Enjoyable round of golf
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The course was in good condition but the greens (east course) were a little slow. The pace of play was very good and we saw the Marshall pass by several times. The course is walkable and is set up nicely to accommodate walking. Our group had a great time and we look forward to coming back to try the west course.
nice
great public course and well maintained. I feel the greens on the east links course are a tad faster and are not beat down with as many ball marks/spike marks as the higher volume west course. starters here are good but if you arrive for your tee time early don't expect to be able to go out early even if everyone in your group is ready. bunkers are well maintained from what I remember though . no real surprises on the east course. if you end up in the fairway bunkers you are playing bogey golf at best so use your long and mid irons off the tee. it can get a little windy out there in the open and have crushed a few balls off the tee and they got caught up in the wind and only went 150 yards. generally the prices are are average.
Mercer Oaks East
The course was in good condition. The staff was extremely unprofessional. Constantly being hassled by Marshall for pace of play. They expect foursomes to keep up with twosomes. Will never go back. They took all the enjoyment out of the round.
Loved it
I played the East course, which I understand is the links style course, as compared to the target golf styled West course. I really enjoyed it and thought the course was interesting (fairways were slightly rough in a couple of spots, but barely worth mentioning).
Pace of play was just ok. We were a foursome, and got through in 4 hours and 20 minutes, but somehow seemed to be waiting on every shot. It wasn't bad, but there didn't seem to be anyone monitoring it either.
I really enjoyed the course and will definitely be back!
Rangefinders Do Not Work At Mercer East
Leave your rangefinder at home because although the West course has prisms on the flags, the East course does not! The East course is also poorly marked as far as yardage markers go. Sure, there is a 150 yard marker pole on every hole other than par 3's, but this is by today's standards inadequate and really slows down play. No reason not to have flags that work with rangefinders.
Greens look like they have never been rolled at all this year. They played extremely bumpy. Greenside bunkers were absolutely terrible. I almost broke my wrist and my sandwedge because there was no sand in the bunkers.
This course has a long way to go to be even rated as average.
great golf at a great value
I used to live near by Mercer Oaks and played both courses frequently.. I played the East course yesterday after not playing here for close to 10 years. The facility is better than ever! You wont find a better municipal facility anywhere.. The East course is true links golf and be prepared for wind, fescue and plenty of sand. The greens on the front side were slower and spongier than the back 9.. The fairway bunkers all huge and very well placed and you have to drive the ball extremely accurately to stay away from them.. The course was crowded and there were rangers out keeping everything moving. We played in 4 hours and 15 min and that was good too.. The par 5's on the East Course are outstanding and challenging.. The par 3's are also top notch.. The only thing holding back the East Course from a 5 star rating is course conditioning.. There are a few little spots that need some grooming but as a muni course, you'll find no better.. There is a nice bar and grill too if you want a good beer and burger afterwards.. Don't miss playing here if you've never been..
not your typical county course
Mercer oaks east is a quality links course with a great design and challenging greens. I will definitely go back again and again
come prepared to deal with water hazards and also bunkers
Mercer Oaks West will almost play like a private club
Mercer west
This course is beautiful. Well maintained and manicured. The course provides a great challenge with the layout, beautiful views and excellent play. However my only gripe is that. I booked my tee time for two and they made us partner up with two others and then the ranger was rude and always saying I need you guys to hurry up. You behind usga time right now. He approached us at least 5 times in a 18 holes. It was annoying. I paid $100 to golf so I am going to enjoy my round. Your overweight ranger teamed us up which slowed us down have some curtisey.
Nice course; excellent value
The county does a nice job maintaing this course. It obviously gets a lot of use, and the pace was just ok as expected. It is a fantastic value. Very playable not unduly challenging. I would definitely recommend it.
Mercer Oaks East Golf Course
My only complaint was the greens were inconsistent and very slow on some holes.
Wonderful track in central NJ
Mercer Oaks has two 18 hole courses.
We played the east course which is a links course with wide fairways, lots of bunkering and true greens.
There are a few water holes but not an issue.
The course was in great condition for a muni.
We plan to return to play the west course next
great greens
the course was in good shape greens fast but fair I played from the white tees i don't hit that long but you get good roll in the fair ways would join if i lived closer
very nice course especially for a county course
Course was in excellent shape, shot placement is very important, if you are not on the fairway, you are in some deep rough. People were friendly, even after they knew we were golf now players. If you are out of county, Golf Now is the only way to play at a decent rate. Will definitely play again, best course under $45 in the area.
Nice and open!
Spacious fairways and well kept greens made this a very fun time! The foursome in front and back of us, along with us, kept it moving at a comfortable pace where we didn't feel any pressure. Looking forward to going back!

Course in great shape
Manicured perfectly. Great value and quick pace of play. Finished in 3.5 hours.
COURSE ALWAYS IS A CHALLENGE
I've PLAYED HERE OFTEN....LOVE THE LAYOUT....PLAYED FOR MANY YEARS....JUST WID=SH THEY'D LEVEL THE TEE-BOXES
East vs West at mercer oaks
I played the east course this time around as I usually play the west. The east course is wide open so you unload on your drives and not get hurt at all - where the west course will demand accurate drives. I was driving the ball well and usually found myself inside the 150 marker with a short iron into the green. This is similar to the west side. The greens were receptive but lumpy because they have 2 different types of grass in them. All said and done I prefer the west course but I will play this again shortly. Dave Rizzo. Bensalem pa.
