Tough Course
This is a very nice course and good value. The course is unforgiving with narrow, sloping fairways and lots of water hazards and woods. There are also a few dog-leg holes that are challenging for high handicappers like me.
Interesting course
Greens are too challenging.
And that is in addition to a relatively narrow and tough course.
We appreciate your honest review. Our course is designed to provide a challenging, but fun golf experience. We hope to welcome you back soon for another round!
Good course for the money
The course is short but challenging due to the slopes and dog legs, that are featured in many of the holes. Some of the tee boxes were in bad shape, and made it uneven footing to tee off, the fairways were in pretty good shape, the greens are very tricky and fast. Overall the course was enjoyable and would play again.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! We're always striving to create a positive experience for all our players and are very appreciative of feedback. We certainly hope you'll give us an opportunity to provide you with a 5-star experience soon.
Bad layout
The course was in great shape. We were a group of single digit up to 15-20 handicaps. We all walked away with the same opnion that we would never play here again. A lot of sloped fairway lies, tons of blind shots from tee to fairway and fairway to green. They even had an 'S' shaped par 5. Most holes were short and had some 10 - 15 yard wide fairways. May were doglegs which forced you to use a 4 iron or hybrid off the tee. I think I used my driver 2 times. Greens were fast and rolled true which I liked, however they were undulating and in same cases our entire group 3 and 4 putted. Seemed like they cheaped out with the earth mover when they carved this course through a hilly forest surrounded by condos. You know, like they cut down the trees, leveled a raised tee box, and planted siome grass. Only reason we played was becuase it was the only course that had a foursome 3 days out.
We always appreciate feedback as it helps us to improve for future guests. Thank you for acknowledging the good condition of the course as well as your positive experience with our staff.
The architect of Somers National Golf Club is Geoffrey Cornish. He is best remembered as one of the most prolific golf course architect of the 20th century. In a career that spanned the entire second half of the 20th century, Cornish designed and remodeled more than 250 golf courses, mostly in the northeastern United States.
Known for traditional golf course designs, Geoffrey Cornish, would simply lay the course out on the land instead of moving millions of yards of dirt. An example of this approach can be experienced at such courses as Bowling Green Golf Course in northern New Jersey; it lends the course both beauty and playability. Taking full advantage of the land and its natural features you enjoy the natural surroundings as well as the golf (and it takes less time to play).
We’re sorry your experience on the course fell short of your expectations. We hope you’ll come visit us again for a better experience in the future.
Nice day.
Very difficult due to narrow and sloping fairways. It's especially difficult if not familiar with the course. I don't agree with a prior reviewer who said the course was not fair, but I understand the sentiment, as it sometimes felt that way. The staff was very helpful, despite not allowing me to play alone on an empty course, which I thought was silly.
Thank you for your honest feedback. We appreciate your kind words, and we are happy to hear that you enjoyed our course!

Unexpected pleasant surprise
Hadn't played here since Covid. Found a reasonable price for this course and it was nearby.. all staff were very helpful. Course was actually in great shape. Greens were very good although they could have been a cut a little shorter.if uou played from the right set of tees its very fair, but some tight driving holes. Also. Some landing areas a little hard to hold. All in all I had a great time, but wished the bar was open.
We are thrilled to read your review! Our team strives to make each golf experience an exceptional one. We hope to have you back for another great time!
Inexpensive, tough narrow course
Staff was friendly and knowledgable. Course was in good shape. Fast greens and nice grass. Will play again.
Thank you for your review! We are thrilled to know you enjoyed your experience with our team and our course. We look forward to having you back again!
Unfair
Course is unfair in general. No flat lies even if you perfectly place the ball on doglegs, which there are many. Greens had false fronts and tiers on most. Just a very difficult course without any of the fun.
Thank you for honest feedback. We are sorry to hear you didn't fully enjoy your golfing experience. We hope that you will give us another chance, and try our newly renovated course again!

This is a challenging and difficult golf course. Narrow ,bunch of doglegs, lots of elevation changes, and blind shots. Must be disciplined in order to play well. I played the forward tees which the starters recommended if you haven’t played there before and I’d agree with that. Course is in very good shape. I would play it again but the only issue I had was with the staff. I had signed up for a tee time through Golf Now hoping to play by myself and the starter said it was fine and then I found out I had to play with others. I did play with one guy who was nice but I wish they would have been more accommodating to golfers who want to play alone even if the course is a little busy. There were people behind me who were playing by themselves.
Thank you for your honest feedback! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our course, but we are sorry you weren't fully satisfied with your experience. We apologize for any lapse in communication, but hope for the chance to provide you with a five-star visit next time!
