Stony Ford Golf Course

Course was in great condition (dispite aeration).

18 challenging but balanced holes.

One of my favorite courses.

Stony Ford course conditions were fair to average. Pace was good. Layout of course creates risk on a few holes that a bad tee shot could easily carry over to an adjoining fairway or green and harm other players. Will not play Stony Ford again and will not recommend to others.

Too many courses in and around the area are doing the bare minimum. No food, no beer lady, not even water available at the turn (patriot hills) so it’s refreshing to see a course do something for patrons. The greens are still in decent shape late in the season and the layout helps for a good round of golf. I’d play here every weekend if it wasn’t 30 miles from me. Enjoy!

For $48 on a Sunday morning, you cannot go wrong. This is not a top tier course by any means. But, that doesn’t mean it is not fun and interesting. The course has short par 4’s and 5’s which makes it easier IF you find the fairway. The par 3’s are solid with a few measuring over 200yrds and no 100wedge throwaway holes. The fairways are not in great condition but you can roll If needed. They are narrow and many holes are not driver required. Dog-legs abound so hit the distance and you have short shot into large greens that are soft and slow. They have some nice undulations and coupled with there slower speeds, makes going after putts less stressful. First time playing and I will be back again. I played from the back of the tees since they were playing a teen tournament. Played with two great guys as well. Looking forward to next round.

I got a great price on the tee time at a course I know. I got the the check in and they told me I did not have a tee time. They said the club had been booked for For that day two months Ago. Then when I tried to cancel my tee time on the app I was told I could not cancel it. The app cost me three hours of my life and still owes me a refund.

Generally this course gets a lot of play and can be slow. Its in excellent shape. Greens are top notch on the moderate to slow side. I played on a Friday afternoon at 2 PM and for some reason it was wide open. A 3 hour round unheard of here.

The management has removed the sand from several bunkers and has just allowed crabgrass and dirt to remain. Course is poorly staked. Fairways need to be aerated and are in poor condition. Greens are too high and are never rolled. Three foot grass in parts where it should be 6 inches of rough.

Weather was very poor with heavy rains and thunderstorms, but finally got out to play after a two hour delay. The entire (YOUNG) staff was polite, friendly and engaging during the wait. Exceptional Greens and the course drained extremely well. Great Value.

I love this course. It's my home course and I play 18 holes every week. Course has a great layout and plays especially to the intermediate golfer. It has many beautiful views of the surrounding Countryside as well. If only they would invest a little more money in smoothing out the fairways in spots and putting some Stakes out for OB and Hazards. They also need to paint the yardages on cart paths and in Fairways. Come on Orange County spend a few bucks on some stakes and cans of paint.
