About
Nestled in the Lower Hudson Valley, Putnam County Golf Course enjoys a scenic location amid rolling hills yet it’s not too far from the city. Formerly known as Putnam National, the club was originally opened as a private club in 1959, it opened to the public when it was bought by the county in 2004 but it continues to offer the quality and amenities of a private country club. The golf course has front and back nines that are completely different from one another so be prepared to use all the clubs in your bag. Water hazards only come into play on two holes but don’t let that fool you, this course is formidable even for avid golfers. Putnam County Golf Course's final four holes are an especially challenging stretch that will test you with everything from uphill lies to a slew of strategically placed bunkers.

This course is great for players who hate water
Super deal through golf now. Starter was super friendly and the pace was play met expectations

Even with high winds making it feel in the 40's, course play was great! Great friendly staff and fellow golfers. For what you pay to play, you get and more. Top notch course all the way. If you can make it out to Mahopac, NY to play some golf. That's where you need to be!
Poor Conditioned
Overpriced for wha you get. Strange layout tha lacks creatvity but it is the poor condition of the fairways and rough tha leaves you wanting more. Take the extra 20 minte ride north to Beekman or The Links @ Unionvale. Everytme I have been hear, three or more fairways are awful. One of the worst ptting greens and warmup facilities for a daily fee course.
Play here all the time
I would consider this my "home course" since I live 20 min away. They always have good hot deals on the weekends. Some fairways need attention but for the most part they are in decent shape. Greens are in good shape too. Some challenging holes for sure. I would def. recommend.
Great course and price
I've had a great experience at the golf course. I found golf course to be moderate in difficulty, but took a long time to finish all 18 holes due to having to find lost golf balls hidden under leaves.
Overall, great golf course at reasonable price.
