You can't believe that it can be more beautiful but it is with the full foliage! Photo submitted by ReneNorton on 06/22/2015
Price, price, price
This course is worth the drive - the greens are very rough and the yardage markers are useless - - - but, you can play 18 with a cart for 25 bucks. The hotdogs are sublime.
Fast Play
We played the course (18 holes) in 2 1/2 hours. There was no one in front of us and no one behind us. An overcast day, but great play! We got to use one of their newer carts too!
Always was a decent design. The owners are now maintaining better.
Good design, and maintenance much improved from recent years.
Shadowbrooke - Not too croweded
Given all of the rain this spring, the course was in better shape than expected. Ropes and stakes kept carts away from the wet area near some of the greens. Relatively quick round. A "fivesome" on the course and a foursome playing two balls each -- both let me play through, but found this to be annoying. Not the first time at SB. Approaching another slow foursome, I played 14,13, and 15 -- in that order, so as not to be bogged down. The fairways and greens were in relatively good condition...greens were slow, however. All-in-all a good afternoon at an affordable price.
Great price
The course is longer than you think, and for an inexpensive course it is in great shape! Fast pace of play not crowded.
Very nice course and at a great value!
I have been playing "The Shadow" for about 7 years now. A couple years ago, the course was in pretty rough shape and didnt seem to be maintained much and I had written it off for the remainder of that year. I decided to head back out there and was very surprised at how nice and green everything looked. It was nice to see that it was being maintained with some good proper mowing and that the water areas were also being maintained/mancured. I actually saw some signs/rope up so that carts couldn't just be driven anywhere, ripping up grass on approach shots, etc. The course has a challenging layout with some nice looking holes. Give it another 10-15 years and all the young trees lining the fairways will look great. The tee boxes could use a little work (leveling and seeding) and the greens were running a little slow so it was tough getting used to putting.
All in all, a great course for the money and I look forwad to adding The Shadow back into the rotation of courses to play.
pretty walk
First round of the season, course had just opened. Was in decent shape considering previous awful weather. Watched the greens become greener as we played in the sunshine
ShadowBrooke Review
I couldn't get the slider to work so I'll leave my review in the boxI couldn't get the slider to work so I'll leave my review in the boxThe course is the medium challenge course laid out nicely considering the terrain and an excellent value cost wise. It's apparent that the course was built in a time of expansion and facilities were not provided commensurate with the quality of the golf course. It is a bit of a drive from the Twin Cities but a fun course with some challenging holes. It could use more maintenance (I played the course three times this year) and the carts are not maintained properly (cleanliness and running condition). With a little better maintenance and care of the course, it would be an above average facility and certainly a worthwhile experience.
Best for the buck.
This course is developing into one of the best courses west of Minneapolis. The grounds people were able to improve many areas all around the course.
Now, the ball rolls on the fairways, the ruff is though, the greens bite and roll true. It's all I could ask for in a golf course.
You get what you pay for. 18 holes at a Great Price.
Less than average condition. Flat Course. Mostly forgiving course if you spray the ball around. Don't expect smooth. manicured greens. Do expect to save money if all your trying to do is get your weekly golf fix.
