You can't believe that it can be more beautiful but it is with the full foliage! Photo submitted by ReneNorton on 06/22/2015
A fine course for the price
Hard to complain about $25 round that includes cart....It was a quick enjoyable round with my dad.
It is a bit of a drive to get there...the course is in average shape...the clubhouse is an old farmhouse that is converted, a good idea but needs updating.
There are a couple interesting holes...but for the most part, the holes are pretty straight forward.
I would say it is worth the drive for a quick, cheap round from the west metro....but don't expect pristine conditions or luxury experience.

Great outing
My Son and I enjoyed this course. Went early over all with the rain MN has had this is was in great shape.
Thank you
Challenging, but fun. Very enjoyable!
Pace of play was very good. We were a twosome following a twosome and finished right at 4 hours. Even with all the water this course has received, it played fairly dry..
If you are tired of the metro and slow rounds, try Shadowbrooke. Only 30 minutes west of Excelsior on Hiway 7.
Hidden Gem
The course has some rough spots & the greens were a bit bumpy (could be from all the rain lately). Overall, a very nice & picturesque farmland course.
the course is in very bad condition.
First of all golfnow shouldn't put courses if they are in bad shape. I played at this course before and its an OK course for the price. We played Saturday and the course was not playable in our opinion. Fairway are muddy and full of water there are couple holes that there is no fairway to play or cannot play at all unless you hit your ball over the green then you can play. You gotta find your own way to every hole because pathway are flooded, rough and fairway muddy. And to make things worst play is slow. We stop playing after 9 holes and that took us 3 hours to play. We decided not to continue playing. Courses that are in that condition shouldn't be open. They should make sure at least playable. And golfnow should be aware of it.
Solid Course with good value, but wet
This is the 2nd time I've played this course and I enjoy this track and its challenges and yardage. The fairways and rough are in great shape and finding your ball is fairly easy from hole to hole. Overall its a mature course with nice trees, namely lots of willow trees that are tough to play though. Overall this is worth the drive if its not near your neighborhood if your looking for good value. The tee boxes, fairway, and rough are in nice shape. The greens are a little slower than average, but in good shape. Both last year and today the course was very wet when I played, not sure if its a coincidence or if there is a drainage issue.
Great value and beautiful course
Love this course, great variety of challenges with woods, sand, ponds. Good pace of play, we finished 9 holes in under 2 hours
Looking for better experience.
Received a great price for this round. However, with it being a saturday afternoon in the high 70's was disappointed that there was no beverage cart to be found. I played as a single which was appreciated and with no marshal pace of play was slow at best. Course was in decent shape and several holes offered challenging shots and reward those who can hit it straight. Course meanders through mature trees. A hefty jaunt from the metro area to play, nicer courses closer to home for same value.
I love this course
Very nice shady cart paths. Nicely planned course. Very friendly staff.
A mix of water hazards and mature tree lined fairways. Challenging but still enjoyable for duffers like myself.
A golfers heaven just a few miles west of Minneapolis on Hwy 7. This is my second time playing Shadow Brooke and I had forgotten how enjoyable this course really is. One of the things that I enjoy about Shadow Brook is that the rough is short enough where it is pretty easy to hit a fairway metal. This is nice as Shadow Brooke features several par fives. The staff, as I had recalled from my previous play, is second to none. Friendly, courteous and make the whole experience of golfing here that much more enjoyable.
Great course to play--quite forgiving on the fairways, except for the one across a marsh area. The course is in great shape, very well maintained.
Great course for the money. Course is in excellent condition. Motorized carts are in good condition. Overall, excellent.
fun course. uncrowded.
kind of a long drive from metro but great value and not crowded.
Always great!
A good course, nice variety, long and short, maintained well, great value, fun!
Fun little course!
The course was good with the exception of the geese and the droppings on one of the tee boxes we could not tee off due to the number of geese invading the area.
great course for money your spending plus cart.
Great golf course. Has all the right pars for ammeter like myself. I like the course so much I play there every Mondays.
Typical Goldstrand
It's a typical Joel Goldstrand course. Nothing terribly difficult, a couple of quirky holes (one par three required a large fade around the tree directly infront of you off the tee). If the course was in better shape, I'd have given it a higher rating... it wasn't bad, but it wasn't in great shape either. Also, tons of mosquitos!!
For $29.00 golf and cart - it was a steal and a fun morning of golf
First time playing Shadowbrook, enjoyed the course. Good Layout and greens were consistent.
I typically enjoy Joel Goldstrand design courses and Shadowbrooke didn't let me down.
Great views, during parts of the course, you didn't view you were in MN.
