Friendly Course with adequate maintenance
I played Preakness Valley (West) in April 2022. The course was fairly well maintained for a public course but had it's fair share of beat up tee boxes and bumpy greens.
Fairways were in solid shape and not too wet like I've seen in the past. The biggest negative of the round was how crowded it was. Tee times were spaced 5-10 minutes apart creating some traffic around holes 8-14. Given the wide range of golfing talent that plays here that's fairly expected so keep your expectations in check.
All in all it's an excellent course for the money and I'll gladly play again.
Good early April round
Pace started slow but picked up on the back 9. Greens were aerated today but otherwise conditions were fine. Not too wet, but cart path only today. Hopefully no cart restrictions soon. Always happy to play here.
Professional staff with a great vibe, definitely recommend this course
Surprised
9 holes were closed, yet no notification prior to tee off, was told to play open holes twice.. incredibly, no discount on the rate. $60 a little rich to walk 9. When I politely asked for fee reduction, was rebuked rather curtly, and told closed holes were posted online. Not true.. Don’t play here prior to April 1, as course not open fully.
Full 18 not open
It should be noted on GolfNow that the full 18 is not open and that we would be replaying holes.
Preakness adjusted
we were able to play on a very windy course. some of the early greens were still heavily sanded from aeration but most were in great shape.
Due to recent rain a section of the course was removed from play but we did get to play 10 holes twice (bonus golf!)
This course is always run very well as the Pro, Marty Vrybal is a great leader and makes sure everything is done properly
