Sharpen your iron play
A good place to sharpen your irons and hybrids. Some holes are drivable but too risky considering the tight fairways and loss ball if overshot the green. Some fairways and tee boxes are worn out. Greens speeds are very inconsistent, very challenging as some are either hamburgers or wok bottom, but could be great with better maintenance. Still a good place to work your shots, a place that requires precision and shot maker ability.

Tee boxes horrible., GPS in cart was broken. Course was in poor shape, cart paths reminded me of being in Baghdad. Every tee shot was a layup, blind, dogleg, uneven crap layout. Course cut between condos within a bird sanctuary with the worst layout I've ever played
Nice day on course
Can see effort to improve course conditions.Played in afternoon no waiting or backups.Like that their are not many adjacent holes.Makes us feel like we are alone out there with no pressure.Ken in pro shop was very pleasant and made us feel welcome.Use you’re head for course management while playing and you will have a pleasant round here.
Great shape
Outstanding course, golf carts are great with the satellite radio and the GPS yardage to the pin, restaurant and bathrooms are clean, The staff is very friendly, I will be going back soon to play.

Prior to this round the course showed wear and tear due to lack of irrigation; recent rainfalls helped get it back to decent playing condition; today’s round was in the afternoon and the course was very open and the pace of play was good; it is basically a challenging course that meanders thru condos and it has lots of challenges, for the typical amateur.
This course need some works
Nice course. But it needs a lot work for the fairways and tee boxes. Fairways are very narrow. Green is pretty fast and hard to read in my opinion.
Mountain Course
My first time at Somers National and didn’t know what to expect. The site focuses on the fact the course is well above sea level. I know understand why! This very short course is filled with narrow chutes with massive elevation changes. Up and down hills that resemble ski trails. Some unique holes including a horseshoe par 5. Overall I recommend the course to anyone who has 5 hours to spare! Leave your driver in the bag with small exceptions. Many holes require an accurate 200 ball. So expect a shot maker course as opposed to letting it fly!
My round at Somers National
I needed a place to golf in Westchester County that I hadn’t played before because I was staying over my mom’s place in Yonkers. Found Somers National Golf Club and from the name, location and hearing from an online buddy learned that it used to be private, so I figured this was a good spot to play.
Greeted wonderfully from the cart guy at the bag drop and the guy in the Pro Shop couldn’t be nicer. Then I learned that my driver probably wouldn’t be needed today because the course was narrow with lots dog legs.
I can’t remember the last time I was forced to hit an iron off the tee on every par 5 hole if ever. I hit driver once on the front 9 and once again on the back 9 and neither time did I really have to. Great spot to work on your mid to long iron game.
The carts have a touchscreen GPS which was nice because you can’t play this course blind. Being able to know the distance to the beginning and end the doglegs or end of fairway is a must.
The course has seen better days with the poor conditions, but with a little TLC (and some money), this course can be a gem again being just an hour from NYC. Tee boxes and sections of fairways need reseeding and the traps need sand in them.
Bowling alley on a mountain
Conceptually interesting, however, the experience proves quite frustrating. Extreme pitches, narrow landing areas, more than half the tee shots are blind. It's really an iron only track which is fine however the green fees suggest you'll be using every club in your bag.
Its pretty and the staff is very friendly. The extreme pitch of most of the fairways as well as the greens just makes it a real test of patience.

Pretty course good condition.Need accuracy to score well.Like the fact that not to many adjacent holes.Feel like no one else is there, very peaceful and serene
Lots of hills tight course
Difficult course if you have any missed hits. Narrow fairways. Lots of burnouts on t boxes and fairways
Fun Course!
I had the opportunity to play Somers for the third time and what a difference a year can make! The course was in great shape and you can really see the improvement over the last year. The course has a unique layout, making it challenging for any level of player. The staff was very helpful and friendly and it made my experience that much better. I look forward to playing the course again!
$24... you get what you pay for
Tees - 2/5
Fairways - 3/5
Greens - 3.5/5
Bunkers - 3/5 (some bunkers were actually great, others were terrible)
Who are these people giving this place 5 stars? This is a 2-3 star course on a very, very good day. Just a terrible layout. Looks like they are trying to fix it up a bit. But nothing that I could imagine would be able to fix this place and make it worth anyone’s time to play it. Spend 15 extra bucks and play someplace else. Move along... nothing to see here.
Great course
Love this course. Makes you think about where to land for your next shot.
Playing music from the golf cart is great!
