Great Condition
The course was in great condition. I played from the Blues and my wife from the Reds. We both enjoyed the round. The course offer good variation on the holes and makes you play the right shot. Some are straight but other require a shot to the right to be in the right position for your next shot. Overall it is a good course with bunkering in the right place to to keep you watching your distances.
Painfully slow
Love Swan Lake but the last few times I've played there it's been a very slow pace of play. This round was no different. They recently aerated the greens so I would recommend staying away for the next week or two.
Haven't played here in a long time.
The course was not as I remember it, for the most part. Played as a single in 3 hours. The course showed some wear due to the august heat, but was playable. The greens were soft, and no one fixes ball marks. a few burn spots on a few greens, but greens are large so they do not come into play. Greens were very slow, to keep from burn out. Enjoyable, but nothing special. Good course for a hot deal.
Beautiful course
Club staff super; teed off on time; no hangups or delays throughout the complete round; 18 holes completed in 4 hours; course in great condition; will play again for sure
Great track of Land
Course in great condition. They were watering the course and had to navigate around them on almost every hole while playing. Other than that no complaints. Put a few shots through the fairway because I was not familiar with layout but now that i have some course knowledge it shouldn't be a problem next time. Put your tee shots over the fairway traps and you will be in great position.
Great track of land and the food and staff were top notch. looking forward to returning. It was worth the drive.
Challenging green complexes
The area around the greens of Swan Lake Golf Club presents a challenge. Deep bunkers, large greens with many sections, and thick rough make it difficult to make pars. The greens are abnormally large, and it is tough to two-putt from the other side of the green.
great day
great golf course friendly staff looking forward to playing there again.
Solid course.
Swan Lake is good for what it is.......a solid, average layout course where you can almost always get out and the staff is quite friendly.....good value for the money.....
Good value for money
I enjoyed playing this course. We played from the whites and found it to be attractive and well cared for and forgiving. Shots sprayed to left or right rarely got lost and usually could be played back to the fairway. Fairways and greens were in good to great shape. My reservations about the course are that it is a little too forgiving and the layout is not really interesting. I recommend it and plan to play it again.
4th of July Weekend
For such a busy holiday weekend, I was both suprised and highly disappointed that almost every hole at 1pm had sprinklers on every fairway making play both wet and difficult to enjoy.
Most courses that are in need of that, have either sensors that stop the water when a golfer or cart is in the fairway, or let you know in advance and offer discounted rate.
Was disappointed in the round. There was nobody around at the turn on the 9th hole to complain to.
Swan Lake GC Manorville, LI
On this particular day I played with a friend who is learning the game and we played from the forward tees. Our playing partners were most gracious. And while it gave me a different perspective from playing the ball forward, I now understand why Nicklaus and Palmer were advocating such a move for amateurs to "shake" it up a bit. Collecting four birdies was a thrill. My friend had to pick up a few times only because she isn't "there" yet to "keep swinging".
The staff was professional. The layout fun. Wide open. We teed off at 9:10 and were finished on a glorious summer day on LI by 12:40.
I really enjoy playing here.
moonman
Like playing the course because there is little backup. The greens are in good shape and just like the layout of the holes. I'm a twenty handicap and find it fun to play at Swan Lake.

Good Course
My friends and I all felt the course (greens, fairway, sand traps etc.) was in very good condition. Pace of play was reasonable and staff was efficient and friendly. Now, if I could only play this darn game...
This course has hidden hazards.
I played with three of my buddies and we had a great time despite the slow pace on the front nine. The course has water in spots that can punish a golfer that does not manage his or her game wisely. The greens needed more work. The greens are twisted and hilly, putting downhill on a sunny afternoon can be quite a challenge. We all wrestled with this course for five hours, I walked off with my dignity in tact.
Poor management
They need to start pairing up twosomes!!! Slows play down way to much. But the biggest problem is the ridiculous pin placements!!! Everyone complaining and three putting and four putting these absolutely ridiculous placements is uncalled for. Even the Opens are fairer. Putting on a 45* or worse slope is just stupid. And this is coming from a 12 handicap. Now imagine 20+ trying to play.
Course in fantastic shape for this weather
A couple of my buddies and I played yesterday and we enjoyed every minute of it. The course was in magnificent shape and the water from the rain the previous few days has drained nicely.
The greens were great. Slow; but that's understandable considering they were wet. The fairways were nice and lush making the ball sit up nicely for easy approach shots. I will continue playing this course as much as my schedule allows.
Good day for december
Had 1208 t time but teed it up at 1145. Played 1st 9 in 1.5 hr but caught a 4some holding up 5 gps behind them. Took 2.25 for second 9. But it was a 50 dg day in Dec, so who's complaining.
Worth the trip
Swan Lake has always been a good course to play on the Eastern end of Long Island. But they have made some improvements recently and I would highly recommend making the trip out to play: the sand in the bunkers was excellent, the greens were in perfect condition and rolling well, the grass in general across the golf course was clearly well-maintained, and the course is very easy to walk. I played in November on a weekday and still had minor waits on most holes, so the pace of play could be better, but it was not too bad.
First timer
As a beginner and a woman playing alone, I was a little intimidated playing here for the first time. Staff were super friendly and the grounds were well kept. Pace of play was good and I played alone until the back nine. As a beginner, I appreciated that fairways were marked and the greens were huge!
