New owner/management
Great staff. Front A-Z. New owner doing the right things to make the course better and challenging.
Good first time
Staff was friendly. I left one of my clubs at a hole. It was waiting for me when I left. Cart path only is a bit rough. Hot deal and twilight prices are legit. Beautiful and challenging. Would go back.
Be ready to deal with the hills
Good course, many holes require you to shape your shots around the hills. If you have a certain shot that doesn't go with the hole-you will struggle. Greens were good, about medium speed. Got out quick, paired with a double. Average round speed-due to me having to look for a couple of errant shots. Some of the carts paths were a bit bumpy, but no real complaints. I'd play again.
Great Course
I played Somers with a couple of friends last week. The course was in great shape and the pace of play was never an issue. When the course opens up by the pond it is challenging and very fun. I would definitely recommend playing here.
We enjoyed our round of golf at Somers National. The course was in very good shape, pace of play was good, but the cart paths need a lot of attention.
Great Course, Great People
I have played Somers twice and had a great experience each time. The course was in great shape and rate of play was quick. The carts are brand new, equipped with touchscreen monitors for updated yardages as you move. Staff was very nice - the owner even stopped by and chatted with us as we sat on the outdoor patio by the 18th green after we finished our round. Overall, I would definitely recommend teeing it up at Somers if you’re looking for a nice place to play.
Tight, quirky, but in great shape
This course is extremely tight. There are some really short and quirky holes as well. The greens were some of the best I've ever putted and the round was very enjoyable. Pace of play and value were great.
Another Great Round Of Golf
Shot 18 holes with the wife to celebrate our Anniversary and couldn’t be happier. Challenging and yet forgiving Somers National is the best value for golf in the area.
Impressive course with natural feel
With exceptional greens, professional staff and great off course amenities, Somers National offers a challenging and fun course that is well designed, utilizing its natural surroundings to make each hole unique. A must play for those who are local as well as folks willing to travel.
The course was recently taken over by new owners , One of them greeted me as I was getting ready to tee off, The last time I played there was three years ago, and it was a total disaster, I am definitely coming back many times soon, the course is in great condition, the new golf carts are awesome, The restaurant was clean the restrooms were immaculate, great job guys, I am very impressed.
Course in good shape. Ownership obviously spending money to get course back into top shape. No complaints. Price very reasonable.
Great course - fun and challenging
Had a fantastic time playing Somers for the Fourth of July holiday. A really fun course with a challenging atmosphere. Friendly, easy to talk to staff and a great selection of drinks to choose from. Had such a good time that we went back out for a second round. Will definitely be back.
Fun and challenging course with great value!
I have played this course a few times over the last couple years and the course is in its best shape ever - hands down! The improvements made in the last year are visible all over and the golfer experience is phenomenal. A challenging but entertaining course that provides it all including Bluetooth and distance tracking capabilities in the golf carts down to a beautiful patio overlooking golfers on the 9th hole, this place is great. Would highly recommend checking out the newly renovated grill/bar area for a post-round meal or drink as the staff and service are great. Whether trying Somers for the first time or making a return trip, this place is top of the list for courses I’ve played in the area!
Great course but......Need a Ranger on busy days
We've played Somers National many times and generally the pace of play has been great. On July 5, however, the course was fairly busy and we were playing behind two foursomes that may never have actually been on a golf course before. [the starter actually advised them that they needed to maintain the pace of play after watching first tee play]. After watching eight players look for eight balls in the woods for long stretches, we finally left the course after six holes and over two hours.
We'll still be playing as the course is challenging, great condition, fast greens, and the people working the course are very nice. Definitely a great place to play. But......ya gotta get a ranger out there on busy days!!!!!
Great Golf
Somers is a great golf course for golfers of all abilities. The condition of the course is great and the staff are very friendly. I would recommend this course to anyone in the area.
