About
Sunset Valley Golf Course is consistently ranked as one of the best public courses in New Jersey. It is one of four golf courses in the Morris County Parks system and it's considered the toughest. Located in Pompton Plains, the course is nestled in a wooded valley. It has a dramatic topography that provides plenty of ups and downs throughout the golf course. Golfers can expect a variety of elevation changes as well as a few blind shots and forced carries. Strategically placed bunkers come into play along the fast, undulating greens and mature trees line the rolling fairways. Water hazards come into play on a few holes too. Sunset Valley Golf Course's final three holes present one of the area's toughest finishes. The trio begins with the uphill par-5 16th and then finishes with two long par 4s.

Best in the area
Sunset is the best course in the area. It’s a bit pricey, but I’d probably get the county card next year, which would make things a bit cheaper. This is not a hack and slasher. Some unique holes and razor sharp greens. Overall, a great golf experience.
Great Challenging County Course
No walk in the park. Fun course that rewards shot makers. Greens played fast but true.
Unfriendly staff
This is my second time playing this course and both times the starters have been extremely rude. I have been treated poorly each time for no reason.
A Day in Sunset Valley
3 of us really enjoyed Sunset Valley. The course layout was pretty challenging. The green complexes were in excellent shape and generous in size. Excellent value for your money. I would definitely play it again!!
Beautifully Maintained
Course was in great shape. Greens were very challenging and well cared for, I shall return to try and conquer the greens!
