Staff and management continually miss the mark
I applaud the maintenance team on a great course but unfortunately management and the bag room staff continually seem to miss the mark. My first time playing here I was told I needed to purchase a $15 meal in order to buy a beer. Second time playing here my 4ball was harassed by the staff for being 8mins “out of position” while the only other group out was a hole and a half behind us. Its a nice course but certainly not worth the hefty price tag to be arbitrarily rushed in.
Nice course, great layout, smooth greens. Lots of bunkers!! Good challenge!
Ball divots on greens!
Love the course. Day was very slow - almost 5 hrs. Ranger needs to lean on slow groups to keep pace. Just my opinion, but I think the starters need to tell every group that goes out to repair their ball marks on EVERY green. It’s unacceptable that a lot players don’t do it. If you have to, give them a cheap logoed ball mark repair tool in lieu of tees for every cart.
Great course with a challenging layout. Will definitely be back to play from a different set of tees.
You really get what you pay for
i'll put the summary first as i don't want this to be too critical: Pound Ridge is one of may favorite courses and i will continue to come back often.
So, the bad: we've had alot of rain but it's been a few weeks now and the course is still pretty soft and mushy ... i'm not sure why; made the greens a bit slowish etc. Also, maybe it's because it is a daily fee place, but the amount of ball marks, divots, and torn up tee boxes is alot for the price. i don't know the solution, but the average customer here really does not take the time to treat this course properly. i think, for this price, you are expecting a "country club experience" or at least some exclusivity, and it is lost a bit with all this damage.
Now the good: it's almost impossible to beat, even for the price (altho i would say it is fairly valued). the course design is unmatched (i think the 7th hole is one of the best par 5s i have ever played), and, if you play a tee box that suits your handicap, it's very very fair and exciting golf. bite off even just one more tee box than you can handle, and you will be challenged alot. Also, pace of play is as good as anywhere, as well. we waited a little on the last few holes recently, and still walked off the course <4hrs.
Great track
Lots of interesting holes, great elevations. . Totally enjoyed it
Awesome
Just great around from the tee box to the fairway and the greens but majestic
Love the course, but bunkers and green collars need work
Pound Ridge is one of my favorite courses, and I'm a big Pete Dye design fan, so I love the layout. Ordinarily, I'd give the course a 4-star rating, but ,many of the bunkers have stones and on some of the green collars the underlying plastic sheeting below the turf is exposed at the surface. There is really no excuse for either condition. The greens themselves and fairways are in great shape, however.
Pound Ridge
Love the course, a bit difficult but that is Pete Dye for you. You are certainly penalized for hitting it in the rough but the curse was in great condition and it is visually stunning to the eye/
