Somers National Golf Club

Booked an 828 tee time early in the week. Rain was in the forecast all day. Received my confirmation email from Golfnow at 630am, called at 645, 7 and 730 to confirm the course was open, but no answer. Was informed of course closure upon my arrival. A notification or message of closure on your phone system would be nice.

Course has been in better shape some years back.

I suppose new ownership is the difference .

A big improvement would be straightening out the cart path so you wouldn't need to tie yourself down from hole to hole .

Still a decent deal on golf now .

This course is absolutely gorgeous. The layout is perfect and very challenging. The value you aren't going to find a better course. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. Can't wait to play this course again!

Course showed the effect of not enough rain; there were bare patches that were dusty and hard pan; most of the tees were in good condition, some tee were very beat up, greens overall were good, I’ve played this course many times and I’m familiar with the challenges -doglegs and narrow fairways, but it is playable if you use less club and stay out of trouble.

I want to love this course. The layout is fantastic. Every hole is different. Not crazy long, but narrow and requires accuracy. A few years ago I used to play all the time and it was always fun.

But it is in such bad shape. It looked like they just finished marching band practice. Most of the fairways are bare dried mud. Makes me sad.

Loved playing a round at this course. The greens were fast despite them being wet. The layout is great. Staff was friendly, complimented my shoes! Lol although i played pretty bad, i loved this challenging course. I plan to come back!

It took my wife and myself quite a while to play the front nine behind a slow threesome. At the turn we complained to the pro at the desk. He did everything he could to make our experience from that point on great. Later on, the owner, came by to make sure everything was okay with us and offered us refreshments on the house.

I was just contacted now some 4 months after I played which was back in June to review this Course

I used to love this place because I could play there mid week and getting out on the course when it was quiet even if I was late getting there was never a problem. I live an hour away.

New management policy will not honor your GolfNow Hot Deal unless you are there exactly on time..If the course is busy that is understandable. However when I go in the aftternoon mid week I practically have the whole course to myself.

Therefore if management wants to disqualify your Hot Deal when the cousse is empty then they should not participate in the Hot Deal program.

It's as if they are resentful of not getting you to pay their $45 after 4pm rate during the week. For that money there are much better courses nearer to me.

Course was very dry and several fairways had large patches of bare hard pan dirt; ; several tee boxes were beaten up and some didn’t have grass; fairways and greens were in decent condition; overall the conditions were a distraction which made it harder to play on this challenging course.

Great course that challenges your mental game as much as anything. I have been playing here the last few years and 2019 was by far the best shape the course has been in. Continued improvement and overall great value course! Be ready to be challenged from the start with some tight fairways - precision shots are at a premium at Somers! Overall a fun time with a great clubhouse to stop at following your round. Highly suggest getting one of your final 2019 rounds in at Somers!

Played Somers for 1st time today... 30 minute delay at the start , followed by Wayyyyy too many leaves on the course causing lost balls by the dozens. The starter then drives up to us at abt hole 14 and says to speed up our play. ARE U KIDDING ME? How abt leaf blowing the course.

Overall, save your money and go to Centennial, Putnam or Mohansic

Tricky course takes Finess. Some narrow fairways, and dog legs, prevent use of driver..fun course...takes some effort and thought.

I’ve played Somers National the most of any course this season as it’s helped me improve my game significantly. With some challenging holes that require a strategic approach, a round at Somers makes for very engaging play. The recent work on some of the cart paths have also made the experience all the better. Look forward to getting back there soon.

Great round at Somers National as always with a few friends. We moved along at a great pace, and conditions were awesome. Great staff, very friendly. Rich the golf pro is super helpful as well. Will definitely be returning.
