Golfer Reviews
What a Course!!!
Tremendous golf course. Beautiful, Great Set Up. Strongly recommend this course. Would love to play it again. Definitely at the level of Bethpage Black, Whistling Straights ....staff just. Great!!!
Good service but not worth the $
Quirky layout with very meandering greens which they charged full price to play even though they had not healed from aeration
The range is well enclosed by a newt at about 210 yards and pretty beaten up. Good putting and chipping area
It’s highway robbery to charge 250 for this course
Staff was nice
Course needed tlc especially bunkers
Enjoy the beauty of the course....because it will eat your lunch
Typical Pete Dye course....beautiful and REALLY tough! The mounding, blind shots, undulations, forced carries etc....a course you need to play a few times to understand how to play it. As i told one of my playing partners....this course eats your lunch and vomits it back up at you (sorry for the graphics detail). Already recommended it to several people. Like to see a few more deal times to keep it affordable for blokes like me
Great golf experience
Beautifully architected, constructed and maintained. Country club quality course without the membership; yearly and monthly dues.
Worth every penny
Beautiful golf course... had a little issue with the 2 groups ahead of us with slow play.... but the ranger showed up on the 10th hole and told them they were 45 behind pace and to hurry up or get off the course... they got off thankfully.... thank you ranger
Home of the 5 hour round
Do waste your going in the afternoon. There was a group on the tee on almost every hole. Staff leaves at 4 pm. Not worth the hour ride and 150 dollars.
A Must Play Course
Went on afternoon of July 4 and course was wide open. Free range balls and nice putting and chipping areas. There are five tee boxes to play from, and on the first tee signage suggests which tee box based on your handicap. The course is very challenging. Fairways are tight and undulating. The rough is actually penalizing. The biggest challenge, by far, are the rolling, lightning fast greens. The back nine features at least three holes where you need to carry drives over waste areas ending in rock walls. Even more intimidating is a par 5 on the back with a monolithic rock dead center. Near the end is a tricky par 3 with a long narrow putting green protected by waste areas in front and rocks behind the green. Lots of water coming into play. A great experience and looking forward to another shot at it. Staff is very friendly. My one suggestion would be to differentiate the tee markers with brighter colors.
Best in the area...but!
This was my third round at Pound Ridge. The first time I have played it with my 15 year old son. His jaw hit the ground when we pulled up just seeing the beautifully manicured grounds.
Pound Ridge is unique as it is the only public course in this area that could easily be confused with a private club. I would have given it 5 stars if not for 2 items that I find consistently annoying:
1. Beware of going out without a foresome. I don’t know what it is about this course that attracts rude and inconsiderate players.
2. I booked a hot time. Despite the fact that it was wide open (literally 20 straight open tee times), the GM made us wait for our time. Who’s it going to hurt Mr GM?
All in all, I highly recommend this course for anyone who can afford the fees. Just try and fill your group to avoid the inevitable single (20 handicapper) who wants to experience the course from well back!
Championship course with slow greens
I could not say anything bad about the course but the greens were extremely slow for a course what reminded me over some of the nicest country clubs I have had the honor to play! Staff was amazing, very busy so was held up on a few holes but still got it in around 4 hours!
