Happy 4th!
Had such a great time playing this course! Lost a lot of balls unfortunately but the layout really made it a lot of fun. If you’re sick of courses that are set up for driver each hole I highly recommend playing here. It’s a challenge in so many ways with its doglegs and beautiful scenery. We got to meet one of the owners who offered to set up our cart for us(technology is awesome on these, bring your charger!) but he was such a great host and we had no idea who he even was until we asked about the course being established in 2019. All in all we will be back!
Tight
Decent shape but one of the tightest courses ive played in a while. Woods all over and lots of doglegs. Don’t expect to drive much. If you want to work on irons then this course is for you.
Great Experience
The greens were amazing. The course is short, narrow and challenging. Some holes are very quirky and there is a lot of target golf, but it was very enjoyable. A lot of target golf, but I utilized the whole bag
Pluses and minuses
I arrived at course on a Sunday morning, playing there for the first time. The restaurant was closed, and would not open until 11. The person at the pro shop was unhelpful and uninterested. The course was quite challenging with fast greens and lots of elevation changes. The tees were a little beat up, but the course was generally in good shape. It was a beautiful summer day but thunder storms kept cropping up. after we played 9, a storm acme up and every body went inside for shelter and food. The restaurant had 2 parties going as well as the golfers. we had to wait an hour and a half for our food before we resumed playing. That made for a 6 hour round. Not going back anytime soon.
Tougher layout
The course has a tough layout many doglegs and blind shots. Greens are very tricky many of them are sloped heavily .
Condition of the course is sub par. The tee boxes are not level. The fairways on the front 9 are soaking wet.
Mike.Awesome
Course is challenging; many tight fairways , plus several
doglegs which made it necessary to make layups and avoid trouble.. The course puts a premium on accuracy . Overall, the course is in very good shape . I’ve played the course many times and this is the best shape it’s ever been . Even though it’s a challenging course it can be a good experience for the average golfer if you use the one less club approach and focus on keeping the ball in play..
Challenging but fun...
Course was in good shape, staff was friendly, had putting green and driving range...Most everything was good except no food or beverages for early tee times...we were able to grab 12 beers for the back 9 but ended up getting charged $89 for the beer. Lunch afterwards was very good though. All in all good experience but beer expense was excessive.
In Much Better Shape
Course is in much better shape than years past. Greens were in great condition. Pace moved well even though it was busy. The layout isn’t for everyone, but it has challenging holes with lots of iron play.
Members don’t like that the public is allowed in
Staff was great. Starter, crew working the carts, and the snack person were all terrific. Really some unhappy golfers out there. Women members who were rude to “non members” and made a point of telling us that “members get priority treatment”. Not the best feeling. Also, ordered snack in the cart system for a 9th hole pick up. Food wasn’t ready and caused us to fall behind. They shouldn’t offer that service if they can’t handle the requests.
Not sure I’d play here again especially with so many rude members. Unfortunately, most of them women - who should be encouraging other women to play.
Very Challenging Course
Straight is better than long here. Quite a few doglegs that don’t need driver off tee. Greens were a bit inconsistent with some considerably faster than others. Tee boxes could use a little work as few were level. It will take a couple of rounds to learn the course and course management is a must with subtle and not so subtle risk-reward choices to be made. All in all, the place makes you want to come back because you just know you could have done better!!!
Course is in amazing shape
The course was beautiful and the staff was very helpful. The layout is great and was able to play in under 4 hours with 4 people. The greens roll perfect and aren’t to hard or soft. I would definitely recommend playing here.
Awesome Golf Experience
The course is in the best condition I have seen in years! Greens and fairways are very well kept, and the new golf carts are great. A very challenging course that will make you play strategically!
Tough layout. Bring your A game and leave the driver home
Overall great experience!!
The course layout and conditions were beautiful and the staff was extremely helpful. Greens were rolling great and pace of play was perfect.
Lots of doglegs
It rained hard all morning and found a hot deal for $16. Can’t really beat that price anywhere. For the amount of rain in the morning, the course help up pretty well. The rain scared everyone away so the course was completely empty. Greens are always good (even after the rain). The layout is what always gets me. They have some nice holes, but on the other end have some holes that make you scratch your head. Par 5s have some hard doglegs not letting you use driver off the tee making it hard to score. Overall it’s a good course just won’t pay full price.
Won’t go back.
Course layout is not good. Barely any flat fairways and greens are extremely unpredictable. Pace of play was bad as well. It took 6 hours to finish a round. On top of it all they have mostly teenagers for employees in the clubhouse and on the course. So I’m not surprised my cart ran out of gas at the beginning of the back nine. On the way out the manager took my email and said he would send me a courtesy round or two. I never heard from him and it’s been 4 days now. I have no intentions of going back to play there.
The course is in mint condition... the best in years! Somers National is a unique golf course so it presents challenges but it is fair and offers a number of amazing holes. I've played several rounds this year and the pace has been excellent. The value is outstanding!
Hit it real straight!!!!@
A lot of ups and downs. Maybe the tightest course ever! Big penalties for little mistakes .I will play again!!!
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
Always found the course quirky but I enjoy it. Last time I played as a single, some elder ladies, possible members, really lacked the ettiequte to let me play through....almost made a point of letting me know this. Later in the round, met the same problem with another group. Wound up skipping the hole. Not cool!
