If it wasn’t for great course
Customer experience isn’t prioritized one bit. From the time you drive on to the property until the time you leave- customers are the last priority. Expect strict rules, expect cart path only Monday-Thursday. Expect the club house not to have ice. Expect no water on the course. Expect no ranger.
Great course layout. Unfortunately the management makes it hard to enjoy. I’ll be back. I wish it was easier to have fun.
A must play course, but it's expensive
First off, the staff was not as rude as alot of people made them out to be. They are following COVID policies and as long as you respect that, you will find they were very friendly and willing to talk about the course and your experience.
The course layout is absolutely beautiful. Some wider open holes littered with sand traps while some holes meandered through the woods. Alot of elevation change, dramatic shots and undulating fairways made this course a real beautiful challenge.
Tee boxes were great, no complaints. Fairways weren't as short as you'd expect for the money, but were somewhat fast and visually appealing. The greens were pretty quick, if I had to guess, no more than an 11. However, the grass was thin which made it really difficult to fix ball marks without fixing it so that it was half grass half dirt (you know what i'm talking about). Hence ball marks and cleat marks were very noticeable and visually unappealing, especially given the price point. But they did run quick and were pretty true. The sand was actually great, no complaints. No rakes due to COVID Rough was fair, but not uniform all over as you'd expect from a high end club. There were some weedy spots and straight burnt spots near and around the green. For the most part it was fine, but you'd be expecting country club conditions and it wasn't quite there.
Pro shop closed, dining closed, single rider carts and small PVC things in the cups to prevent the ball from falling (actually feels like real putting), due to COVID. And expect a 5 hour round. It's a tough course that attracts tourists (like myself).
This place is beautiful. Its fun to look at and it's definitely a challenge, especially if you play the tips. You'll remember every hole, but you'll also remember what you spent. It's not at all worth the $220. It's worth $140 at the very most. Rough and greens especially need to be healthier to fetch that price point. That's on price point with Atunyote and while PR may have a better design, the conditions just aren't there.
Great track
Great layout very challenging course we played from the Oak tees. Definitely one of the premier public courses in the area. Can’t wait to play it again
Great course
One of the best, if not the best, public courses I’ve played. Beautifully designed course, a bit tough for the average golfer like me but don’t be put off by that.
Nice but tight
Nice course and layout. Definitely not a course for inexperienced golfers. Course and fairways are very narrow, but in very good shape. Greens are some of the best I’ve played all year. Hard, fast and true which was fun. A few holes you really have to drive ahead in your cart to figure out your next shot, and see where the group in front of you is. Par 3’s were excellent. Staff was very friendly, but planned on staying for a bite and a beer after the round but the clubhouse / restaurant was closed. Would have bought a shirt as well, so there loss I guess. A little pricey, and don’t think it’s worth north of $200 on weekends. Tee times were spaced out although playing in 4 hour and 40 minutes on a Thursday morning was a bit long. I will definitely go back again soon.
The tall heavyset starter was incredibly rude to my 2 friends.
We had just finished in 90 degree weather and saw he had bottles of water.
We went to take one because we were parched and he said it is only when you go out, not when you come back. When we teed off at 8am, no one offered us water.
He then became obnoxious when discussing cooler rules (we had brought a cooler with water but was told no coolers).
There was no reason for him to be agressively irritated with us. His assistant starters also had the same negstive attitude
Course is a treat! Experience is good.
Beautiful and challenging routing. The golf is great!
The experience is somewhat hindered by the tight rules which the staff are instructed to enforce. A focus on the customer experience here could really make this place amazing. A few examples:
1. I asked for a glass of ice with my Diet Coke which I bought at the clubhouse restaurant. They said they didn’t have enough ice. I asked if I could bring a cooler From my car. The answer was no. The experience would be better if I was allowed to have a cooler or if I could have ice with my drink. With no water on the course due to covid, it would be nice if coolers were allowed.
2. My friend and I were chatting in the parking lot for about 15 minutes after our round. The staff asked us to leave citing that people were allowed to stay on the premises after they finished their round. I found that being asked to leave immediately was an unpleasant and an unfortunate ending to a great round of golf.
Again. Golf is great and staff does its best with what they are given. I will be back!
Over priced
Not worth the money but it’s the only decent public track in the area so what are ya gonna do...
Wow
The course is a real gem. Truly unique. a treat to play.
Dehydration! Military School Golf.
Course = beautiful, challenging etc.
Starters = control freaks. Won’t let you use your cart until it’s 5 minutes before your tee time. Relax, no one is curing Covid....
Club house = awful. Closed to the public for whatever reason. All pro shops in NY are open at this point. Then you get in line by a window and wait your turn for some rude woman to assist.
My final straw with this course was when, in 90+ degree weather with insane humidity and no water on the course, NO CART GIRL/GUY driving around, I finished my round and went to buy a gatorade. I asked for a cup of ice with it and she told me ICE IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR MIXED BEVERAGES. Excuse me...? Because I chose not to drink alcohol and am dying of thirst and want ice at the only available location to get such on this course, you are refusing me ... ICE?!
Happy to consult on cost savings of yardage books so your patrons paying $100+ for a round of golf can get some ice....
Won’t be going back here any time soon.
Get it together, this is customer service basics 101
Great course...service SO bad I would never go back
This course had a really nice layout relative to other public courses in the area. The service was abysmal and offensive and ruined the entire experience. I would rather play at a dog track than be subjected to such horrible service.
Don't pay to play here its not worth it.
Car path only rule is somewhat disappointing
Didn't know it was car path only. Would've preferred walking. Nothing annoys me more than walking to the ball only to realize I took the wrong clubs and had to walk all the way back to the cart to fetch another club. Wish I was told beforehand and so I would choose to walk instead of ride.
fyi - website and golf now note that it is cart path only. Walking from the cart to your ball is good exercise.
Tried calling them today at 10am and no one picks up the phone. I guess customer service doesn't exist.
