Always interesting
I like Somers but you need to go in knowing it’s a bit quirky. Hold layouts are mostly traditional but a few holes are a bit atypical. I don’t know many other courses where I’d tee off with a 6iron on a par 5. Accuracy is much better than length here.
Some greens are “challenging” in that they are ludicrously fast due to very pronounced undulations. For instance, on 18, my second shot was just short of the green and rolled about 10 yards back into the fairway. No worries, it is a raised green and I was short. My approach chip landed in the first third of the green, released and went uphill within 6-8 feet of the cup. The ball then rolled backwards off the green to my feet. Second attempt, same thing. Third attempt the ball happened to slow on some pine straw on the green. That seems a bit atypical in golf.
Like I said, I like Somers but it is a bit quirky. Knowing that, I’d happily go back.

Geese Problem. Hard Course. Dont pay full price
Don't pay full price. I think this place is probably worth paying 35-40 dollars (including a cart). Definitely not the 70-80 dollars they charge on weekends. Fairways littered in goose droppings (just accept that when you address the ball you will be standing in it). Some holes are better than others. We played in the spring and the fairways were in miserable condition. My drives routinely plugged into the fairways causing me to nearly lose my ball. Not sure if I should blame the course maintainers or the nature of the weather. Probably both. Greens were really nice, and had good feel. That's a big plus. Many of the holes are very narrow and hilly, so if you plan on driving, be sure that you are accurate. This is a decently hard course, but only because it is built into a neighborhood and needs to be narrow for that reason. Would recommend, but definitely do not pay full price.
Nice course a great price
It was the second day the course was opened for the 2022 season. It was almost empty, so that was a benefit felt like we had the course to ourselves. It was still a bit cold and windy, and the course has yet to be fully prepared for coming season. However, we got a great deal on tee-off and thoroughly enjoyed it. The course layout is very good and there are some narrow fairways. Knowing the course would really help in learning where to go for it vs where to lay up and on which side.
Joyless golf
One of the most ridiculous layouts of any course in the area. Blind shots, razor thin fairways and unscoreable holes make this course a gimmick. You have about 5 nice holes on this course. 3,4,5, 10 and 18. Conditions are usually shotty as well.
Comical that you need to pay ahead here as well.
We appreciate you taking the time to write this review. We take feedback such as this seriously. We will use this feedback for future improvements.
Much to be desired.
Most greens were covered with leaves including putting green.
Under staffed regarding maintenance - a few workers finally showing up mid afternoon to clear off some greens… they had all morning to do so. Unpleasant and frustrating experience to say the least. Will not be returning.
We acknowledge that there are areas of the golf course that do not yet meet even our own high expectations. But with the cooler weather and the ability to fertilize and water properly after the near-drought conditions, we are committed to improving our product, people and processes to create an amazing experience for our customers. We wished that you would have expressed your concerns to our management and staff so we can address them with you directly and in a specific manner. Please feel free to contact me. I would like to discuss your experience further and tell you more about what the future holds for this Club, and hopefully earn back your business in the future.
Getting Better
The front 9 is beat up however a big improvement on the 3rd hole new bunker looks great just pay attention to the other bunkers . The back 9 was well kept greens and tee boxes much better. There’s more attention going on for November then there’s ever been and it’s a good thing. Nonetheless it’s not really a club status golf course .The national will hopefully live up to it’s name keep working on it
We thank you for the honest feedback for Somers. We pride ourselves on providing a challenging, well taken care of course for our golfers. Rude pro shop/membership staff
Walked in to the club house to use men’s room. A stocky looking pro shop manager asks if I need help. I said is it ok to take a quick walk around the club house. He says I am not allowed to hang around the club house including the picnic area as it’s reserved for the ladies golf outing. I mentioned this to a senior staff who refused to believe his pro shop man is a genuine red neck. Nice challenging course otherwise.
I’ve asked Golf Advisors and Golf Pass to remove my initial comment shown above.
Thank you,
Thank you for your comment. I should’ve said he impressed me as a red neck at the time as I do not know him. At least since I am clearly order than him, his tone of voice and mannerism should’ve been more respectful.
James, while we thank you for your kind words about our course, we are very sorry to hear that you did not have the amazing experience that we all strive for with our staff.
