Regulation Eighteen at Smithtown Landing Golf Club
About
Smithtown Landing Golf Club offers both an 18-hole regulation course and a nine-hole executive course. The courses are open to the public on weekdays and to Smithtown residents on the weekends. The Regulation Course has a surprisingly tough layout with subtle but tricky contours throughout that cause some challenging lies. Mature trees line the fairways, making accuracy a necessity and there are also several strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. At 6,114 yards from the back tees, it's a golf course that requires strategy over length, beginning with the first hole. This dogleg right par 4 will force you to carefully think about the placement off the tee. In addition to the two golf courses, Smithtown Landing also has two practice greens with surrounding short game areas and a driving range.

Greens
The greens were air rated but that was to be expected. Other than that the course is in excellent shape
A Nice Track
Smithtown landing is my go to course. First the staff is very friendly..The Pro shop and Starters always accommodating. The greens had been aerated which all courses are doing this time of year. The course was in great shape. I know its a weekend but a 5 hour round..I see a marshal driving around but I honestly believe he is not doing his job.. The halfway house has great hot dogs ans always a great stop.
Old Favorite
Tough to rate this course in April, as the grass has not grown in yet and the greens were aerated. But the layout is great- no hole is the same, and there are lots of elevation changes. The round did not take long- a little over 4 hours-- but we had to wait on every hole for about 3-5 minutes per hole, which got annoying. But this is an old favorite and is always fun to play. Next month it will be in top condition.
Chilly but course in good shape
Aside from the jerks behind us,this was an enjoyable round of golf. Weather was cold. Course conditions were very good for this time of year. Greens were very nice and ran true. Pace was good. If you haven't tried this course,i suggest you do as some holes are very scenic.
Great condition
For the middle of February I have found this course to be in the best shape of all the other courses I've played thus far this winter. The staff is also the friendliest and most helpful I have found on Long Island.
Outstanding
The course is in amazing shape for this time of year and the staff is the best that can be found on Long Island
Great Value
The staff was friendly. The course is in really good shape especially the greens.
Staff and Course
The staff, Henry, Barry and basically everyone who works at the course are friendly, accommodating, and the maintenance people keep the course in great shape. No leaves, fast greens and good course shape.
Smithtown Staff Rocks
Another warm welcome by the friendly staff at Smithtown landing. Just easy teeing up on the first hole after an easy check in. It was walking only due to early rain. Layout is good and penalizes if you hit it too far off the fairway Course in great shape and moved at a good pace. The bar is a bar dated which is surprising since a catering company has the rights. The food guy does a great job. This is my go to course.
Lots of leaves
One of the features I like best about this course is the placement of the trees and the rolling hills. Unfortunately, during this time of year that means lots of leaves. If you miss the fairways and even sometimes in the fairways; or you miss the greens, you are going to lose some balls. price you pay i guess. However, i appreciate the design and it's a good length. Last played, the blues were set back a bit. A couple of blind greens.
Good Track, not so good staff
I booked through Golf-Now and was paired up with a 3 some. They showed up early and was sent out so I was sent out solo behind 3 sets of 4, that just did not move and or let em through. My 3 some was somewhere in front of the parade. I never feel welcomed here. Not sure why?
It was a day of golf so not too bad. I will play here again but it is not at the top of my list. Some customer service should be applied.
The Best Staff
These guys saved me. I had inadvertently booked Wednesday and showed up on Thursday. They got me out before a 1:00 outing and sorted me out to my total satisfaction. Without my wife finding out I screwed up. The starter and Mike working the concession stand were outstanding. There was a marshal prowling the course for slow play. Top notch and great value
