golf course and some challenging holes. Hopefully by this time next year that will reclaim it’s glory
Harkers
Course closed last year and just reopened. Rough had been cut, but still a little high. Greens have addressed and are getting better. Some traps have fresh sand and hopefully everything can continue to improve.
Poetntial
Lots of work still needs to be done, but you can see the potential is there.
Gone Downhill Never to Return
The 'rough' was more like a cow pasture, the fairways were rough at best, the greens slow and scarred, and zero amenities of any kind. Even ball washers were non-operational and hole makers virtually invisible. This course should not even be an option on GolfNow.
No Maintance
rough hasn't been mowed for some time if the ball bounces out of the fairway it is in 10 inches of grass, lost many. hydraulic oil striped on greens, what a mess. don't go there!
Used to be a nice course
The rough was so bad you could lose your ball in the 1st cut off the fairway. If you're going to play there, use GolfNow as it is not worth the $49 they want to charge you.
Waiting for some TLC
The course is in the process of being sold so the grass was a little bit long but the course layout and staff were very friendly. The course could be the very nice once it's sold and the new owners do the upkeep on the course better. The clubhouse and pool , all the amenities looked very nice I'm sure the course is a gem waiting for the right owner.
Awful!
*This course was recently sold.* I preface this because it seems the owners didn't spend a dime on this course all year knowing that.
The carts are antique's, the pro shop is bare, no water or towels for the ball washers, tee boxes are rough, tee yardage markers on ground are over grown, sand traps have no sand and are weed traps, fairway are non existent, rough's are overgrown, greens are diseased and have hydraulic fluid on 1/2 of them.
This is one of those course's that they should pay you to play.
Well hit balls are lost in the overgrown fairways and roughs, greens are bumpy and super slow, carpaths are unmaintained and poorly marked, they're no yard markers for 100-150-200 yards that are visible.
Overall I recommend staying away from this course until it has been properly maintained by the new owners.
Horribly maintained
This course was awful. There were basically no fairways and the grass all around was incredibly high. We'll hit balls were lost and sand traps were foot-tall grass traps.
Harkers Hollow Disaster
This course hasn't been maintained in months. Bare spots on the greens, the fairways and rough were too long. When the grass was cut, the clippings were not picked up. More than $5 for greens fee is high.
