Course condition great!!
Greens fast smooth in great shape fair ways tee boxes the same ni e track nice people.
The greens at Westwood
A good course, well maintained, with a number of 90° doglegs, all in the front nine, except for the 15th, which the locals play well, knowing how far to hit their teeshot. But the story here are the greens. If you want to score well here, you have to place your shots to the green in the right place, mostly because of the severe slopes on most holes. Don't be surprised to see your ball roll away farther than you planned here. Some good fun holes.
Monday off season at Westwood
Mid morning start behind 4 “golfers” playing from the tips. Phew, what a waste of time. The course was in good shape and we got a great look at it, waiting for the zig-zag group in front to finish off their 4-5 minute putts on the green. Somebody said something because they picked up the pace for 3 or so holes and then, back to normal slow pace.
I’m not punishing the course but more like guys that should NEVER PLAY THE TIPS IF YOU CANT HIT A FAIRWAY.
Hopefully our next round will have better results.
Fast Yet Slow
Greens were very fast and undulating, but the pace of play was turtle speed. Seems like they only send out foursomes if possible so if any group is slow, everyone is slow. I was concerned that the night before it had rained and in my neighborhood many leaves had fallen, but Westwood had all the leaves cleared by my noon tee time. The rest of the course was in very nice condition as well. A little on the short side in overall yardage but I liked the progression from flatter easier holes on the front nine to hilly and more difficult holes on the back 9. I’d definitely come back if the price is right.
Course is in nice shape
Course is nice layout greens are very good condition greens are very tough throughout the course fairways on in good condition also
Firm and fast
We’re in a terrible drought, so it’s not surprising that the course was playing firm and fast, but the greens were lightning. Westwood is not a hard course and its undulating greens have always been its primary defense, but when you take those undulating greens and make them as fast as they were it borders on unfair - at least on several holes. I felt like I was playing the U.S. Open out there.
To be fair, I’ve played this course hundreds of times (not recently) and the greens have never been so fast. I might just be the drought.
Burr68
The course was in good shape considering dry conditions.greens are difficult if you land in the wrong spots.
Too harsh of pace by ranger
We finished 18 holes in 4 hours and 20 minutes
Which is probably average for foursome players rounding but at 7th hole ranger’s following us told us we’re slow so speed up but at that time we did not see any players behind us then 11th hole
He came to us and said pick up the ball and move
Because we are too slow playing. That makes me thinking that it’s not fair to control the pace of play
If we’re playing slow so next group waiting on us
to hole out
Then you can say that we should pick up the
balls and move
That is the way treat the players on golf course
by the ranger isn’t it?
I played many different golf courses on east coast
This is first time ever forced to pick up the ball
and move in my life
That’s shame on the golf club and their management
Always Enjoyable..Now with Great Bar
This track is always fun and in good shape!
Recent upgrades to the 19th hole bar has made it that much more enjoyable!!
We shall return!!
Harder than rating / slope
I have not played here in a few years. Greens were in great condition and much faster than in the past. With the tight fairways on multiple holes, I think it plays tougher than its rating.
