You can't believe that it can be more beautiful but it is with the full foliage! Photo submitted by ReneNorton on 06/22/2015
Lesson learned-Buyer Beware!
It was a beautiful weekend and an opportunity to give Shadowbrooke a second try was at hand. A reasonable price lured me northwest to this overbooked course one more time hoping for a different experience.
Upon my arrival I noticed another line at the first tee box, not a good sight...I hesitantly loaded my clubs hoping that I could at least try to enjoy the afternoon. But unfortnately I experienced slow play due to overbooking which prevented me from getting into a good rhythm. This has set my mind to marking this as another bad experience at this course. I understand if you overbook once, but twice in a row and a month apart in that mid afternoon.. Just plain stupidity! PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING!!
The owner of this sub par establishment should consider taking care of his course better than they take care of their patrons and maybe some will stick around. It looks like this course is in great need of some work and workers...I would consider helping if needed, but not sure if the owner cares?
TOO BAD, it actually a pretty cool little track...oh well
Green is too slow.
Course layout is ok.
Sunday afternoon slow play is acceptable, but green is too slow. I can't tell the difference between putting green and fairway. If you don't care about green or horrible putter, this course is good. Or it's so cheap do not complain.
Could have played Glencoe or Montgomery for better experience
This was my first time to the course and I was excited to play it. We arrived 30 minutes early for our 7:50 AM tee time to hit a bucket of balls and there were already 5-6 carts waiting on the first tee box. The person who check us in stated they "must have over booked" a complete understatement!
The practice green could barley support 3 people and it didn't look like it hadn't been mowed in a while. The tee boxes, fairways and greens looked like they could use a quick cut. It was a long day I believe it took about 5 hours to finish our round.
I will check it out again if its priced less than $15 to see if they change anything?
Great course
Tom and the staff have really brought the course to great conditions since early spring.
If you played during our early season, now is the time to return. Cart paths are redone!
From tee boxes to greens the course is in great shape. Once the details fill in from the paths and drainage repairs, it will be great. The course will give you a challenge with some blind shots, greens have some movement to them and were a bit soft after the rain. But as with any course, keep it in the short hairs and you can score! Thanks Tom!
Beautiful course!
Good layout! AND...a great value for the quality of the course.
Great Golf Course
Beautiful course, well maintained. Helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommend!
Great layout, very nice condition
Joel Goldstrand designed course. Five Par 5's and six Par 3's call for a scoring course with lots of chances at Biride! Very nice layout and I would recommend this course to every player!

Nice improvements in the last month
Love it out there. Easy walking with many nice character holes. Great track for the dollar.
Much Improved - In Great Shape on July 4th
I played here on July 4th and was very impressed with all the course condition improvements they are doing.
Will go back - fun layout and staff seems to also be improved.
We had a blast playing today! The clubhouse workers were friendly and helpful. The grounds crew made a point to stop working when hitting on the hole that they were working on. Greens have improved and were mowed much shorter so your putt got a true roll. Fairways were well groomed. The course has improved their sand traps from last year. There is new sand on all of the holes and they are well kept. The sides are trimmed and no weeds. I would strongly recommend the course especially for the price.
Great Design and Value!
This course is so fun to play! It keeps your round interesting by hanging variations of hole shapes. It isn't a typical "back and forth" layout like a city course. Both nines cover the front of the course and the back. Many holes are wide open, so misses aren't a huge problem, while other holes require a demanding shot, so it's a good mix of bombing it and technical shots. I can tell the course had a wet fall/winter/spring but it seems like they are doing everything they can to make it in the best condition possible. Definitely improved from the beginning of the year until now!
A Very Nice Course
Super-nice greens. Great fairways. Astounding price! If you are on the west side of the Metro, it's unbeatable.
course is great
course is beautiful, nestled in the country side off highway 7, beautiful trees, course is in escellent condition. believe me, it's worth the short drive on a beautiful day to play shadowbrooke golf course, in lester prairie, mn., just off highway 7.
Fun country course
Shadowbrooke is a fun track with plenty of challenge and a nice variety of golf holes. The course is in farm country and quiet compared to other courses closer to the cities which might be the best part of the whole place. Course is built on low lying land so avoid after a heavy downpour. Greens were slow but in decent shape.
Fun course
Had a great time and will return again with more friend's.
They're Always Open
The course is a dump, and they know it, but if you're OK with that they'll let you play all the way into December. They are also always the first course to open in the spring. It's not convenient, well maintained, or challenging, but when you need to get your outdoor-golf fix in, you can count on them to be open.
Open in Feb. Not a good idea
Golfed on Sunday the 19th the course should not have been open. They allowed carts on course and it was a bad idea. Total mud bath. I hope the course was not ruined. Took 4 house to play 9 holes. Let after that did not finish the other 9
First course open this year.
This normally a good place for golf, but this early in year you have lots of snow and ice. Greens and fairways rock hard. It was still fun to play in February.
