Regulation Eighteen at Smithtown Landing Golf Club
About
Smithtown Landing Golf Club offers both an 18-hole regulation course and a nine-hole executive course. The courses are open to the public on weekdays and to Smithtown residents on the weekends. The Regulation Course has a surprisingly tough layout with subtle but tricky contours throughout that cause some challenging lies. Mature trees line the fairways, making accuracy a necessity and there are also several strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. At 6,114 yards from the back tees, it's a golf course that requires strategy over length, beginning with the first hole. This dogleg right par 4 will force you to carefully think about the placement off the tee. In addition to the two golf courses, Smithtown Landing also has two practice greens with surrounding short game areas and a driving range.

Fun day of Winter golf
Course was in very good shape considering it was February in the north east. We were a twosome teamed with two singles. Nice guys and good golfers which made the round that much more enjoyable. The pace of play was good at four hours and thirty minutes. Would have been better but held up at par threes by groups in front. All things considered,a fun day.
Quick 18
Ventured out on a 49 degree day for a quick round. Went out as a single for a Hot Deal and did the whole track in two hours. Place was in great shape and the greens were true. Glad you all stayed home that day. Thanks!
Tight course as described!
Pace was very slow. Went with my boys - juniors . All good except cafe closed early. Make sure you have something to eat before playing cause no food or snacks available !
great time
great experience, good weather and conditions of the course was excellent . will play again
Nice but Slow
The layout and above average conditions makes this course worthwhile. The course suits well for both beginners and advanced golfers. It's full of elevation changes but for the most part, plays open without any water hazards. Kudos to the walkers, this course is definitely a beast to walk.
Like coming home
Good condition,
Friendly staff,
Price is right,
Decent layout,
What more can we ask!
Slow Slow Slow
I understand Bethpage Black walking taking 5 1/2 hours but teeing off at 1:45 on a Saturday shouldn't be as bad. 3 hours to do front nine. Ranger said its really backed up, you might want to do front again. There had to be an outing or just a group of 30 people all together. They were watching each other's shots and waiting for different groups to hit and watching from the next tee boxes. Horrible job to the starter and ranger. They just drove around but didn't enforce anything.
Picked the wrong day
There was an outing that went out way ahead of my tee time but they slowed the whole course down.Last time I played it was much faster.Round took almost 6 hours. There were 3 groups on almost every hole and at one point the ranger came out and asked us to speed up play.We all laughed and asked him if he actually saw what was going on that day.It was so slow we couldn't even get mad at him.I guess be careful when you book.I would still go back as the course is nice for the Golf Now deal and my last experience was much better
A day at landing
The greens had just been aerated so the putting was
a big challenge. In spite of that blemish, the rest of
the course was in excellent condition. From tee to
green, the fairways were beautiful. Definitely worth
playing when the greens are back to normal.
Not bad
Great layout, very easy to loose a shot in the fairway roughs, makes it very interesting. Greens are shot, and the starter and pro shop staff wasn't all that friendly. Very, very very slow pace, it was aggregating. Overall though I like the course for its layout.
Pretty course
Fairways in very good shape, putting greens were very good with the exception of 4 had too many ball marks not fixed.
Hot Dogs
The course was in great shape and I like the layout. I had 2 issues.
1) We had to wait on every hole despite a marshal present. To stand and wait it just takes the fun out
2) Made the turn at 3:00. No hot dogs and worker was going to close the stand because he had to get to his other job as a Fed Ex worker. This is on a Friday
Not on Tuesdays
Do not play this course on Tuesdays its ladies day and pace of play was very poor
Conditions
Course was in cery good shape
Nice course Great staff
Played this course in the past. It has great contour. Greens were a bit slow but to be expected with the lack of rainfall we have had on Long Island. Pace of play was excellent. I am a 12 handicap and the white tees were a good choice. The ladies don't get a big break on most holes.
Smithtown Landing Course needs a ranger.
The landing golf course was in very good shape and is challenging but not terribly long. No starter so people go when ready and as a result the course backs up on the second hole. We had to wait on every hole and we were a threesome playing behind a twosome. The ranger rides around in a cart and just waves from a distance as he does not want to hear any complaints of slow play. There is a shack after the third hole and as usual it was closed on a beautiful sunny day. Can't Lessing's find some young person interested in making some money for a few hours. The halfway house was open and the hot dogs are pretty good with an assortment of refreshments and snacks. I have played here many times and my only real complaint is the pace of play otherwise a very good golf venue.
Great for the money
One of the best LI courses yet one of the least expensive
