Buena vistas
Well maintained grounds and buildings.
Beautiful vistas with the scenic "Gunks" in the background.
First time playing this course.
first time I played this course I thought it was fantastic. I love the dog legs it made me use every Club in my bag. The clubhouse let three singles go out each with their own cart. even though it was cart path only we still got done in less than 4 hours and had a great time. can't wait till I'm back in this area of New York so I could play this course again and this time I'll bring a friend. Thank you Stony Ford from a very happy golfer from New Jersey.
Great value and a fun course to play
Some very different holes amke the course fun and callenging. We played from the back tees on a wet course so it played long. I would recommend this course for a rewarding golf experience.
Fun course
I have always enjoyed playing Stonyford because of the course layout. There are many doglegs and you get to choose how much you want to bite off on each shot. You can miss hit a tee shot and still recover a par.
Good Golf Course
As usual we had an fun time playing a round at Stony Ford. Highly recommend playing there. But be ware many dog leg holes with blind shots, so drive the cart up to see where you need to hit.
Great Value
This is a moderately challenging and very well maintained course with some fantastic vistas of the surrounding countryside. With several long par 4’s and 5’s—some straight and wide open, others with dog-legs and elevation changes- you’ll definitely need every club in your bag. Very friendly staff and a relaxed informal atmosphere added to the enjoyment for me. I played on Monday morning so pace of play was not an issue; can’t speak to work the weekends would be like. There’s also a locker room with two showers and a very affordable little restaurant with a breakfast and lunch menu and bar. I shoot the mid-90s so the course presented enough of a challenge for me and overall I would say it’s a real gem of a county/state park-run facility.
Hidden gem
Second time playing this course which is 60 miles from my home. Tried it on a lark two weeks ago and was blown away at the views, lay-out, condition, and value of this place. Last time I noticed that there were limited, if any, sprinklers, and thought after an extended dry spell the fairways might dry out quickly. Yesterday they certainly were drier. The greens, while still on the slow side, certainly were a little faster, but still drag. Great place. Teed off at 2:30, finished 18 holes in 3 hours, 30 minutes
15 th hole par 4, is spectacular from evaluating tee box to green
Play on Saturday was suppose to rain so kept people away played by myself, 1st time at course ,some fairways were under stress but most were good, greens rolled great But were slow , staff were very friendly. Lots of dog legs, so course had some visual excitement. I was sandwich in between 2 foursomes so round was a wait on teecboxes, but that was ok it was a cool
Overcast day.
Great value
This course is the best county course I’ve played yet. The greens roll true and are consistent! Great value and love the scenic drive!!!
Hidden sky top gem
For a county course you get an experience that is smoothly efficient, without hassle and with pleasing if not overwhelming aesthetics. A little browning on the fairways but fairly cut rough and views from many holes than can make you forget about golf..interesting design that seems to feature more right to left holes than vice versa.
Stony Ford Revisit
I’ve been playing this course with family members for 15 years at least. We really enjoy the location, layout and view of the nearby mountains. The pace of play was typical of a weekend running about 5 hours. Maybe better spacing between tee times would improve this situation. The greens run slow compared to some higher priced courses I play. Makes it difficult to sink a putt which can be frustrating. Hope to play it again soon.
Very nice layout and well kept.
While golf after 4 days of rain can be a challenge this course drained well. Greens were in prime condition. Excellent value.
Nice Course, Pace Awful
Played on a Friday afternoon. Foursome ahead of us was extremely slow, they had at least one open hole ahead of them for most of the round. . Had to have to wait on every shot on every hole. No ranger to be found.
