Putnam County Golf Course
About
Nestled in the Lower Hudson Valley, Putnam County Golf Course enjoys a scenic location amid rolling hills yet it’s not too far from the city. Formerly known as Putnam National, the club was originally opened as a private club in 1959, it opened to the public when it was bought by the county in 2004 but it continues to offer the quality and amenities of a private country club. The golf course has front and back nines that are completely different from one another so be prepared to use all the clubs in your bag. Water hazards only come into play on two holes but don’t let that fool you, this course is formidable even for avid golfers. Putnam County Golf Course's final four holes are an especially challenging stretch that will test you with everything from uphill lies to a slew of strategically placed bunkers.

Staff was awesome!
The whole staff was super friendly. Had interactions with at least 6 different staff members and every one of them were super polite and accommodating. Finished in 3 hours and 25 minutes on a Friday morning at 7:57AM. Paired up with 2 nice people. $46 in golf now is worth it. Little wet and the greens were just rolled so wasn’t perfect but I liked the layout and fairways were nice. Shot 79! I’ll definitely be going back!!
Putnam
Course was in Great condition even with heavy rain the night before. Pace was steady with no bottlenecks in front or behind..
Great layout
Came from Ct to play a round with my son who lived in the next country (Westchester). The layout was phenomenal and the greens were fast. Good ingredients for a challenging round. Drainage and condition of the greens made it average.
Fun course. Looked very good given all the rain in past 25 days.
Putnam
Course was in great shape and very playable for all levels. Played a bit longer due to recent rain but fairways and greens were in great shape. Hoping to play it again soon.
Good Muni Still
played again and even after much rain yesterday course in relatively good condition. even with cart path only pace of play was steady. Rangers out making sure. Well worth a try.
Too many leagues during the week.
Booked Tee Time through Golf now. When we arrived we were told to go off the back starting with 10. When we completed the back nine we went to the first Tee. Where we were then told we would have to play the back nine again due to league play. I feel I should’ve been told that either on Golf now or when I arrived.
Putnam
Good layout with plenty of challenging holes.
Friendly staff.
I am a 18 handicap player
This course is challenging with tricky greens
You can’t beat the value of Golf Now’s rate. Unfortunately the greens had recently been aerated and sanded so putting was a difficult task. The fairways were well maintained although the pollen was rampant which made it difficult to find the ball in the rough. One of the few courses that does not have carts equipped with GPS. I have played this course several times and will continue to play it as overalll I have enjoyed the course layout.
Putnam county golf course
Putnam county golf course Course was in good shape pace of play was horrible three hours to complete the front nine would not recommend playing on Friday took five hours to complete
Pace yourself!
Wow. This is a great course. First off just driving into the flag lined driveway you get a feeling you are someplace special. The staff that greets you are very friendly and accommodating. Nice clubhouse and pro shop. The front nine is wide open, the fairways and greens are in great condition.
You can usually play out of trouble pretty easily even if you hit into the tree line.
The back nine is a little different. You have to place your shots carefully on the sloping fairways and greens also water comes into play on the back. You will need a few rounds before you figure out the right shot to play, especially on the back nine. However with a little planning this will easily become a favorite course to play.
Looking forward to my next round.
