Ok if u live in the area, not worth the ride if u dont
It's ok nothing exciting about it, had some nice holes on west course, but really wasn't worth the trip, if u live within a half hour ride I guess it's good value for the money, but I wouldn't go out of my way to play here again, pace was very slow a lot of old-timers...,walking the course.
Nice layout with challenging greens
Great course and I was paired with a local resident who was so kind giving advice to avoid blid hazards.
windy and cool
The course was in good condition and great shape for the winter season. The wind was about 40 mph but still had a great time.
Where's the fescue?
For the price I paid through golfnow, I wouldn't mind paying regular rates that's how much I enjoyed this course.
First off, Mercer Oaks is split into two sections. East course with its links style layout with only hole that had trees surrounding the short par 4. Other than that, it's challenging with its risk and reward situations and it's undulating fairways littered with bunkers. The West course I read was the traditional layout with lots of memorable holes. Today I played the East course.
From my experience playing a local links course near me. One thing distinct is their tall fescue. Somebody must've went weed wackier crazy because not one hole has any. It's either their way to prepare for the winter, but I would've liked to see what this course was all about. Other than that, this made it much easier to find my ball so no complaints their.
Due to rain from the night before, the course was is very wet condition that made it difficult to get your footing on the ground for a shot. So slipping was common. Greens were in excellent shape with little or no pitch marks. Also, the ball rolled true on their greens with the rain. Tee boxes were also even and for a minute I thought I was playing in a country club.
I would definitely play this course again, but this time will play the West course. Also, I think I found my go to course if the price is right.
beautiful scenic course
Excellent very scenic golf course which I like personally. Not too difficult but very enjoyable. Only played nine holes cause of a back issue. Drove the cart around the back nine to have a look and I really liked what I saw
Beautiful
Beautiful course. Can't wait to play it again. Perfectly green and smooth, and they do a great job of clearing the leaves in the fall.
great eye appeal
beautiful links course.. a real gem, well maintained.
Great Course
The course is in excellent condition. Great price on Golfnow without a county membership.
Fun course but very rude staff
Course was in great shape. Well maintained course with interesting holes. Only drawback was the ranger who kept asking us to pick up the pace even though the group behind was trailing us by an entire round. Was unable to hold by frustrations, and so on Hole #11, I yelled at him to leave us alone coz he was ruining our experience on a nice course. Did not see after that.
Great hidden gem
Using this app makes me play here more often which I love the traditional west course is a great challenge for any golfer of any skill level
Nice course for the money.
I enjoyed playing here. It's a wide open links style course.
A must play!
Do not miss this course. An extremely well maintained links course that is sure to please. Go East young man!!!
great course
course in excellent shape greens r tough would play again
Excellent county course
It is a beautiful county course. The course is better than a lot of country clubs. Course sets up very well with a lot of bunkers in the play.
Best area public golf
The West course was more traditional than the East. It felt more like a private course than public. Nice layout with challenges all around. Good course for the intermediate to advanced golfer. Will definitely be back.
Enjoyable round of golf
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The course was in good condition but the greens (east course) were a little slow. The pace of play was very good and we saw the Marshall pass by several times. The course is walkable and is set up nicely to accommodate walking. Our group had a great time and we look forward to coming back to try the west course.
nice
great public course and well maintained. I feel the greens on the east links course are a tad faster and are not beat down with as many ball marks/spike marks as the higher volume west course. starters here are good but if you arrive for your tee time early don't expect to be able to go out early even if everyone in your group is ready. bunkers are well maintained from what I remember though . no real surprises on the east course. if you end up in the fairway bunkers you are playing bogey golf at best so use your long and mid irons off the tee. it can get a little windy out there in the open and have crushed a few balls off the tee and they got caught up in the wind and only went 150 yards. generally the prices are are average.
Mercer Oaks East
The course was in good condition. The staff was extremely unprofessional. Constantly being hassled by Marshall for pace of play. They expect foursomes to keep up with twosomes. Will never go back. They took all the enjoyment out of the round.
Loved it
I played the East course, which I understand is the links style course, as compared to the target golf styled West course. I really enjoyed it and thought the course was interesting (fairways were slightly rough in a couple of spots, but barely worth mentioning).
Pace of play was just ok. We were a foursome, and got through in 4 hours and 20 minutes, but somehow seemed to be waiting on every shot. It wasn't bad, but there didn't seem to be anyone monitoring it either.
I really enjoyed the course and will definitely be back!
you are suppose to keep pace with the group in front of you it doesn't matter what is going on behind you (which was probably a clogged up course between you and the group behind you)that is why people are complaining about slow rounds on here.
every golf course ranger asking you to pick up the pace because your group couldn't catch up the group ahead of your group.
it has nothing to do with the group behind yours because if your group able to play normal speed then the ranger can ask the group behind you to pick up the pace and this will allow more people to tee off and golf course makes more money which can be used to maintain the golf course
